I've seen a lot of prop and armor building tutorials, and yours are already some of the most fun to watch. You do a great job explaining how things work, give helpful tips about what to do and what not to do, and just have a really great attitude! I've had a stack of EVA foam sitting in my room for years now, and kept putting off even starting a project, but your videos got me so amped up that I decided tonight to get started! So thank you for that. Keep up the great work, Joe!
Dude, thank you so much for your praise! :D I just try to make the videos as informative and concise as I can while still being personable. In my own mind the key (at least when I was learning) is not feeling like you're attending a lecture, but rather a friend showing you something cool. I've got plenty more things in the works that I hope you all enjoy!
DemonWeasel1990 That's really good advice! I'll remember that when I'm doing instructional/tutorial videos from now on. Looking forward to seeing your future vids!
I spent two hours today trying to find info on this exact thing. I logged into youtube and saw that you had just uploaded this. Perfect timing. Great video!
I realize it's been 4 years, but I really enjoyed your video! Learned a lot about strapping and adhesives that I had not picked up from several ebooks and other videos by pros on RU-vid!
I truly appreciate your videos and talent! I am a miniature model creator/builder working in scratch builds that are then molded to reproduce casts and hand detailed. I have a daughter who together we are obsessed with Cosplay and I am now in the process of using some of the model world knowledge for her costumes, your videos are a ton of help! I hope to soon share some of our creations as you do, just know that you are an inspiration.
This is my first time working with Eva foam for cosplaying and tbh I had no clue about what I'm doing until I watched your videos! Everything became so clear thank you! Keep posting~these tutorials are the best I've seen!
Im starting a really big cosplay projects, and this video saved my entire plan. i had a lot of issues with strapping the pieces together. i think your tutorials and pieces you make are incredible.
Omg Joe. You made my life so much easier. I was wondering how the heck to attach and secure the wrist and let bands and poof ur FB blurb appeared. I'm impressed with how clearly you present and how articulate you are. I predict big bucks for you in the future with your talents.
jlkdghslkghlsdk Y U SO NICE?! I'm glad this was helpful for you! I try to be as clear as I can and get to the point so to be as A-to-B as possible. Really I don't even care about the money xD I do this because it's my niche! It's what makes me happy! I just lucked out in the sense that others seem to like it and learn from it as well!
I'm making a costume for Mardi Gras and just starting to work with EVA foam. Thx for the video, super informative! The possibilities are endless with EVA foam and some hot glue!
You're videos are super helpful! I'm just starting to cosplay and most tutorials are for worbla but I cant afford it so your craft foam tips are amazing! Thank you for doing these!
Going to start my lady loki cosplay soon, you are a tremendous amount of help, i need to learn how to make those cuts and scrapes look natural. Keep these videos coming pleeeeease!
Extremely helpful man! Ive always been confused on this topic! By the way, I've noticed in literally all of your videos that you have a fantastic attitude towards your work!:) I like seeing someone who loves to do what they do! I dont know, you just stood out! Keep up the great work!
Thank you so much! :D I can't wait to see what you make! o 3 o That's why I do this y'know. I want to see you guys be able to make what's in your imagination!
Not a problem! :3 Your videos are seriously super helpful, they make me want to make things for characters I'm not even going to cosplay! But as far as I'm concerned you're very helpful with how you describe things so it makes it very easy to follow the steps you used and the rest is up to skill level as far as its actually made per person. But thank you for being so informative! :D
Your tutorials are erasing a lot of the fear and nervousness I had about working with EVA foam for the first time. I can't wait to get started on my project now! I'll be assembling a Starlord helmet and his small trenchcoat armor bits. Any chance you could go over gluing seams, connecting segments, and stuff?
Great information! Keep doing the videos, I'm learning a lot and doing my first arm armor. I would like to see a video more in detail on painting. Specially giving that old rusty metal look you do. Thanks again!
Hey man, I love your videos! I've been making some cosplay recently as a hobby, and I always love finding new tips and tricks! I've only made one cosplay so far (Lord Darius from League of Legends) and now I'm starting to work on my next one, Dragonslayer Braum from League of Legends. Your armour is so amazing. I love all the detail that you're able to put into these amazing cosplays. In all honesty, I think you do great at explaining and giving tips to making cosplay (better than what I've seen on the rest of the internet) I hope this encourages you to make more videos :3 I really love them and they are already helping me out a lot.
