@@SuperJNG18 The hate the duo received in the past month was insane. They were very very bad at the start and people were even suprised they didn't back down after the first performance
hahahaha! For what it's worth I really liked the Dutch entry , probably my favourite song even on the night so was quite shocked to see it not qualify , especially with Switzerland going through which I found quite dull personally. Eimear Quinn did a new version of her 1996 winning song The Voice for a concert in Amsterdam ironically enough a couple of years back (it's on youtube) . RTE in Ireland could do far worse than pick up the phone to her if they are out of ideas as to what to send , which frankly since the turn of the millennium they seem to have been...
@@SuperJNG18 That's because we/they had already given up hope we would qualify so when we didn't he was like ok we were right. Should we have been through however ... you might have heard him scream ;-)
@@slavkosain that's true, artists and commentators are the least prepared, if they're gonna get announced first. Definitely not last, because they're always announcing safe qualifiers last.
Love the Latvian commentator and he is 100% correct. Sudden Lights were incredible and they deserved more, absolutely nothing to be ashamed about. Ppl just didn't get it, but those that did loved it! I voted for it 15 times from Germany. Please don't give up Latvia ❤❤❤
I voted for it three times from NYC! I didn’t hope too much but I knew they did great and were the kind of artists who’d just appreciate even being there to begin with. Latvia did a brilliant job and shouldn’t regret a thing. Next year!
I was sorry to see them head back and I'd have wanted them to go through (couldn't vote in this semi final)! They seem a decent group and enjoyed their set yesterday. Listening to some of their stuff on RU-vid I can't help but feel they might have done better with a televote if they chose something like "Laternas" ijnstead of "Aija" - with a more energetic feel and hook.
Something tells me they ended up in 11th place, probably behind Remo, or something. We’ll know by the 13th, and I’m guessing what doomed their song was the fact that indie rock listeners don’t tend to pay much attention to the ESC. Maybe they should… I know I voted for them three times, for the first time ever since I’ve started watching this thing. 🤷♂️
@@Mainyehc might be something to that - indie rock does occasionally break through to the mainstream here in the UK , this would have done well in 2005 here.
I love how Finland's YLE always cares to have different language broadcastings: Finnish, Russian, Swedish, Sami and even Ukrainian. And they also had English commentators back for UMK.
Three of those are official languages in Finland, Russians are a decently sized minority and we have enough Ukrainian refugees here that it makes sense to also provide them commentary.
@@tapio_m6861 In Spain we have 4 national languages and RTVE only provides one broadcast with Spanish speaking comentators... I envy Finland little bit more... Haha
@@mrmr4622 as he said, there are many Russian speaking people living in Finland, which makes it valuable to offer commentary in their language. I do think that tv is a great way for people to integrate and learn the (official) language, but it's also nice that they provide at least some (I don't know how many Finnish tv programs are aired in Russian language) in other languages for those who don't yet understand the country's official ones. Especially for Eurovision which is the epitome of an international program followed by people of different languages.
okay the impressions I got from these commentators: -Croatia: omg we actually qualified how funny -Moldova: whoop okay, fine we qualified -Switzerland: OMFGFGFGFGFGF WE MADE IT (all of them) -Finland: let's pretend to be surprised... YEEEES (also all of them) -Czechia: yeah let's go we are through let's party! -Israel: Of course we are in the final with Noa -Portugal: OMFG WE QUALIFIED FOR THE 3RD TIME IN A ROW -Sweden: let's pretend like we didn't expect... SO RELIEVED -Serbia: oooooh I'm so relieved -Norway: oooooooh why they keeping us for last
The Swiss guys were the best, especially the French language one "OH LA LA LA LA LA!"😂. The Czech guy sounds like a football commentator. Without the subtitles his comment sounded as if he were saying, "The bold strategy paid off for them, Cotton." 😆 I love it.
