This is the 7th of 37 videos in a series in which I'll react to the songs of the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest. Sundays-Thursdays from March 17th through May 6th.
Why did you say 'every time Ukraine has a war...'? Like we have started it ourselves. Every time Ukraine is attacked by Russia - that's correct. It sounds very sad, and I would not be surprised if you support Putin. Your comments about Alyona Alyona sound very rude too because you did not even try to listen her other live performances before jumping to conclusions that she is prerecorded
So making an observation about Eurovosion entries makes me a mass murderer supporter? That's "very rude because you did not even try to listen to my other" opinions. As for my comment about alyona - there's nothing rude with being amazed by the fact she has such extraordinary abilities. The whole point in Eurovision for me is being acquainted with talented artists from different countries I wouldn't hear about otherwise. I WILL listen to her, and many of the other representatives', other performances later.
@@yairmohr The offensive incorrectness on your part is “every time they have a war.” Our кussians are killing women, children, demolishing cities... And for you it’s with a smile “they are having another war”...
@@yairmohr you didn't sound like you were saying you were amazed with her abilities, you said you doubted she was singing live. And I know you didn't mean any disrespect with you observation about what kinds of songs they send during wartime, but it did sound like you did. And I couldn't tell whether you were dissing Go-A or not honestly.
@@yairmohr yep, just check these 2 live performances This one is with Jerry Heil You can start at 0:15 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AG4J0_REQyo.htmlsi=n37v2IJqEtTYrW-G And check this one ru-vid.comBu0wwQK9xXw?si=Exleex5itQaJeZCa
the part with rap is pre-recorded... ha-ha-ha. it's a live performance. Even according to the selection rules, it can't be. Don't be ridiculous. Alyona is the most talented rapper in Ukraine.
Alyona Alyona (rapper) has already proved she can easily do that rap part LIVE countless times. I usually dislike rap but in this song (just like in Stefania) it sounds good, really good.
WRONG on so MANY counts, but you were saying all the crap with such ridiculous confidence, it's a record! 😆😄🙃 IN REALITY: 1. The 2021 Eurovision entry was "Shum" (a brilliant fusion of folk and EDM) by the band Go_A (which means "Go to the Beginning (alpha)). 2. The fact that YOU were not able to appreciate the 2022 winner "Stephania" (with great lyrics and a very creative fusion of folk and rap) and an excellent r-n-b song in 2023 says nothing about their poor quality, just your taste limitations. 😉 3. Cut the BS about pity voting for Ukraine because of the war. The ruSSia's war against Ukraine started in 2014 and is going on to date: it was high-intensity in 2014-2015, then it slowed down and became positional in the Donbas region and has turned into a full-scale invasion at the scale of WW II since 2022. There is no correlation between the war and Ukraine's placement in Eurovision, as she was placed: #3- in 2013, #6 - in 2014, #1 - in 2016, # 24 - in 2017, # 17 - in 2018, #5 - in 2021, #1 - in 2022, #6 - in 2023. 4. There was no war in Ukraine in 2004: the protest called the Orange Revolution was victorious without any victims, and the 2005 Eurovision entry (rap) was weak, but you picked the 2022 winner as a "crappy" example instead. 🙃 5. There were NO Ukrainian revolutions or rap songs in 2006-7: 2004- Ruslana with "Wild dances", 2006- Tina Karol with "Show me your love", 2007- Verka Serduchka "Dancing Lasha Tumbai". 6. There is NO "rap third time in a row": the 2023 entry was an r-n-b song without any rap, and Ukraine's entries are different each year. 7. Alyona's rap was live, it was too good for you to believe that it was real and NOT pre-recorded. 😀 Jerry had problems with her mike and wasn't breathless (after not singing, dah). 8. Currently Alyona & Jerry are #2 per the Eurovision bidding odds. And Eurovision started to appreciate well-built songs combining folk and modern genres, which is why Ukraine's 2021 and 2022 entries were placed so high (#2 and #1 by televote, respectively). Learning facts before/instead of saying BS helps not to look ridiculous. 🙂
Thank you for drowning me in facts. I do like being corrected when I err. Stephania was NOT a great song, and would never even get to the top 10 without the wa - which CAN NOT be likened to WW II, when AT LEAST 70 million people died. It's not MY taste limits, it's EVERYONE'S. Sorry I forgot about the terrible 2005 entry 😉 And like I replied to the previous comment, if that's how alyona performs live she really is a phenomenal performer!
