@@Flickerbrain How would you feel if all your food has to be grown in land tainted by e-waste? Oh I know, you don’t care as long as it’s out of sight and out of mind. The western EV industry thrived for the past few years because all the pollution had been outsourced to China. And now a significant percent of Chinese farmland and water are tainted with heavy metals, leading them to hog more water resources from India and all the other downstream countries. Here in the Philippines, indigenous groups had to fight against mining companies from Canada, China, America and Australia to prevent open pit mining of copper, nickel, cobalt and other essential minerals for EVs. Be realistic. EVs aren’t the unicorn you think it is.

If you live in an apartment, or a house that only has on street parking, or a house that has a dated electrical system, you can't do at home charging. Without at home charging, EVs aren't worth the hassle. Even when public EV chargers are available and work, sitting around and waiting for the EV to charge is much slower than filling up a gas tank.
@buddy1155
@buddy1155 Месяц назад
If you can't charge at home but you can charge at work, that would be fine as well, most people are at least 8 hours at work and that is more than long enough to charge for a 300 mile commute both ways.
@reiniernn9071
@reiniernn9071 Месяц назад
Anyone making a simple calculation would understand that even that dated house can charge an ev (during the night) without any issues. Driving an average amount of km daily can be charged at night (when most other electricity appliances are not working.) With 6 km/kwh you can charge with 1 to 2 kw consumption (level 1 charging or level 2 charging)... more or less the same power as a vacuum cleaner uses. But I do agree that not every appartment will have chargers at their parking lot....however that also depends on which country and city you are living. In other words...in front of the door of my (99 year old) mother there is a public charging spot ... Withing a few 100 meters I cvan find at least 6 other publicspots for charging cars. Price (in Rotterdam, Netherlands) is reasonable for those public spots. Og, before my retirement my company had placed public chargers on their parking...in 2013 already (on my request). Making it possible to use my shortrange nissan leaf 2013 to go to my work ...charging it there and at home.

What if the car could drive itself to a charger, charge, then drive home and park itself; fully charged for you in the morning?

hit the nail on the head here....eco fanatic's think EVERYONE owns a house....not so much....ppl who rent a apartment or 4 plex dont have access to charging ports....and like hel would i go and park my car at a public station in my city. and not every work has electric chargers....in my city only dealerships have them.
@buddy1155
@buddy1155 Месяц назад
@@ericgregori I normally think that self driving cars are the stupidest invention ever, especially if there is a person in it with nothing else to do. This is actually not a bad idea, although having chargers at residential parking spots would be a lot cheaper solution.

EVs will never beat my hilux in terms of durability and reliability. Plus I can fix it on my own. And I’m planning to get a Hilux Champ once it’s available. ICE vehicles are only more expensive in the US because of all the extra BS they try to add into it, plus taxes and all artificial cost by the ESG overlords. All the reason Hilux Champ will never be available there.

@FraiseVache
@FraiseVache Месяц назад
Yeah. Completely biased arguments to spread FUD. Happy owner of a Model Y myself and never going back. Even if you pay me I don’t want to own a gas car again. Yeah some cars have defects. And a lot of recent EVs were designed to have those to get people off EVs. Most car brands do not have a clear path to move to full EVs production and lack the expertise. They will do anything to get people to believe EVs are not reliable. But Teslas are part of the most reliable cars on the planet. So now we know it’s not about EVs but simple bad engeneering. Either on purpose (some of them) or because EVs are still side projects with B teams for the others.

I'm living in a downtown condo without charging infrastructure so I stick to my ICE car until public charging gets better - but then, I have access to good public transport and don't need much petrol per month. Some of this video is nonsense. Homeowners don't "get a heart attack" from the electricity bills - I understand there are special rates for EV charging - and that in many states, electricity costs 10 c per kWh or less.

There are gas cars, electric cars, and Teslas. Teslas are a completely different vehicle experience from purchase to driving. People thought they could buy any EV and get the Tesla experience. These are the people in the study going back to gas. If you want a world-class car that charges at home and drives itself, the only option is Tesla. Everything else is a cheap knockoff.

EV charging is optimal at home with solar panels and energie storage, ok in citys... worse in suburbs and absolutely the worst on countyside. Im living in germany, at one out of sixteen capital citys, that has 3 charging stations with miserable charging speeds (22kW per hour max). There is not one station for supercharging! Thats why i bought a petrol fueled car and not a Tesla. And we have a lot of Kreisverkehr, so the elimination of the turn signal lever is a shame.
@tenwatts2378

Where in Germany? I look at the charging map in Germany and there are tons of chargers. Seems even better than Sweden and Sweden is very good.
@powerbutton2694
@powerbutton2694 Месяц назад
@@tenwatts2378 many of them are at private parking lots/ hotels... only a few are publicly available. I wont drive 5 kilometer just to charge for 5 hours in a crowded place and they are most likely being used, because german citys are a shithole for free parking space. You have to pay everywhere per hour. Thats why EVs park there without charging or they pretend to charge, but are fully charged just to park there for free.