All of the Finnish commentators are iconic, but HUGE shout-out to the Sámi commentators in particular. Really happy to see them being represented here, especially since they've had a rough go of it in Norway and Finland recently. Eurovision brings us all together!
Yeah YLE has been providing Sami thankfully more and more past and ESC has had them for few years. Ukrainian became thing last year and Russians are our biggest minority.
I’m so happy that yle is making more of an effort to help in revitalising the Sámi languages, even if it’s mostly concentrated on Northern Sámi right now. I hope NRK and SVT will follow their lead.
She wanted to say "Hvala kurcu", which means "Thanks to dick", a common phrase in Serbia when you're happy something happened. It's just that she was on live television so she needed to change up her language a bit😂
I absolutely love Mikko (the Finnish commentator), he's my favourite part about Eurovision. He's just so excited about Eurovision and relatable tbh hehe
Me too! He even had green bolero with him and he put it on in his booth, without a shirt of course. I have a badge that has Mikkos most famous saying: ”Muista rakastaa itseäsi!” (Remember to love yourself!)
I love the Latvian commentator's attitude - yes you guys should be proud and unshamed. You gave us a good song, a good performance and staged it well that it did get you over the line isn't the fault of anyone on your team. Good job guys!
Big effort went into making this video. I appreciate it! It's interesting how some commentators are more nationalistic (Moldova), others are over the moon (Switzerland), and some are just relieved (Serbia).
NQ commentators reaction in the nutshell: Azerbaijan: Yeah... we didn't qualified, anyways... Ireland: *cries thinking that Europe never gives them a chance even tho that they have 7 victories in esc* Latvia: We didn't qualified but they showed up on eurovision and we are proud that they slayed on the stage Netherlands: At least we didn't NQ for almost 10 years unlike Ireland (They are roasting Ireland for not getting into a Final) Malta: *Silence*
Azerbaijani guy shocked us all actually. He was commenting for the first time and at home we were thinking he was worried more for Norway than Azerbaijan 🤣🤣🤣 also he was saying "And Norwaaay, the last finalist. Unfortunately, we won't see our representative performing again in the final. But it is okay" 🤣🤣🤣 he was unnecessarily happy when we could not make it 😂
Mimicat! She did it! #TheBurlesquePrincess #TheQueenOfTheHeart Mimicat, Ai Coração and Portugal are in the Eurovision final! From beeing an "under dog" and to achieve the Eurovison final, what a voyage! Achieved of course by astoning performances. An amazing sexy and flirting dancing conjugated to the best vocals of the contest, walways in perfect interactionwith the public an d the cameras. Well deserved! By now... the sky is the limit! #1 Please vote for Mimicat and Portugal for the win in the final!
To be honest that was my reaction as well when Croatia qualified. Then I got scared because i realised these tractor dictators are actually a threat in the televote 😬
Honestly that seems like the most appropriate reaction to this wild song qualifying. If I was Croatioan I would probably be very glad but also confused on how did it actually happen since it was a big gamble, plus not everyone celebrates in a vocal way.
Beautiful reactions imo of both the qualifiers and non-qualifiers! But… is Serbia really showing Eurovision on their THIRD channel? 🥲 like not even on their first or second?
Due to the two tragic mass shootings that recently happened in Serbia the media decided to stop broadcasting entertainment shows this entire week, but the grand final will be broadcasted on the main channel!
Tfw YLE has commentary broadcast even in Ukrainian and Russian but Switzerland doesn't even have Rumantsch commentary. Also, where is Maltese commentary?
@@fabb4i2 That seems to be correct given that this is the first year Yle has offered Ukrainian commentary. The other languages have been offered in the past and cater to language minorities within Finland (including co-official Swedish).
They always talk shit on others, because the Dutch commentators are part of the Commitee that presents the acts for The Netherlands... and they present shit after shit
@@lisakakashi True. I guess, you could just call it German. It just struck me as weird. I think I've literally never heard anyone refer to Swiss-German as just German.
