The Netherlands' Eurovision entrant has been questioned by police over claims he made "unlawful threats" to a member of staff, Dutch media reports.
Joost Klein, 26, missed his slot in the show's penultimate dress rehearsal in Malmo, Sweden, on Friday and was not allowed to take part in either of yesterday's two dry-runs after the event's organiser said it was investigating an "incident" he was involved in.
Swedish police say they subsequently questioned a man over alleged "unlawful threats" made against a Eurovision employee on Thursday evening.

The camera woman assaulted him by not respecting his boundaries. The EBU is twisted as hell. The only reason they did not disqualify Israel from participation is because their biggest sponsor Moroccanoil is from Israel. Boycott Eurovision Song Contest ❌

Avatros just posted this: We have taken note of the disqualification by the EBU. AVROTROS finds the disqualification disproportionate and is shocked by the decision. We deeply regret this. An incident occurred after last Thursday's performance. Against clearly made agreements, Joost was filmed when he had just gotten off stage and had to rush to the greenroom. At that moment, Joost repeatedly indicated that he did not want to be filmed. This wasn’t respected. This led to a threatening movement from Joost towards the camera. Joost did not touch the camera woman. This incident was reported, followed by an investigation by the EBU and police. Yesterday and today we consulted extensively with the EBU and proposed several solutions. Nevertheless, the EBU has still decided to disqualify Joost Klein. AVROTROS finds the penalty very heavy and disproportionate. We stand for good manners -let there be no misunderstanding about that- but in our view, an exclusion order is not proportional to this incident. We are very disappointed and upset for the millions of fans who were so excited for tonight. What Joost brought to the Netherlands and Europe shouldn’t have ended this way.

There was an agreement that Joost would not be filmed when he was finished. A camera woman filmed him anyway so Joost asked her multiple times to stop filming. She would not listen and continued. Joost then made an agressive faint towards the camera but did not touch the woman. AND THIS LADIES AND GENTLEMAN IS ENOUGH FOR EBU TO CANCEL HIM. Absolutely disgusting behaviour of the orginisation! Boycot this bullshit!

Last Thursday Joost wanted to go to the green room after his performance. It was agreed that no press, videos or photos would be taken. There was a lady filming. After repeatedly asking to stop this, Joost made a dismissive gesture. That's why he was suspended.🤷🏼‍♂️ @Eurovision

The fact AvroTros is saying it’s disproportionate is quite interesting, since the mediapark already had scandals and lots of training the last 1-2 years about it. The incident happened just after Joost left stage on Thursday. They started filming him backstage. He repeatedly said he didn't wanted to be filmed and when this camera woman kept on filming he attacked her verbally but he didn't touch her. Simple version: Joost said stop, she didn't, he got angry

Just in Dutch news: Joost was filmed by a camera woman after he got of stage in the half finals against the rules and his will. He asked her several times to stop filming which she didn't. Joost made a move towards her camera without touching her. Of that incident has been made a complaint which got him disqualifite. :-S

I doubt it is false, but there’s much more to the story they are not sharing. EBU are a bunch of hypocrits only sharing what he’s done wrong and not the rest of the story. The fact that Joost Klein will not be allowed to perform tonight is incomprehensible. He's not allowed to participate due to supposedly “unacceptable facts”, facts they don't even want to share with us. Meanwhile, the EBU lets a country that is killing thousands of people participate, talk about justice. I hope Joost knows he has made everyone smile and proud, especially his parents. Let the man perform again next year !

Police have finished their investigation it has been passed over to the court. A Swedish member of the production crew reported the incident to the police. It is alleged that he punched her, we will probably have to wait for the court case for more information on whether that was it, or the incident was something else against her.

@@Spielmaldingens innocent until proven guilty of course! this is for the state. The eurovision is an event which has its own rules and regulations and can apply them however they want. NL could seek legal action but given the discretion that EBU has, I see no point in doing so. Keep in mind that the NL public broadcaster have only taken issue with the proportionality of the disqualification. this means that they have accepted Joost is in fact guilty.

I saw it too. It was obvious to me that he was not coping. Like when that reporter said ''my parents died too so i know how it feels'' with a really serious and sad look on his face, and Joost leaned so far back(to get away from that comment) like he was saying 'i can't hear that right now', plastered a big fake smile on his face, and was just not really there, and angry the rest of the time. We all have our moments, so i feel bad for the woman he threatened, and i also feel bad for him because he clearly has obvious unresolved trauma, as is often the case with people who've been through what he's been through, it often turns to anger, i've seen that in my life, he reminded me of people i know. So i feel for him and hope he is able to, get some help really. He's only 26yrs old, his brain has barely finished developing.

I think it was the right decision to disqualify him. of course its a shame about the great song but there are rules in this contest and i think that threats, violence and disrespectful behavior does not belong in the ESC. We dont know exactly what happened, we just know that the police are investigating and thats reason enough UPDATE: There is a statement by AVROTROS now. Joost did not really attack anyone, apparently he did a threatening movement because he did not want to be filmed. I gotta say that disqualifying him was over reacted. Still this prooves how easily lies can spread as there are so many made-up versions of the incident in this comments. This had nothing to do with Israel or Joost parents.

The EBU released a statement and a member of the Swedish production team had made a complaint. Clearly since the police are involved and he has been disqualified he has done something serious enough to warrant his disqualification.
