What I love about Evanescence is that everything comes straight from Amy's heart and pure, real emotion. Nothing is fake, cheeky love songs like our so high esteemed pop artists. This song is a perfect example; you just hear it in her voice that she means every word. It brings me to tears.

I lost both my parents as a child and ended up in social care. I was never really allowed to grieve. I was just supposed to function. If we showed signs of too much sadness we were medicated. So I tried to be ok on the outside. But I wanted to lie down with my parents sometimes too. I just could never tell anyone.

My sister died a few days ago. She was killed by a reckless driver. Last night I ran to her grave and dug my fingers into the dirt and just laid over her and bawled. I found myself coming back to this song today.

My older sister committed suicide shortly after my mum died of cancer. She was the only one who understood how I feel so to lose her was absolutely devastating. This song puts a lump in my throat. It's beautiful

My big sister passed away 6 months ago at 33 years old...she fought cancer 3 long years all the while my parents and I helplessly saw her suffer until she passed...I miss my only sister and feel lost without her...this song brought me to tears bc I feel so much guilt that she suffered and died and I still live and breathe...I will always have a huge hole in my heart that no one can fill like my sister did!

This makes me think of my mama. She killed herself a month and a half ago. I miss her everyday, and it's painful to not have her with me. I wish I could talk to her and see her just one more time. Love you, Mama.

My Mother passed on on June 18th of 2020 (last year), and i had a whole traumatic experience with funerals. Plus I listened to this song when I was 10 years old. And now, Everytime i see the word "Sis" i replace it with the word, "Mom". I miss her so much.

The song is sad and all but god, the drop at the end slaps so hard.

I love this song...but any time I listen to it I want to cry. Knowing that this song is about Amy Lee's sister who passed away, it hurts me. When I hear this song, it makes me think of my mom. It's hard to let go, it was sudden when I lost her. To console my grief, I find my lost comfort in this song, we all have our stories but we could all relate. :')

Evanescence is one of the greatest bands that anybody can ever come across... Beautiful composition.. very soleful lyrics... always pierces many hearts... The fact that they are a bit underrated saddens me.. Amy Lee is the best

This is such a sad and powerful song. When i first listened to this I started to cry, it's emotional and shows that even those u loved and care for are gone they'll always be with u no matter what in memory, heart and spirit.😭😢🤧

This song and hello make me think a lot about my little sister Maisy who passed away when she was 3 years old and I was only 6 years old. She has been my best friend since the day she was born. I was listening to this while I was sitting in my academic enrichment class and I decided to look up the lyrics and copy them down on a piece of paper and saw the "sis" part so I looked it up and almost cried in class.

I remember my late husband saying when his little brother passed away fighting in Iraq that he hated living without him. Then when he passed away 7 years later his sister my kids aunt was tortured the same way without her brother before she passed. Such a sad song but I can understand the lyrics. I miss my husband so much every day even though it's been 3 years almost since he passed

I listened to this song alot the first years after my brother died. I can really identify with her pain in this song and it helps to hear someone sing the pain when you can't sing yourself.

Maybe it's because we just read it, but this song makes me think of Ophelia from Hamlet, either singing this in her madness to the prince she believes is dead, or having Laertes sing this to her before setting off for his own suicidal revenge. I don't know, but it's really powerful.

I play this song on constant repeat whenever I can because my parents don't allow me to listen to this type of music. This reminds me of my grandmother's passing when I was in 7th grade. Now I'm a junior in high school and her loss still hurts and I'm never allowed to express my feelings so they're all bundled up inside me eating away at the happy girl my grandmother left behind. I felt so alone (and still do) until I found this song. Thank you Amy Lee for helping me express some of what I'm going through even if I still feel alone and left in the dark. RIP Amy's sis and RIP grandma. I'll come for you, soon.

This song is a clear and perfect narration of the various feelings that mourning brings us. She says, "i'm not grieving for you, i'm coming for you". Here in my opinion, it's like the denial and acceptance stage. First she says that she is NOT in grieving, because she was supposed to be going for her, that is... she meant that she too was dying. That he was going to meet his sister and said that where she is, there's room for two. I interpreted everything that way, and I think it's Amy's heaviest, deepest lyrics. Really really sad... but I love the melody.😢💙

How I wish people we love, never die.