Thank you so much, this is really helpful! :D I've started on my first project, where I want to create the Mass Effect N7 armor, and I had absolutely no idea what to do or how but all of your videos have helped SO much. Thanks :>
This is really fricken cool. I havent seen anything like these before and that last one is hella epic! Congrats! I am super excited to start my project now!
first of all, FREAKING AWESOME, second of all, it would be GREAT if you would make a more in-depth vid on the blade /gauntlet/magnet thing, and third of all, FREAKING AWESOME!
Hey there! I'm going over your videos as prep for my own armor adventure and I figured I'd ask, how strong would you say those magnets are? As in, if I tried to clamp something to my leg with only those types of magnets, do you think I could do it without having to put a load of them on? Thank you!
:D I'm going to an anime con next Friday and the arm bracers and minor small amour are the only things I have left and your videos have really helped :3 just got my EVA foam and can't wait to use my new knowledge from your awesome tutorials XD thanks~!
super helpful! my armor kept slipping off my body last comic con year, and I think I'm gonna try that velcro one you talked about this year. I tried using latches and a thin foam that stuck to the Eva foam with some hot glue...but apparantly that failed horribly....:/
Amazeballs.I adore your tutorials, and please from the bottom of my crafty heart, continue to make them. But, for your sake, get some sleep dear. You appear frazzled,
damn, i love how well you explain all this, really cool man, hope youre ready for an interactive subscribber who is currently trying to get motivated and is very creative. you very much help me get there. Thanks again but im not really happy with you not having much vids :( Hope you get to it soon.
This is really helpful, man. I'm building some N7 armor for myself and a pauldron and arm guards for a friend's costume. Can you get around to making a video about strapping for more than just gauntlets? I'm really interested in what you have on pauldron and chest pieces.
Your work is stunning! I can see why you're proud of the arm guard with the knife, it's awesome. I have a wuestion about the knife: is it one piece of foam you carved? Or did you use multiple pieces? I'm making Halo MK VI Mjolnir armor at the moment for a convention (49 days...this project is going to kill me), but want to venture into making weapons as well! Definately suscribed, you're amazing :)
I'm going to start working on a "gender bending" Kitana costume from Mortal Kombat X and all your videos have been very helpful! I'll be able to make all the armor parts of the costume with ease. Thank you so much!
Quick question: You said that you use neodymium magnets to secure your foam. What specific type are you using? I've heard that they're really strong and I'm afraid of them ripping my armor. Does it matter what size or brand you get?
Great vids. Thank you! Since you just hammer out originals, what steps do you take to help size these pieces for different body types etc? Maybe a tutorial for a leg piece or shoulder piece as an example?
Thank you so much man, your channel is awesome! I have a line up made mostly of armour this year and it's mi first time doing proper armour and this is helping me so much!!!! >:DDDD
"Voilà, its freakin' magical" ... haha love it :P By the way, absolutely AWESOME videos - definitely helpful and informative :) quick question; where do you get your EVA foam from? ... I am from Australia and there isn't much choice :\
Cool video man. Im making a war machine foam build suit. Im trying to figure out how to attach the ab/cod pieces of the suit. Im thinking of just doing like a overalls strapping or something. What have you done to attach abs/cod pieces for a full body suit?
How do you handle body armour and things? I'm planning on making a rocket raccoon costume out of a prison jumpsuit costume and gluing foam straight to the fabric. Obviously the jumpsuit has a zip that I guess I could just use and cover the skin gaps with faux fur. Do you have any tips or recommendations at all?
Hey i know these video's are from a while back, but it seems like you talk about a lot more videos than i see uploaded here. Are they located somewhere else? I'm just getting into this now and find your work really awesome.
DemonWeasel1990 awesome work man. your videos have been a great help. I'm having to make some american football shoulder pads for a party costuem (they dont have to look good just have the bulking effect under a shirt!) so think i'll go with EVA.....any tips or shortcuts?
