The fourth part of the full voting of the 1990 Eurovision Song Contest, with British commentary and in this part the votes from: - Sweden - Italy - Austria - Cyprus - Finland
In 1990 nobody spoke English in Italy. We grew up studying French as 1st foreign language at school. Only after 1995-1996 English started to be widely introduced into Italian schools.
Bella Livorno Is this regarding why the Italian spokesperson spoke in French? If so, I think the spokesperson spoke in English in 1993 and their following participation in 1997.
@@061321847 well so far it’s been a mess The kinetic sun doesn’t work and the delegations are full of complaints about the directing of their entries Btw you mean Serbia right? The last time i checked Yugoslavia doesn’t exist anymore
@@SimsMoyal Really? Never knew about it. As a Bosnian Yugoslav, I am somehow sad Bosnia will not participate, but there are other Yugoslav republics in it 😊😊 It will be fun, I hope they make it well in Turin.
Apparently he was actually some local they found on the street and paid to vote for them, because they were either too broke to afford a jury or just forgot to bring one 😂 Either way, he was still pished
He said One point to luxembourg since the starting... The mistake was made in zagreb where they didn t add the point to luxembourg on the display...please think before writing...
I agree, with the exception of the 1997 UK win, Eurovision, as well as the music in general has been in decline since the early 1990's. Now it's all too political .
The presenters had to have a good command of both English and French at least, especially for the voting English has become more dominant in recent years
I'm so ashamed of some of these commenters. 1. Not everyone is going to like the same songs as you. There's these things called opinions, y'know. 2. Not everyone wins by cheating. 3. Italy won a total of 2 times while Ireland won 7 times. You're all acting like Ireland has never won. 4. Why do you have to be immature and complain in the comments. You can't just be proud of how far your country or your favorite song came?
Daddy listen to the Irish and Italian songs if you think the Italian one is better than the Irish song fair enough. In my opinion the Italian song wasn't good enough for a top 10.
It was a joke it was a good song but they cheated this is the Spanish jury staling to switch the Votes even Terry Wogan said Italian Jury who taught they were from Spain.
So it turns out that Italy's broadcaster actually paid a group of random Croatians to vote on their behalf rather than assemble a jury. Suddenly their vote makes a lot more sense 😂
Interesting how Ireland first got 12 points after they lost the lead they had held for much of the voting. Meanwhile France, who got lots of full marks, never took the lead at any point. Spain thankfully at least made the top-5, but in my opinion either they or France should've won, or Yugoslavia. We in Iceland were euphoric over our 4th place, which made us fall permanently in love with this contest. A shame the Benelux countries were so ignored in the voting.
I'm just glad nobody ended up with the NULL point in 1990, even the bottom placed countries got "decent" scores. And how I miss Terry Wogan. " I didn't give that Italian song a prayer!" LOL!!! And by the way these two were some of the best presenters ever. Remember the HOT MESS in the following year in Italy: Toto Cutugno himself, a TOTAL FOOL--who KNEW?!--and Giuliola Cinquetti, who was gracious but could barely speak any other language besides her own Italian and a little French. Why are Italians so bad with English and even French? Lord have mercy.
And he knew it very well actually. But that's not the point because later the Italian spokesperson spoke French well. The point is that he said he was part of the Spanish jury for some reason and started by 12 points and not 1. Since there is an abrupt shift between when the spokesperson made those "mistakes" and the way he gave the points later, I think for some reason someone who wasn't supposed to announce the points managed to get there and was kicked out. That could be the reason why the Italian spokesperson said there had been a "technical issue" and then started giving the results flawlessly.
What a shame for Italy! Was the Italian giver of the points drunk or what ("Es-pa-agnol")?! Why did he say he is from the Spanish joury? First of all he also refused to start again! How he could come on the public TV being drunk?!
Luca D'Esposito he didn’t understand what? The Italian jury clearly said he is the Spanish jury - unless you are drunk you should know who you are! No matter what they say and if you didn’t understand you wouldn’t say you are Spanish if you are Italian of course unless you are 6 feet under your liquor
Spanish, French and Irish entries were much better than the winning one. Spain should have come first. Turkey must have taken position in top 10 and Austria was deserving the fifth place.
Italy were lucky and accidentally tactical not giving Ireland or France anything! Joelle Ursull totally should've won that year and UK shoulda been much lower, biggest farce involving the Brits at ESC that Emma with a wimpy song placed a position higher than a high-energy, fast-paced summer song from Yugoslavia. Cyprus giving 6 to Greece there is the lowest they've given em, it would be 25 years later the next time neither traded the usual laughable 12 points. This was the last Eurovision before world wide web was launched...
Old. Terry Wogan. From Republic of Ireland. But of course worked and lived in United Kingdom. Always speaking over other countries voting. But like that other Irish chap. Graham Norton,. Always saying oh we have a point. Meaning the UK....I understand it that Ireland isn't in the UK::: thinking it's really funny these two and many many thousands of Republic of Ireland people have chosen to live in UK.
@SimsMoyal Yes but as you have seen, the host asked him in italian to repeat their votes! But he insisted to speak in french! Even though, Italy could speak in italian while it was voting! Why the heck an italian would choose to soeak french or english when no one forbiden them to speak italian? In their own language?
