You don’t know me to make assumptions, but my Major was International Relations in college and I saw what happened during Eurovision and have a right to comment
There’s also the conflict and previous war (which was as recently as 2023) between Armenia and Azerbaijan, both of which are in Eurovision, just like Russia and Ukraine, while not as bad, it’s definitely hypocritical, especially since thousands of Armenians were left homeless, and many slain, not to mention that the border crisis is also still ongoing, it’s by no means as big as the Russia conflict, but it just proves that Eurovision is no stranger to hypocrisy… I’m no expert in this subject, I’d like to mention, but I can still see that there’s something wrong with how Eurovision treats some participants… Then there is also the fact that Israel is a huge supplier to one of the biggest sponsors in Eurovision, that being Morrocanoil… which might be why they got to stay in the competition…

That's a good question, really. All I know is that Israel is a member of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) which puts on the Eurovision Song Contest. Australia also is a participant and they're not "Europe", either.
Israel in general participates in European regional organizations rather than ones that belong to its geographic region. This is true with sports as well. Eden Golan is very gracious and talented. The way she handled that question was very classy. The voice is beautiful and the song is so powerful that it gives a goose bumps. Great artist.

The fact that the Westbank also sees their eviction rates and settler violence go up says enough about you land grabbin thieves. Daddy USA won't be able to protect you all the time. Israel implements discriminatory planning policies and land confiscation in order to effectively bar Palestinian from living there, the Israeli state directly controls 93% of the land in the country, including occupied East-Jeruzalem. The ILA manages and allocates these lands, half of its members belong to the JNF whose explicite mandate is to develop and lease land for Jews and not any other segment of the population. The Israeli government restricts the movement of Palestinians, while they make up 21% of the population, in 2017 less than 3 percent of all land in Israel falls under the jurisdiction of Palestinian municipalities. Since 1948, the government has authorized the creation of more than 900 “Jewish localities” in Israel, but none for Palestinians except for a handful of government-planned townships and villages in the Negev and Galilee, created largely to concentrate previously dispersed Bedouin communities. The authorities have zoned large sections of Palestinian towns and villages for “agricultural” use or as “green” areas, prohibited residential building in them, and built road and other infrastructure projects that impede expansion. A 2003 Israeli government-commissioned report found that “many Arab towns and villages were surrounded by land designated for purposes such as security zones, Jewish regional councils, national parks and nature reserves or highways, which prevent or impede the possibility of their expansion in the future.” That's what you call democracy mate? That's the purest form of Apartheid and anti-Western norms and values. Israeli law permits towns in the Negev and Galilee (which comprise two-thirds of the land in Israel) with up to 400 households to maintain admissions committees that can reject applicants from living there for being “not suitable for the social life of the community” or for incompatibility with the “social-cultural fabric.” This authority effectively permits the exclusion of Palestinians from small Jewish towns. Human Rights Watch documented in 2008 discriminatory Israeli policies and practices that left tens of thousands of Palestinian Bedouins in southern Israel living in “unrecognized” informal settlements, where their homes face the constant threat of demolition, and in 2010, discriminatory planning in a Palestinian village near Tel Aviv. International human rights law prohibits racial and ethnic discrimination, condemns “racial segregation,” and safeguards the right to adequate housing. The International Covenant on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights (ICESR), which Israel has ratified, requires states to ensure that policies and legislation progressively realize the right to adequate housing for all segments of society. The body tasked with interpreting the covenant has said that “enjoyment of this right must … not be subject to any form of discrimination” and that “increasing access to land by landless or impoverished segments of the society should constitute a central policy.” and more laws and policies which are based on Apartheid.

