@@strengthritual Your reviews are really good. it seems to me that the RP Hypertrophy app might be just the thing going forward. It certainly would remove a lot of the pain of programming myself and filling out spreadsheets and all that.
I appreciate that! I think giving the app a shot for a few months would be worth for anyone interested in hypertrophy training. It’s been great -for me. I’ve got another review on the Boostcamp app coming out, maybe check that out too. Different bells and whistles
Great breakdown of the app. Unlike most reviews I've seen for exercise apps that are little more than sponsored content, you demonstrated how the app actually works and compares with other approaches you've used... which is soooo helpful. Thanks!
Looks interesting, kinda reminds me of a Weider program from about 25ish years ago... Especially with the meso and micro cycles, would be more interesting if the six month and one year membership would allow for building macro cycles, and entering data estimating one rep maxs, based on current workload, as part of onboarding a more experienced lifter.
Definitely agree with the macro cycle building! In my opinion, lots of the RP stuff doesn’t really incorporate 1RM, so that feels on brand. I think they would hit a different demographic if they chose to incorporate, so could def be beneficial
Your review has been a great help. I'm starting without really knowing what my starting numbers are, so no clue what I should RIR. Kinda nervous to pay the price of the app, but it looks perfect for me once I start to figure out what I should be lifting. I think I'll give it a go and just wing it the first week that the hope that the app will guide me to the right numbers overall.
Thank you so much! I think you’ll find that RIR gets easier with more mesocycles under your belt. I’d highly recommend using the app for at least 2-3 mesos, just so you can see what 1-0 RIR really feels like multiple times. I think you’ll be surprised at what you thought would be 10 reps at 0 RIR, could turn into 12-13 reps at 0 RIR. Also, making conservative jumps in weight (2.5-5lbs on compounds) has paid dividends in my training, and I hope it helps you out too. Worst case scenario, you don’t renew your app subscription. Cheers to your future gains -with or without the app!
I would love to know how well the app runs on a phone browser. Have you tested it while not on a home wifi network? Is it responsive enough? Do you feel any input lag when entering data throug h your phone?
It’s worked really well for me. I personally have been grandfathered in to an unlimited data plan, so I tend to utilize it over my WiFi. I have LTE, not 5g, and it works very smoothly. I think part of this is because they keep the visuals clean and to a minimum. That’s my subjective experience, but I’ve had no issues. No lag to note
I don’t know that there is software. I’d go to apps.rpstrength.com to sign in and then you can bookmark/favorite/create a desktop icon for the app. Hope that works for you!
