This version of Over the Rainbow is absolutely beautiful and is like a lullaby, very soothing although it did cause some tears. Good reaction, You Made Roscoe!😊❤

The first time, and many times, i listened to this song, i could not help but cry. This was done in January of 1996. She was diagnosed with melanoma in June or July of that year and she passed away on November 2, 1996. She’s gone way too soon. But out loss is heaven’s gain. RIP in Paradise Miss Eva.

Dude Eva Cassidy is amazing. One of my All time favourite Female artists an her version of Over The Rainbow is my favourite Checkout - Songbirds, Fields of Gold, Autumn Leaves, Danny Boy, Ain't No Sunshine etc In May of 1996, Eva Cassidy showed up at a release party for "Live at Blues Alley" walking with a cane. She had recently fallen while painting a mural and blamed the spill on a hip injury. Within three months, the singer would be diagnosed with melanoma so advanced it had already spread to her bones..Eva Cassidy was a Washington singer just beginning to share her voice with the wider world when she died of cancer in 1996 at age 33 unfortunately before her music was discovered by mainstream media and public .

@@youmaderoskoe So sad, such a beautiful angelic voice.that most of us never got to experience while she was still alive. I absolutely love this version..Such a great loss not only to music but the world Now the whole world knows who she is. Atleast we have her music to keep her memory alive.

I love EVA -- But Sarah Vaughan sang 'Over the Rainbow' and once Sarah sings a song it is unlikely to hear anything comparable. This is pretty sweet, but no The Sarah Vaughan version wil always be the one for me.

Just an opinion and an observation, but this is not a cover of Judy's song, it is an uncovering of the true meaning of the song that Like God who exists outside of time and space as we understand it, the interpretation of this song has broken time and space also to give us all a better vision that we are being given a glimpse into the future Rapture of God's Church and that we will be able to fly above the Rainbow like the happy bluebirds when we join the Lord in the sky during His Second Comming. Maybe my imagination is over reaching, but thatvis the picture that was🎉 painted for me when I first heard this live singing and guitar playing of Eva's a few short weeks ago.

Eva was unknown in her lifetime. She died of cancer at 34. Her music was discovered by 2 British DJ's two years after her death and then became known by the general public. A couple of other new suggestions. First Aid Kit are two sisters from Sweden. Try The lion's roar (live at Glastonbury 2017). Also the official music video for Take me down by The Pretty Reckless. Their singer Taylor Momsen was an actress. She played Cindy Lou Who in the Grinch movie with Jim Carrey.

I grew up with the Judy Garland version and loved it but this is better emotionally. Considered one of the best singers of her time. She had a cold during this performance and she considered it not her best. Remember this is live. No added studio stuff added. She died at 33. 63 to 96

Hello. I guess your name is Roscoe? First time coming across your channel.. I have no idea what kind of music you like in general, but you have just heard one of the most beautifully pure voices I have ever heard in my life and I am pretty old. If you have never reacted to the Documentary of Eva Cassidy, I just heard it and it is excellent and will touch your heart. I really like your voice and manner. I guess you know you are in competition with LOTS of other reactors. One of my first reactors I ever heard is found on WIDD. If you want to see a very successful and entertaining reaction, go to his channel and request Amazing Grace by Dan Vasc. I just thought you would enjoy seeing what else is out there. At the very least, you will laugh a lot!! I wish you all the best. I am not consistent at this but will check on you soon to see if you reacted to Eva's Story or not. Thank you. ☺👌

I have never understood why both reactors and listeners feel the need to declare one version of a song better than another artist's version? They are obviously two different versions. Two different interpretations ... even two completely different styles. Can't we just focus on the positive aspects of each version, without having to declare one the best one? They can both be the best one, in regards to their individual aspects. A critique can still be done, comparing how the artist you are reacting to, is different from a previous or original artist, and why they are different. You did some of that in regards to talking about how Eva's version made you feel ... the intimacy of the song being done with an acoustic guitar. These are important comparisons, but they don't detract from the original performer. In this instance the song was originally written back in 1939 to accompany a movie soundtrack. No one was doing aacoustic guitar in movie soundtracks back then, they were usually accompanied by sweeping orchestral scores, so it's natural that the versions sound different. But that does not validate or invalidate one versus the other. I enjoyed your reaction, and I'm glad that you are looking forward to exploring more of Eva's catalog, because she has many other wonderful songs to hear. Most of her songs are covers, so again I would encourage both you and your viewers to appreciate the positive aspects of Eva's performances, as well as the positive aspects of anyone who may have done a song before. In most instances, two or more artists that have performed the same song, each have their own place in music history. You can certainly say that you prefer one version over another, without also saying that it's actually better. Instead, sharing that you just prefer one version over the other. Also in this particular instance, you don't have to give up your love and appreciation for Judy Garland's beautiful and innocent version from over 80 years ago ... you can love them both. 😊 ☮️ Steve

Steve, what a load of horse shyte. So, u like all music the same? Impossible and disingenuous. Can u appreciate all great music? Of course...what makes great music great is in the eye of the beholder. Consider the life of Van Gogh for Christ's sake. I bet u cleaned your dinner plate as a child each and every time without a fuss huh? Fans are called fans for a reason...fanatics. There is absolutely nothing wrong with feeling special connections to a piece of music, art, woman, food...the list is endless.
