"Out of Spec Reviews" already made a less sensationalist video explaining the possible main causes for such event. And I'm not even going to try and change anyone's mind about EVs, I personally think they've developed far quickly than I was expecting, and almost beyond what I typically need from a daily driver/commuter vehicle, with some occasional long distance weekend road trips. And yes, I too think there's not enough EVs on the market with the range of Tesla Model 3, and at cheaper prices... but I wouldn't call them junk either!

I live in northern Virginia. I have seen Teslas driving around in the summer with the windows down, presumably to save energy to get where the driver needs to go. Now that we are experiencing the joys of winter, I am seeing reports of EVs being difficult to charge and hold a charge. No thanks. I will be keeping my trusty internal combustion engine vehicle!!!

I can fill a near empty fuel tank in 5 minutes or less, and I have much better range. Even EVs depend on fossil fuels to power the chargers. So stop pretending that EVs are so green and use something reliable instead.

Its the chemical reality of batteries. Cold temperatures are bad news, but because you need to use power for heating etc the range is reduced even more 😮

I'm sorry, were you people not informed of this before your purchase? Were you not informed of battery life in cold temperatures in jr. High school? In the 1960s we were taught never leave home in the winter without cables because battery life is slim.

Nobody does their homework. Within 8-12 years, you will (not maybe) have to change the battery at a mere $20,000. The car won’t be worth half that at that point. So it’s either dump $20,000 into a car worth under $5000 or junk it because anyone that buys it will ask the first question-when was that battery last changed? If the answer is never-dealers alike will walk away. The engine on my ICE car should last the life of the car if I take care of it. But god forbid something did happen and I needed a new engine, it might run me anywhere from $5000-$7500-a far cry from a $20,000 battery!

if you don't have way to charge up overnight at home do not buy EV for now. Superchargers are suppose to be only for road tripping. People who use supercharges everyday will run into problems like that and also pay 2-3 times more than charging at home.

Here's a dilemma EV... won't charge in cold. Battery freezes over several days. Only option now, tow it to an indoor recharging or mechanic shop, and hope it doesn't burn down while attempting to get back to 100%> and a couple days later deal with the same issues.

@@kurtdobson It wasnt really an "useless personal attack". You probably havent seen Game of Thrones, so you dont know the phrase: "You know nothing Jon Snow". Your "facts" are just plain wrong. The purpose of only charging the battery to 80% is to make it retain efficiency as long as possible, the same applies to cell phones but people dont really remember. EV batteries have a warranty of 8 years but the vast majority are expected to last 15+ years. EV batteries does drop a little of their capacity but not even close to what you claim. For Teslas if the battery retention goes below 70% before 8 years then it is covered by the warranty. The same applies for most other EVs out there. The average battery retention loss per year is about 2% of max capacity. So after 5 years then it will be on 90%.

In all fairness, this happens to ALL electric vehicles (not just Teslas). Good luck to all waiting +1 hr for a charge then dreading doing the same the next morning because their cars lose range even while parked outside/not moving. 😂 Also, better luck if you have a garage and can’t sleep well knowing your ev has potential to cause a fire and burn down your home.

But why aren't they mentioning the thousands of people with out enough power to heat their home and cook their meals because of these idiots charging cars.2 years ago I had to double the size of the UPS on my server to over it over night in cold and hot weather! Last night, I had a low battery warning again!

Im in construction and those who know... Know cordless drills almost stop working cause of the cold.. States that have winter shouldn't buy them.. They vote for biden and does what he tells em to do... 😆

Anybody who knows a little about electronics will also know that batteries perform worse in the cold. Even the single battery in my gasoline car loses charge a lot quicker in the winter months compared to the spring months. So of course an EV will be even worse...

Filled up my Chevy Cruze Diesel 7 days ago and it still has just under a quarter tank left !!! 15 degrees outside where my car is parked and the diesel starts up first time , every time !!! Guess those EV owners should have purchased an optional 2,000 dollar electric heating blanket so their $50,000 EV could turn their lights on !!! Just an observation

No, their argument is that these people are poor and don’t own homes with a charger and don’t have careers that allow them to barely ever drive. Thus making the vehicle a poor choice for such people. To me that is the biggest reason not to own one.

The only problem here is the uneducated EV drivers.. clearly didn't do their research before buying one.. if you can't get a home charger, then EV is not for you..
