Great stuff bro! I’m always impressed with point source and feel they do have sound/volume edge over columns. But the sleek look and ease of the column setup is unbeatable

As someone who has been in the industry for over 12 years, it is refreshing to listen to someone who understands, and communicates their content about this as good as you do. Keep up the awesome job you're doing . Definitely a new sub.

I did a prom with the Evox 12's with over 500 kids and they bumped. Didn't even have to push them to the max. I'm sure the other is more powerful as you say but I'll take those evox 12's over the others any day.

Nice comparison! When I was shopping, I took a hard look at both the EV Evolve 50 and RCF Evox 12. Hard pass on the EV Evolve 50. The RCF Evox 12 was much better with sound, quality and versatility. I like the Evox 12 because I can use for a small event with 75 guests and a bigger event for up to 200. Thanks for all that you do and helping future buyers make informed decisions 🙏🏽

I like the ease of setting up my Bose column arrays because I only need one xlr cable and do not have to velcro the cables to a pole. I also like my QSC point source system because it can be broken down in to different configurations…two mains for a public address, add one or two subs depending on the requirements.
@DJDarylBennett
@DJDarylBennett 3 месяца назад
Point source is very modular! Doesn't sound like much work to have two sets of xlr and power cables, but once you try column arrays, it becomes a chore!

Ev 50 are fantastic for those small events. The reason why I love my rcf j8s. I have the ev elx 12 and 18 subs in white for my large events such as weddings and sweet 16. They look good and great for the price point they are in. Even so I would love etx for larger events

I did a downtown wedding in my city and there really was nowhere near the venue to park and ticketing was being enforced. So at these venues I generally bring someone along so that I can pull right up the venue and have them unload and I go park at a lot blocks away. So at times I don't have an assistant it's just me. This is where something like the RCF Evox or EV Evolve shines! I can park 3 blocks away and put this small system on a push cart. It's somewhat far for pushing two big subs, tops, my table, bags, etc. The Evox takes up like half of the space of a point source system in a cart. And boy do I appreciate the small size when I leave at like 10pm at night with 3 blocks to travel by myself! I have DJ'd in Center City Philadelphia and Manhattan NY with the Evox. It's enough for a wedding 90% of the time.

Awesome comparison. I own the EKX system. The 12s just have that warm rich sound when paired with the subs. I have the 18s and it just provides richness and texture from the high, mids and lows especially in those wooden cabinets. I stayed w the EKX because they’re not an over kill and they can give a serious punch with the crossover settings. Portability and convenience is nice as well and it’s always a plus to have that as well.

I downgraded from the ETX line and the ekx offers incredible portability and loudness. It's really similar to the ETX output and much more lightweight and portable

As much as I love the evox, RCF for life, the evolve 50 is still the best overall choice for Price, good sound, sizing, and weight. Most events are 100 people and less, anything more you’re gonna buy a whole new sound system with 15in tops and 18in subs.
@AjayTheDjay

I would say the rcf J8 are the best bang for the buck, in my opinion. I do 150-175 person events with that system and no issues. If I did bigger events, I would go evox 12.

RCF Evox 12 vs. MAUI 28G3, what's your take on those two. In white they look amazing, but EV 50 don't have the head room. Still I loved my EV 50, but they didn't have the power so I had to move on. Great video Daryl.

28G3 is a competitor to Evolve 50 and RCF J8. Evox 12 is a level higher than the three 12" speakers.
@DJDarylBennett
@DJDarylBennett 3 месяца назад
Like others have said, the evolve 50 is on par with the the 28g3. The Maui 44 g2 is around 15% louder than the evox 12 and is about 15% less portable. Imo, if a column arrays gets too big and heavy, it loses a lot of it's benefit. The ekx is louder, cheaper, and not much smaller than the 44g2. But the 44g2 comws in white and looks great

I love my EV Evolves but I would never let them do a gig alone, the bass is just not there. I bring 2 FBT Subline112sa's and OMG WHAT A HUGE DIFFERENCE in full sound. I also use a BBE which makes those subs sound like 15"s. But, Im selling the Evolves and getting FBT 206A and run 4 FBT subline 112sa's or 2 BASSBOSS BB15's.

No one talks about the power valley in the middle of the dance floor that happens when you have arrays hard left and right (an emptiness of bass). Subs should always be placed in the middle except for special circumstances

Yeah you make some sacrifices with optimal sound by having a speaker + sub on the left and on the right, especially with wide dispersion speakers
@jasonflores1990
@jasonflores1990 10 дней назад
bass cancellation is such a huge issue with column arrays because you HAVE to spread the subs out on each side. I always use sub in the middle, coupled with 2 or 3 if need be, and it sounds so much better.

It's funny but I see so many DJs who think that louder is better. Often they end up going too loud and they piss off the crowd or venue owner. Several of my DJ buddies went out of business due to cost. One of the biggest for most of them was hiring roadies. If they had something like the Evolve 50 they could have been doing gigs without a roadie. This allows the DJ to pocket all of the money instead of paying helpers and roadies. Also there is the time factor. In and out of the venue really quickly is best. With the Evolve 50 it never takes me more than 30 min to setup or breakdown. Heck more like 20 min!
@DJDarylBennett
@DJDarylBennett Месяц назад
Louder is sometimes necessary. I have a 300+ outdoor wedding coming up in the middle of nowhere, and I'm taking the EKX 12p/15sp combo. But that is even more streamlined than the old passive systems I was used to in my band with a giant rack case filled with amps. The evolve 50 was truly one of the most influential speakers; full-range, sounds great, perfect for many mobile types of events, can easily fit in a sedan.

Interesting comparison! Thats really interesting to know that an EKX 12 inch top and 15 inch sub beats the EVOX 12 in terms of loudness - I was surprised by that for sure!! Especially because the EKX Sub is also 15 inch and smaller. I haven't picked up any column array speakers yet, but am thinking hard about it and this was really helpful. Thanks for the great video!!

I have the EKX 15sp it sounds better and deeper than my QSC KS212c dual 12” sub. I will be selling my QSC for another EKX 15. What sucks about the QSC it’s way too wide for my liking, always in cardioid mode it’s not switchable like the EKX model, is not worth the price. It is also heavier. The EKX 15 I could curl that thing all day and sounds amazing. The KS series very under performing.

pair of EKX12p can handle smaller events (use the DSP for bass boost and don't go super loud) and then the evolve 50 is redundant.
