Awesome channel - subbed! Eurorack DIY, milling, stencil cutting... ticking all of my boxes 🤩

This is a really cool demo of a great use for a binary counter. I have that HP power supply and the HP scope one generation older than that... There are a ton of LM2596 switching buck regulators on ebay and I sure like them for adjustable high efficiency dirt cheap 5-ish volt supplies.

I use to sell vinyl and was about to suggest using it as a stencil haha, I actually had someone suggest my using it for panels yesterday and was like "oh no, that would be a waste of time". I bought wet transfer printable decals recently to try out, I'm hoping after hitting them with a sealant they hold ok.

What's the difference between gates and trigger pulses?

Just duration, really. A trigger pulse is a short burst of higher voltage, just to tell something else to happen. Think like hitting a drum -- you did it, then it's done. A gate can stay on indefinitely for things which can variable duration, like holding down a piano key. In practice, most things that want triggers are just looking for a rising voltage, so usually they can take a gate signal instead and it will work just as well. (But sometimes they start doing their thing at some ridiculous high rate! Depends on the module.)

Great work , but sorry to burst the bubble, If you build in your time, DIY most certainly does not keep the cost down, that's a complete myth. You also lose time not making music. Regards.

If I factored in the cost of my time, I wouldn't have ANY hobbies!

@@Attoparsec It's a great and satisfying hobby and I've been doing it over four decades, at the end it all comes down to is the time invested better spent on other things like making music. Also even though my soldering tekkers are god like, do I really want to be staring through a stereoscopic microscope at my age surface mounting stuff along the lines of mobile phone tech? Quite a lot of my modules ARE mobile phone tech. Cheers and regards

I actually found myself enjoying the designing and building process more than the making music part. 🙃

I see where you're coming from, if I only wanted to make music I would stick to using a DAW or mobile phone app, instead of modular. I don't see time as a cost when I enjoy what I'm doing though. The real advantage of DIY is you can build modules any way you want.
