My 17 yr ol son was cranking this up stairs when I heard it for first time, I’m 60…picked up my guitar and learned it quickly….it’s like it came from the 70s.. love it ! 🇺🇸👊🏼
@@jazzhands2458 Elle king even said herself that she thought Tyler Childers did a great job with this song and she is honored to release it 😭 it’s Tyler’s song
I just wanted you to know that I have come back to this comment and reliked it at least a dozen times at this point brother. Same. I found the OG years ago during an actual heartbreak filled with good memories. This song and especially this cover take me back to those memories and less of the severed ties. Heartache in the best kind of way
I remember all them summers Playing 'til my fingers bled You'd sing the songs and I'd sing with you We'd get drunk and go to bed Looking back at all them memories Lord, I hate to sleep alone But if you ever get the notion That you need me, let me know 'Cause it's just two hours to get there, babe I can make it back about an hour or so Hold you close against my skin I need a little warmth on a night so cold Singing songs you used to sing The one about the lady in the long black veil Should have seen the warnings signs But Lord, I love to hear you wail High and lonesome, hard and strong Even if it was a little out of tune Hotter than socks on a jersey giant Lord, I thought you hung the moon I remember all them winters Drinking Woodford 'til we drowned We'd get wind about a party Bundle up and go to town Never worry 'bout the police Never worried much at all I miss those nights of reckless glory I'd come back if you just called 'Cause it's just two hours to get there, babe I can make it back about an hour or so Hold you close against my skin I need a little warmth on a night so cold Singing songs you used to sing The one about the lady in the long black veil Should have seen the warnings signs But Lord, I love to hear you wail High and lonesome, hard and strong Even if it was a little out of tune Hotter than socks on a jersey giant Lord, I thought you hung the moon I left town when we were over 'Cause it didn't feel the same Every backroad had a memory And every memory held your name 'Cause it's just two hours to get there, babe I can make it back about an hour or so Hold you close against my skin I need a little warmth on a night so cold Singing songs you used to sing The one about the lady in the long black veil Should have seen the warnings signs But Lord, I love to hear you wail High and lonesome, hard and strong Even if it was a little out of tune Hotter than socks on a jersey giant Lord, I thought you hung the moon
Perfection. I have never heard these two and I am a Die Hard Tyler Childers fan...but the two of you gave this song EXACTLY what she needs and I love it. Tyler'd be proud
If i was dude in the video I'd slap a ring on her finger! What a doll and her mandolin was brilliant. Knowing when to be silent some of the best notes. Not takeaway anything from you Evan your voice is phenomenal and when you sing you make it seem so effortless you two should cUt a whole album! Id d first in line.
@@xsupreme0937 Tyler never released it, there's some raw version of it. Seems like he gave away the song and let people cover it but yes Tyler wrote it. So is it really a cover?
I'm a huge fan of Tyler Childer. I know he wrote this song and "gave" this song to Elle King. I'm also a HUGE Elle King fan. But wow. What these two have done to this song.... It's Amazing!!! Love it!!! I'm a fan. Thank you, Evan Honer and Julia DiGrazia!!!!!
The fact that this is now by far your most popular song on Spotify, yet it being a cover, shows a lot of people have wanted on there for some time. Hopefully it leads some people to listen to some of your own music as well.
I've been listening to you for quite a while, I think I maybe saw you on TikTok first, a couple years ago, when/before you released How Could I Ever. It's amazing to see how popular some of your music has become

I've been coming back to this for months. It can't be possible to fall in love through a music video, but when Julia's harmonies kick in my heart gets flattened. Amazing work, you two!
Saw you guys play in Orlando last night. Great show. Evan, you are a powerhouse of a performer. Julia, you are an incredibly talented musician and have such a positive vibe. I am looking forward to seeing what you do next.
Cause it's just two hours to get there, babe. I can make it back about an hour or so! Singing the songs you used to sing, the one about the lady in the long, black veil! High and lonesomе, hard and strong, even if it was a little out of tune! Beautiful.
Truly a great job covering this Childers tune. Y’all are both very talented singers and musicians, guitar and mandolin flowed so seamlessly. Thanks for sharing, I really enjoyed it
I saw some IG reel with the original, but evasive, Tyler childer’s recording of Jersey Giant….and I kept looking around for the song and couldn’t. And then Evan releases this, which is exactly what I was looking for. So grateful, love this song.
I have listened to this 50 times in the last week and am working on it on guitar. SO GOOD! I love when a song is better than the original, and this is definitely one of those songs! Great Job!
Oh my gee! I didn't think I could love this song anymore! Evan I'm praying for your success whatever that might be and your peace of mind! I just recently found your music and I'm so excited to explore more from you! Keep fighting the good fight my dude! We're all rooting for you! 💪🏼💜
I cried this morning thinking of the pine barrens and all the love and heartbreak I’ve encountered and just my young kind growing. This song funny enough being named after a chicken species from the New Jersey pine barrens area. So goofy but I needed this version
No offense to Tyler, but this is the absolute best version of this song. Individually, the voices are amazing, but when they harmonize.... its smooooooth.❤
Damn I’m late to the party! I LOVE this song!!!! Don’t know how I’m just now hearing it! So good! I thought it was Tyler Childers but couldn’t find it on Spotify with him. Damn, they sound a lot alike
