In 2018 we almost had 2 songs called either "Who we Are" or "Light me Up", with the titles of San Marino's or Poland's entry or one of the two Melodi Grand Prix entries respectly performed by Rebecca and Nicoline, sadly Rebecca finished second and Nicoline failed to qualify for the first voting round.
How about song titles which mean the same in different languages. A few examples: - Love Is (UK 85) & Ljubav Je (BIH 16) - Sans toi (FR 73), Without You (NED 04) & Sense Tu (AND 06) - My Dream (MLT 10) & Oniro Mou (GRE 18)
It will be really many examples))) And we can't consider them all anyway, just imagine how many songs since 1956 had the same titles in different languages, especially knowing there was a language rule before like 1995
@@escserg6731 You're right about that. Off the top of my head, here is an example which could be in this video: Lonely Symphony (UK 94) & Love Symphony (SLO 09)
Fun Fact: Slavko's Space was 11th in the British televote, making it the UK's most favorite Montenegrin entry. The UK is yet to give pts to Montenegro to this day.
Both of Coming Home are absolutely lovely!! Edit: and the Tick Tocks, Hasta La Vistas and Storms! Not The Same and We Could Be The Same are my favourites! I will be showing this video to my family they will love it :)
Actually you could've waited until after the Contest to include WRS's ESC performance, but I guess we're all too excited! And fitting that Mata Hari (Efendi) shared its name with an old Norwegian entry (Hi, Tix).
Last year I also didn't wait to the Eurovision to include ESC performances) This year we have only one Llamame, while last year we had Mata Hari, 2 Amens, something else...
Another similar tittles: Spain 1972 - Spain 2015 / Amanece - Amanecer Spain 2016 - Denmark 2020 / Say Yay! - Yes Spain 1979 - Spain 2018 / Su canción - Tu canción
Some other suggestions, some less farfetched than others, that have not been mentioned yet: Satellite (🇩🇪 2010) // Satellit (🇸🇪 1979) Dinge Dong (🇳🇱 1975) // Ding Dong (🇮🇱 2011) Socrates (🇬🇷 1979) // Sócrates (🇮🇸 1988) Hora (🇮🇱 1982) // Hora din Moldova (🇲🇩 2009) Disko (🇸🇮 2021) // Disco Tango (🇩🇰 1979)
The two "Coming Home"s are visually so similar 🙂. And I love both of them ♥️. Edit: Am I the only one who loves Two Tricky "Angel" (Iceland 2001)? Can't help, it's just so cute and catchy!
"Hold Me ..." seems like a successful title (also judged from the probably high placement for Sweden's song this year). "Goodbye" seems to mean goodbye to a top 10 placement though, and also has some strange connection to the number 18 (including being from 2018).
I love both "Coming Home" and "This Is My Life" songs! Also it's quite funny that one song named "Fairytale" is so one of the best songs that in ESC history and another is one of the worst (I mean, she's a very good singer but the level of cheesiness in this song is too high even for me, though I usually like cheesy songs in ESC) "Sister" by Germany was, actually, underrated in 2019 in my opinion.
Halo at 22:30 doesn't really apply as these words are false friends. Halo in Serbo-Croatian is the word 'hello', but specifically used when picking up the phone and nothing else as it's borrowed from English and made to sound more palatable for the local ear. The world for halo is 'oreol' in Serbian and Croatian.
It is sad when you see all of these songs no not songs: Masterpieces are lost to never see it live again. Especially the songs of 2020. Furthermore there are songs that is a loss that not have qualified. Like Czech Republic in 2015 for example( A very powerful song) and that is just a tip of the ice mountain..
Funny that Sanja matches with the song title with two other songs in 2016 (Goodbye) and four years later matches again with two songs, this time as a part of the group hurricane (Hasta la vista) :D
Spain has 2 songs that practically have the same title; Su canción (1979) and Tu canción (2018). We know that we are an irrelevant country, but that you forget us in this way... T_T *Edit: More! Vivo cantando (1969), Canta y sé feliz (1974), Enséñame a cantar (1977) and as a curious fact, the Spanish representative of 2020 and 2021 is surnamed Cantó.
I put in my honorable mention #1 only songs that have basically the same title but written in different ways: "Maria Magdalena" vs "Marija Magdalena" and "1 Life" vs "One Life". I just didn't check any other similar titles) In 2020 and 2021 you were represented by the same person)
@@escserg6731 They know they were represented by the same person in 2020 and 2021, what they meant is that Blas's last name, Cantó, is also a way we conjugate the verb of cantar.
Joan Franka from the Netherlands in 2012 has the caucasity to wear an imitation of a Native American headpiece, just wow. she sang a country song and it makes sense (?)
SPECIAL PREDICTION! Sweden 2022 was in a trio with 1st placed Johnny Logan and 2nd placed Farid Mammadov. With this logic, Sweden will achieve 3rd place this year ;) Any opinions on that?
I personally would be kind of OK with this. Sweden always comes high at ESC (excluding last year, fans were too negative about that and it affected the jury voting), 2nd-5th places are quite usual for them. So, let it be 3rd, but just don't win please.
@@filipgrmsek Yeah, different. Anyway, they placed 2nd-5th so many times not being different) The same thing is gonna happen this year, with a different song for them. Nothing will change
I think this would be an endlessly longer video if you also included translations like "Zeit" (D 1997) which also means Time or the different versions of "Feuer" (BRD 1978) and "Fuego" (CY 2018) or even "Qami" (ARM 2018), "Hurrican" (A 1983) and "Falter im Wind" (A 1972), all referring to wind etc
@@escserg6731 Yeah yeah, I know hahaha but it's still spanish so that's why I found it funny, although in Spain Terminator says "sayonara baby" not hasta la vista
My honorable mention #1 was only about the songs that sound the same but are written a bit differently) Maybe next year I will make this category wider and include this too, who knows)
@@VLDKOS я розумію. Але всеж таки Олександр Валерійович псевдонімів не брав та представляють його у більшості випадків не просто "Олександр" а "Олександр Пономарьов".
I was lazy to put the studio version as an audio track and the live performance as the video track (because it’s the way to avoid Melodifestivalen copyrights), so I just took an audio and put it in my every video
My 1st honorable mention was all about songs that have basically the same title but written in different ways) "Hero" and "Heroes" are written sound differently)
Honorable mentions are so dumb. why Maria and Marija Magdalena are in honorable mentions (exactly the same title when translated to English)? not to mention 1/one life
Because they're written differently. I don't translate titles here in English. Honorable mention #2 was just for fun, if you see this as "dumb" - OK, your personal opinion)
Magnificent video !!! Great job !!! I loved it ...!!! Many of my favorite songs were there...even if they didn't win... Example...Hold Me by Azerbaijan...Never let yo go by Dima Bilan...you are the only one Sergey Lazarev...Stay... etc ... 👏👏👏👏
