I'm the Evil Ted who makes props and costumes. I’ve worked on Star Trek Into Darkness, Walking Dead, Fifth Element and Guyver, among lots of others. I've made pretty much everything out of every material, but foam is my favorite.
I'm here to share my skills and shortcuts, and help you learn how to make foam costumes and props, too.

YES! Every day there's an Evil Ted video in my subs is an excellent day. I follow a lot of maker channels and yours is my favorite. Your tutorials are the absolute best, you show so much of the actual process rather than just an overview + voiceover. I learn so much with every video! Regarding your store, for some reason the neck armor pattern and the helmet/elbow/shoulder patterns have buttons underneath them that take you to the checkout page, rather than "add to cart" buttons. I was still able to add the neck pattern via the actual page for it, but it took me a moment to realize that was an option. At first I thought it was because I'd bought it before, since I *have* gotten the helmet/elbow/shoulder patterns, but I have no record of having bought the neck one. Just thought you might want to know so people don't end up confused and can do a quick add from the main store page. :)

If you do the recess cut before you heat shape. You'll find once you start bending it all your recess seams will pop open. Thats why I like to do it after it has been heat shaped.

Cut out the design like @4:50 in the video. push it through, and that will allow it to retain the shape without bulges. I hope that makes sense. x.x'

Do we have to use a brand new blade with the X-acto blade, or could we just sharpen it?
@EvilTedSmith

You can sharpen the big blades, but when doing detail work I like using a new exto blade.

What is the best type of EVA foam to use? Can you use interlocking exercise floor mats?

+Evil Ted Smith thank you so much for replying. I will be starting a cosplay armor in a few weeks to get ready for Comicon next year and it's my first time ever making armor. Loved your videos on the female armor, it was easy to follow and understand how the process worked. I can't wait to make mine.

Hi Ted, I'd like to know the exact name of this material (mat foam) because afaik, there are many types. Is it EVA?
