I think it was a combination of abandonment issues, uncontrolled rage, and a father who meant well but wasn’t present. Also a mother who was emotionally unstable and didn’t care for her son.
I think his dad here blames himself entirely for obvious reasons in such a controversial event that took place. However when his dad mentioned his fantasys that got passed down to him was also his fault. I think hes overracting in terms that we all have dark twisted thoughts and dont act on them. Lionel never did either... but Jeff did.
It's genetic. He inherited his mother mental disorder. Even if he was adopted to a wealthy, stable family he would still be mentally unstable at some point
At least he stepped up and accepted that he's the one responsible for how Jeffrey ended up. Many parents with a serial killer/shooter as a kid, and don't know it until its too late, tend to blame it on the media, video games, the music they listen to, other people, but not themselves.
Bro, it’s not his fault. Jeff made his own decision. I can slightly place some influence on my parents for making me antisocial, but at the end of the day it’s my own fault I’m like this. We ARE influenced by our upbringing, BUT we can’t blame others for our actions either.
@DoIgopyat don’t know if depression is considered a mental illness, but I struggle with it. I’m just saying is that even if you have a mental illness, (part of you is in control of your actions) Dahmer even knew what he did was wrong. Have you even watched his interviews? 🙄
Even if my son whos 3 grew up to do something like this id still love him and be there for him. Even if my son grows into a monster i still would be his father.
@@Ms_Bumblebee. Oh shut up….stop….i didn’t get unconditional love for my three children from any man that might have lived 4 thousand yrs ago…I got it because I have a chemical charged brain capable of emotion …which includes intense love….
Omg this scene reminds me of me and my father, I was imprisoned for 3 years not for murder but only when he saw me behind bars did he realize many things 😢😢😢
Bro I hate the mother, she doesn't even dare to talk to her son or address him, on top of that it is her fault for taking too much medication during pregnancy and see that it does not bring anything good to the fetus
What's tragic to me is that Lionel (The father) clearly had psychopathic tendencies as well but due to certain factors like his upbringing he was able to suppress those dark urges and maintain a sense of normalcy. Jeff could have lived a peaceful life as well but certain factors led to him ultimately embracing those same tendencies and was transformed into a monstrous killer. Jeff even says the desire to kill people was a compulsion he hated but the urge was too overwhelming.
There are probably millions of bad parents out there, not all of their children become serial killers. There is definitely something at the genetic level or very specific environmental circumstance that creates such people.