@@Jagiyoborahae Even if what you say would be true she could have answered herself the question was rude. I still think protection was needed because of this participation. And that had to be paid by the organization. I too was wandering for an answer yet prepared to accept her answer. She was shut up by a man of her team too which i found rude. Let her speak for herself she seems smart enough. And she did well. Does she have a trauma now?
@@inge-nellahuijssoon4075 well yes. She could’ve easily gotten disqualified if she said something even a LITTLE politic. Which of course such question is very prone to be answered politically… I still think it shouldn’t have been asked. Same thing could’ve went to the Ukrainian participants if I had to ask such a question, which is an absolutely ridiculous question to ask a person in the first place. Especially a 20 year old, that’s a young adult… thankfully she answered it so well.
You knew all the way that Israel will be there. You could refuse to participate like many coutries wanted to do in 2022 bcs of Russia. Why didn't you do it? Why everyone acts like they found out about Israel participation today???
What a checkmate lmao. We have no room or reason to complain because "guyz you knew Israel was gonna be there!!! Its your own fault for letting your countries participate!!" keep defending Israel killing thousands of people little jackass
(To the one posting this video: Delete all my comments - I’ll keep posting you dirty evil person) That flag represents: And this is evidence published by expert analysts that hold no bias - not this propaganda bs - Israel controls the daily water supply of Palestine for years. They receive less than a refugee camp in such a desert region. - Israel is racist against their own people - if you’re not an Ashkenazi - they treat you like less. You’re stripped away from your roots like not being able to speak your country’s language or reproductive rights like Ethiopian Jews were treated - the apartheid law treats Palestinian less. Like the West Bank - where Hamas doesn’t even exists - illegal settlements continue to happen. Palestinians are robbed from their homes and nothing happens to the Israelis that do the robbery. If a Palestine dares to fight back and defend their home - they can get murdered and nothing happens to those murderers That flag symbolizes murder, racism, violence and evil. Keep on being proud
They fought against a country that occupied their lands in 1990 when Azerbaijan was weak. They just took their internationally recognized land back, and they fought against an army, not civilians. We are talking about more than 20,000 civilians whom Israel killed. How many civilians died in the Armenia-Azerbaijan war? They are incomparable.
@@jojoball11 who said that I support hamas? From the very beginning of the war, I always supported Israel. But they are going a bit too wild for this. They have to put an end to this. The fact that hamas did this to jewish civilians doesn't justify what israel is doing right now. Hamas is a terror organization. You cannot kill thousands of civilians just because there are terrorists among them.
I hope they will, even win the eurovision, it's gonna be happy happy joy joy for all gays and queers as soon they will arrived to beautiful gay friendly gaza, it will be a blast..........
@@ghst4487😂😂😂 the loudest clearly not the smartest…..the public vote showed the silent majority spoke against the loud few. You are the walking un educated 🤡
@@w.i.t.c.h.aholic9315 only 6% of the population in the palestine region were jews before the country of Israel was formed, but people who don't know history don't know that :)
@@w.i.t.c.h.aholic9315 Let me guess, nobody was living there for 1000s of years are well and the European jews immigrants went there and established a state on an empty land ? Your delusion and lies are ridiculous.
1-Rusia invaded Ukraine in 2014 and was allowed in Eurovision for 8 years after that, even reaching the finals multiple times 2-Israel is part of the European Broadcasting since the 50s, thats why they are part of the festival
Because Russia is a country who attacked Ukraine! Israel didn't attack anyone, they are responding to attack of Hamas terrorists! That is a huge difference! You forgot or don't know that Palestinians killed more than thousand of innocent people just for one day and they started this war?
filled with so much hate, you know what politics cant erase? israel didnt complain when the judges votes were very clearly rigged, i think you believe that people who yell the loudest are the majority but the irony is the netherlands gave their 12 points to her, us irish gave her our 10 points our voices maybe were quiet but we were heard and i know it hurts so you say everything but addmitting the truth, not new
This is OUT OF PROPORTION!!! It is complete madness to disqualify Joost for saying "WHY NOT"? He is simple trying to encourage Eden to be brave and answer the question of a that Polish journalist. The journalist should be one who needs to be disqualified for bringing the politics into conversation.
hear hear ! Imagine Joost being disqualified for snapping when he was provoked and possibly slapped the person. How's that, comparising to what Israel does in Gaza ? Absolutely bizar !
Unironically eurovision gives me that little bit of hope that people will be united via the universal language of music and remember that we're all humans in the end.
