In this video, we will be looking at the specifications of the Europress Carbon Steel Press-fit piping system. With corrosion resistant properties and a high level of durability, this range is suited to applications such as closed-circuit heating and cooling water systems, compressed air, closed-circuit fire sprinkler systems, and oil and lubricant lines.
Let’s take a look at some of the key specifications.
- The Europress Carbon Steel tube and fittings are available in sizes from 15mm to 108mm and can be easily identified by the red press-check indicator sleeve on sizes up to 54mm, and a red label on the larger sizes.
- Europress Carbon Steel has a maximum operating pressure of 16bar but can be used up to 40bar for some applications, subject to approval by our Waterworks technical department.
- The operating temperature for Europress Carbon Steel will depend on the seal used. With EPDM seals, the operating temperature is -20℃ to 85℃, and up to 120℃ with FKM (Viton) seals.
- The fittings come with standard EPDM seals which are ideal for use in heating and cooling water systems but can handle temperature spikes up to 120℃. You can also request the fittings with Viton seals which are ideal for high temperature applications above 85℃.
- Sizes 15-54mm have a unique polygonal EPDM LBP seal, that is guaranteed to leak until it is pressed. Larger sizes do not have a polygonal seal, but they act in the same manner and are certified to do so. They are all certified to the world-renowned DVGW W534, which ensures they work at pressures as low as 1bar. Having multiple leak paths is preferable to ensure they work, and once the fitting is pressed, it acts in the same way as a standard o-ring, providing a positive seal.
- It is important to use Europress Carbon Steel tube with these fittings, as it is manufactured to a very fine tolerance ensuring a positive seal once pressed.
- There are two variations of the Carbon Steel tube available. The first option has a galvanised coating on the outside of the tube only. This is best suited to applications such as oil and lubricant lines and closed-circuit heating and cooling systems which doesn’t have fresh oxygen entering. The second variation available has galvanised coating on the inside and outside. This is ideal for applications such as closed-circuit fire sprinklers and compressed air.
- It is an AON requirement to use dual coated tube for fire sprinkler systems.
- All Europress Carbon Steel fittings have an electrolytically galvanised zinc coating, which protects the fittings against corrosion.
- You can use the same tooling for the Europress Carbon Steel system and Europress Stainless steel, however, jaws should be thoroughly cleaned, deburrers and cutting equipment should not be shared to avoid cross contamination.
- The Europress Carbon Steel fittings have been certified to the following standards: UNI EN 10305, Vds-CEA4001, AON, ASME B31.3, UNI EN ISO 9001/2000.
