I just can't stop listening to Eva Cassidy. Her angelic voice is so beautiful, pure and perfect. She sings with such an effortless ease....you truly get lost in her music. It's so tragic of her loss, so young and that her talent wasn't able to be heard by the whole world. If I were a record producer, I would've signed her in a second. No hesitation and no need to be put in one single genre. She could have been on multiple charts at the same time.
I am seventy and I've never really heard her sing before. What a wonderful talent. It is so sad she is gone I feel cheated. R.I.P. Eva. Much love, J.O.
Oh my,,, Eva was definitely an angel here on earth. Her voice was so bright and clear. I am a HUGE fan and have all her music. Chuck Brown is the gentleman on whose album Eva is singing (she's the guest artist, believe it or now). We lost Eva before she could become a BIG star while still alive, but her music will live on forever! Search Wikipedia for Eva Cassidy AND Chuck Brown to find the album this song is from.
from what i've read in interviews and album notes, eva never sought fame or riches, she just loved to sing. several major artists, most notably mick fleetwood, requested her in backing vocals. seems she was offered a record deal w/atlantic records, but the suits didn't know how to market her; she refused to focus on a single genre b/c as you see/hear in her recordings, she embraced all of them. God bless her!
Calvin Nay I think they wanted to market her as a jazz artist and she made an album with a jazz band? But she wanted to do all genres and not be confined to one so she was unsatisfied and left the label.
I'll NEVER understand why someone - some huge corporation - who backs people "out there" with NO TALENT at all - WHY wouldn't they choose to back this incredible voice instead???? She may not be with us any longer on the earth, but her voice will never die - and she out sings ANY of these jokes for talent we have today!!! I've never heard anything like Eva's voice in all my life - I HOPE someone realizes the perfection of it and will stand behind this angel.
Kenny Loggins version is the best ever....great great song...thank you Eddie Arnold. I just discovered Eva...what an amazing soulful gift she shares. Dang....where has she been all my life?
If I were to have had the opportunity to listen to her in person, I'd have to be carried out. She is so pure that I would have cried till I was limp in awe... So beautiful!
One of my favorite songs of all time. I think Eddy Arnold wrote and did it first. This is a fantastic version. Eva is timeless and she and Chuck made magic on it. Forever grateful to learn of Eva's music several years ago but not soon enough. By the way, Kenny Loggins also does a great cover on his Celebrate me Home album.
What a wonderful throwback for me ! I have just been transported back to my teen years and experienced again the bitter sweet memories when I could not express my feelings for the one I loved secretly. This song is both painful and wonderful as a reminder of the past . Thank you martyRaper.
