Yes it is. the problem is, most us are to afraid of losing money when open product or play with the cards. Which sadly creates no community and so on the product would fail over longterm when this behaviour doesn't change.
Lol, EPIC beta opening! Glad to hear Sorcery is in a healthy place. Everyone I know, including myself, who's tried it goes away loving it and wanting to play more of it.
I absolutely loved " we've opened beta on the channel" waiting for alpha box 100! Been watching since around box idk 4 or 5. Been a great 4 month journey!
Reason for the "duller" beta is because the printing company went to a higher resolution print. The beta cards are actually sharper, as in you can see the difference especially under magnifying it, but for whatever reason they lost a little contrast in color. Apparently that's a common trade-off from what I've seen/heard.
I love that there is no case premium. When the collation is too predictable...cases and even boxes start to get mapped. And that always benefits whales and stores against smaller players and enthusiasts. What can I say. I like clumping cause it destroys the possibility of mapping cases. Even if you crack a super box from a case...nobody knows if its a loaded case and the rest of the boxes from that case are also full of chase cards or if they have zero foil uniques.
Buying 3 boxes from different sellers is exactly what I did. Got 2 ok boxes with a core but no unique foils and one box with 4 unique foils including a foil Ruby Core
So, I have opened about 15 boxes of Beta and i have seen no clumping. The boxes seem to be pretty random. It took me 8 boxes just to get a non foil philosophers stone. Then on my 14th box I got a second non foil philosophers stone. Still have not seen any curious and the foils have been pretty random. I think I have only pulled 4 or 5 unique foils out of 15 boxes. I did get a foil mix aqua out of my 5th box. Anyway hope you get some more product in would love to pick up some more boxes.
I honestly feel like the clumping issue just seems apparent because thats the sample size that is making the most posts on social media when most people opening boxes arent making posts in general so it just seems like clumping is an issue. I opened 2 and half cases and had no issues at all, just 2 god boxes then the rest were averaging correctly.
I purchased 1 case, I too did not see clumping. In fact, I almost completed a non foil beta set. I'm missing only 20 cards and believe it or not, Philosophers stone is not one of them.
One of my boxes in beta has some issues with it sadly. Breakdown in packs is supposed to go 3 exceptional cards at the front of the pack, followed by the spot for an elite/unique card, then the remaining 9 cards are a mix of 9 ordinary cards w/ a chance of one of the slots being occupied by a foil treatment of a random rarity or a curio card. The final spot is either an avatar, basic land card or rubble token. My issue with 1 of my boxes was, when opening it up i noticed that at least 1/3 of my packs contained FOUR exceptional cards and NO elite or unique card in them, instead. Basically what had happened was the packs had been misfilled and 4 exceptional cards were making their way into some of the packs tacking the place of the elite/unique spot. Not really pleased by this but see that I have little recourse to do anything about this. Has this been something people in the community have also noticed? I don't see any one talking about it.
I picked up a starter box and 6 boosters from my lgs earlier this week. I haven't touched/seen any alpha cards yet but man these cards are incredible. I've been collecting Magic and Pokemon for over 20 years so this is refreshing, especially with the crap quality of modern magic cards. I'm going to sound like a weirdo but the sorcery cardstock smells so good while modern magic cards smell like petroleum... I don't think I'll buy any boxes, but I do want to pick up the alpha Ian Miller cards soon, love that dude's art.
Sketch curios are pure fire. If I could choose a card to pull in Beta it would be an sketch avatar curio (i like the water sketch as my favorite among the 4 of them). Even above a Beta foil Philo stone.
I opened 5 boxes from my case - 0 unique foils. I thought about selling the 6th box... but decided to open it in the end. Pulled 5 unique foils. Go figure.
Are unique foils so difficult to pull? I only opened one alpha box so far and pulled two unique foils (browse and doomsday prophet) and a foil avatar of water. And I thought this is normal with one to two foil uniques per Box
I opened enough to average 4-5 unique foils per case. Some cases have 8-10 unique foils and some have 0 or 1. Just depends on luck. However, it seems like box prices are eighter too low or singles are too high, because you can close to the ev (box price) just in non-foils.
Might be in the minority here, but I think "clumping" could just be variance. I've opened three boxes. One with zero unique foils, 1 with one unique foil, and one with two unique foils. Also, it's better to have clumping than when boxes are guaranteed to have a certain number of foils of a specific type. That's makes box openings boring because you "hit" your one unique foil for instance, then you know the rest is trash.
I just opened 8 beta boxes last week (3 from one store, 3 from another, and 2 from another) and pulled only 1 unique foil. My friend opened 2 boxes and managed to get 6 unique foils (4 from one box, 2 from the other). It felt kinda bad at first but it is what it is and that’s the randomness of it all. I just love the game so much that I ultimately don’t care.
I don't mind the $140 box price inherently, I feel like I can get a fair entertainment value there. However, $140 a box is now competing with Magic prices and that's not a place your want to be all the time. Erik and friends know exactly what they want to do here and without getting into 'will people play', I just think that any price near $150 when Magic is supposedly on the upswing is gonna be tough. After opening Alpha and having a full master set, I don't think I'll bother opening more Beta than I already have. The jucied boxes are a bummer and the quality blows compared to Alpha, although the foils are still nice. I'm not touching any part of Sorcery purchasing until June/July because the prices are going to go all over the place.

(Speculation says takes 2 Booster boxes make a Real Deck if Starter places Not Available?) “Shuffle & Cut,” had Collector Spend $15K on Sorcery TCG Product? When will be 2024 New Release plus Print More Beta Boxes For new players? (Please Don’t Do Star Wars Destiny???)
ove the game but its not going to last the creators have there heads up there back sides they dident print enough to suplpy the demand and then Rudy from alpha has so much of it and not letting it circulate that no one can get it so there going to kill the freaking game before it has the ability to take off good job you all are going to collapse hard