@@yairmohrAgain your mania of grandeur: it's ridiculous to declare YOUR limited taste (including hating rap) as EVERYONE'S taste. 😀 "Stephania" got #1 with a very high score: it was appreciated both by televote and the jury (which is usually shamefully stingy when grading Ukraine, in contrast to their regular favorites). My guess, you never checked the meaningful lyrics of "Stephania". 2. The scale of a war is determined not only by the number of victims but by the scale of the battlefields and its intensity. In February 2022, when ruZZia invaded Ukraine from 7 directions, the front line was ~1500 km long, and now it's >1000 km long. It's a war with all types of weapons used (except nuclear and biological) and fire intensity of 15,000- 60,000 shells shot daily by at least half a million troops. Add to this >>600,000 already killed people, ruined to the ground by ruZZians many dozens of cities, towns, and villages; rockets, cruise missiles, drones, and bombs falling down all over Ukraine and some ruZZia - and you'll get the scale of WW II. Even solely ruZZia's losses to date exceed those of many European countries in WWII: > 438 160 troops, tanks - 6 893, BBM - 13 207, artillery systems - 10 904, MLRS - 1019, air defense systems - 727, airplanes - 347, helicopters - 325, ships (boats) - 26 sunk (+4 damaged this week) +1 submarine, cars and tank trucks - 14 498, etc. Plus, there are Ukrainian losses, including heavy losses among civilians, > a million deported to ruZZia including kidnapped >19, 000 Ukrainian children, and millions of refugees in Ukraine and abroad. Lack of your knowledge doesn't change the scale of events or quality of things- it just limits your perception. 🙂😏
The way this guy proves he doesn't know anything about music while talking as if he was an exptert awes me everytime, he can't even ear the obvious difference between live singing and a prerecorded voice track . Atrocious.
Not coming for Go-A like that... Nothing to do with Hungarian music in any way whatsoever. Ukraine happens to have its own history of music. Really looks like you're fishing for comments by being controversial about Ukraine's situation. Comes off pretty distasteful overall.
I'm not fishing for anything but honesty. And if you think that's controversial, wait until my racon for my own country's song gets published in the first week of May...
It wasn't very different than this, except for Gerry's microphone being MUCH louder, so I could hear her better and enjoy her BEAUTIFUL voice. Alyona sounded exactly the same - unsurprising to you probably, but a pretty amazing feat for me. Now I know some rappers actually have real talents hehe.
Love the melody, love the arrangement, love the vocal contrasts between the two women. What turns me off about this song is the lyrics,. There is just something a little disturbing in suggesting that, here and now in 2024, role models for women are the Virgin Mary and Mother Theresa.
It took 2 full years from the Crimean annexation to "1944" - so technically it's very hard to even connect between the two things (even though we all know they are, no matter what Suspline says).
One of the reasons why countries perform poorly on Eurovision is because they don't want to host it next year. The United Kingdom has already generously hosted it for us once. How many times should we attempt to win in a raw for people to start thinking us being ungrateful. I'm not saying we can win every time, I'm saying we shouldn't even try. Whether it is deliberate or not, why not assume that Ukraine did what everyone else does, just for a little better reasons than usual? We can't ask anyone to host it for us and singing under the ground isn't very tempting for anyone. P.S. Since its independence in 1991, Ukraine never had a war until moskovite invasion, annexation of Crimea and parts of Donbass in 2014. In 2022 that war took on a different stage. We're not in habit of having wars,.
@@argumentativelysound2001 You don't have ex-presidents? OMG, apparently you are still affected by the Russian custom of rewriting your history to delete all former leaders every time a new one raises up...
@@yairmohr "President" in Ukraine is a title for life, they get a number like "Fifth President, Sixth President, etc., there are no "ex-presidents", except the one that ran away. I hope this clears your confusion.
He was so wrong on the subject. :) There was no war in Ukraine in 2004: the protest called the Orange Revolution was victorious without any victims.🙃 There were NO Ukrainian revolutions or rap songs in 2006-7. The war started in 2014 and is going on: it was high-intensity in 2014-2015, then it slowed down and became positional in the Donbas region and has turned into a full-scale invasion at the scale of WW II since 2022. There is no correlation between the war and Ukraine's placement in Eurovision, so it's BS about voting for Ukraine because of war. 🙃
Like natastudy said, some things I remembered wrong, and some things I misnamed. I called the Orange Revolution a war, which I should have known better; For some reason I thought when either Yanukovich or Tymoshenko were brought back, there was another protest rap song about it; And I called last year's R&B song rap. I'll try to be more accurate next year (because this year I've already prerecorded all of my reaction videos). Thank you both for taking the time to reply.
Since Ukraine has started taking part in Eurovision contest in 2003, it always got into the final so your words about the worst songs are not objective. It is your own point of view not more. I also don't like all songs but it does not cancel their level. Comparing Ukrainian culture with Hungarian culture is inappropriate, since the origins of the peoples and their customs are different. Hungarians came to their modern territories from the Ural, their language is evidence of that, and it is ridiculous to talk about their similarities with Ukraine, except for territorial claims of Hungary on neighbour's lands. So many contraversial words in your reaction.