People say like "you'll never see them again" but it's not true. I can't believe they would say those stuff. But it's not true. The spirit will move on in the afterlife and they'll wait for their loved ones to join them one day. I lost my both grandfathers almost 1 year ago and I miss them very much. The sad reality is that when a person lost someone who they really love, end up very mentally sick like with depression and some of them don't survive. Others end up surviving and move on, others don't and they can lead with a broken heart syndrome. The pain of losing someone will forever stay part of you forever. It's sad that people kill themselves after they lost someone and have been fighting for a long time to get better but sadly didn't manage... I'm sorry to everyone who lost their loved ones.🙏

If you just casually listen to evanescence it’s still beautiful but when you really listen to their catalog in depth and meditate on the lyrics it is extraordinarily dark and heavy and Amy dares to go to naked depths in her lyrics that so few have the courage to go to which is why I adore her so much she’s unbelievably strong and brave given everything she’s endured

I don't think Evanescence will write such a beautiful, emotional song ever again.

I have found myself constantly listening to this song. My dad just passed and it is deeply appealing to my emotions and constant grieving. I'm about to start my senior year of highschool without him and this is possibly the worst thing I could have ever imagined. It's unreal. this song sums up all the madness going through my mind.

A distant but equally loved friend of mine was killed in a car crash in 2008. I was in 3rd grade. She was in 4th. I remember we all had a gathering in the school garden. It rained that night. I only found this song in 2013. It still brings back memories.

Not about a sister.. but I lost my ESA, and my beautiful cat Biscuit a week ago, and all I've felt is being numb and lost without her. I just want to be with her, I can't imagine living without her any longer. I can't remember a day she wasn't with me. From bottle feeding her to staying by her side when she had kittens, and during her cancer.. to go from her soft paws clinging to me, wiping my tears in her fur and just listening when I needed her. She died in my arms that night.. and I can't forget seeing her trying to hold on for me. When I whispered to her.. letting her know it was okay to go, she finally did. No one else understands what the pain is like, since I lost her life has become a downwards spiral. She truly was my angel. I stare at her urn every day and every night. Wishing it was a dream. I know I'll need a new support animal soon, but I don't feel like I could ever move on, or connect to another like I did her. The day I brought her ashes home all I could do was listen to this song, reflecting my pain. My partner, my family.. no one understands how much this has hurt me. They expect me to move on but I just know I can't. I want to be with her. I wish I was in her urn with her. I wish it was me. After her surgery she was never the same, and I wish I could have done more for her. I feel like it's my fault. I feel like I failed her. I just want the pain to stop, and I want to be with my baby again.

I have listened to all kinds of metal music for over 40years now and I can whole heartedly say that this is without a doubt the darkest song I’ve ever heard. Amy just puts everything she has in this. I’ve only seen them live once and really wanted to hear this song but it wasn’t in the set. Maybe next time.

Actually Amy's sister didn't die from cancer, as we know, she died from an unidentified illness. Either not given to the public from the family or just still unknown. It's really sad :(

It remained me of dog Brittany my Chocolate lab on my picture and she was always there for me. When I was little I always play in the backyard with her a few years later she started getting sick with Kidney failure. We took her to the vet that he or she said she has to move on there's no cure. I cry every night for her cause I miss her so much that she's my favorite dog in the world. And i will never replace her.

I lost my mom this year in February. She died suddenly from a heart attack. I relate so much to this I do hate myself for breathing without her, eating without her, going out without her, watching tv without her and everything that we used to do together. I wish I could follow her to the other side and be with her. I became isolated cause it's hard acting that i'm ok most of the time while I'm so broken and miserable and no one wants to be around a dull, boring person. I never understood why people shy away from emotions like sadness and grief I know it's negative, but not to that extent. But you now what screw me If I'm broken after losing her. I'm worried about her. Is she happy where she is? Is she fine? Was she prepared for that moment? GOd! I hate myself for not being on her side on that very moment.
