I love the song. I should not mention it, but Amy Lee's voice, although pretty and perfectly on tune, is too delicate. She is overwhelmed by her own piano playing, and the band is even more dominating. Whet we need here is a Grace Slick or Patsy Cline to really sing this.
I loved that moment when Amy playing the piano and the crowd just screamed their hearts out loud and she whisphered "wow.." like she still does not realize how great of an artist she is!
Interestingly, when I saw them live a while before this recording was made, she struggled with this song. This setup however really works, and the song is beautifull. Involving the crowd really adds to the song, and it helps her turning it from something difficult into something stunningly beautifull.
I need help in trying to find a video with Amy Lee on David Letterman's Show done many years ago! when he asks her why she's paying the band for 30 secs of kicking in because it's all Her! and she's the boss, I have never seen an Amy Lee & Evanescence in Concert and would love it in Canada, I'm sure! especially Toronto
@@eshasatriawan4742 All prayers from Righteous SOULS aka Born again Christians, have power. Sinners prayers GOD hears not. Unless we REPENT and born again and LIVE HOLY, GOD hears none of our prayers. Prayers have power, but these must come from Changed hearts. Proverbs 15:29 The LORD is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous. Psalms 119:155 “Salvation is far from the wicked: for they seek not thy statutes.” (Many souls(unsaved souls), believe falsely and pray in vain). Mankind is filled with UNSAVED SOULS (WICKED SINNERS). That`s why there`s a calling to REPENTANCE and to BORN AGAIN: Luke 5:32 I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. John 3:7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
I have watched this video so many times. I love when the crowd sings and roars. When she says wow you can just imagine how powerful a moment that is for her. You can feel the magic from here.
my 25 years old daughter Jessica died on october 3rd 2016 in her sleep :( and this was one of her favorite songs, so we played it at her funeral and many of us sang along in tears. thank you Amy Lee for that great song
There are those special vocalists that there will never be another of. They are irreplaceable. Freddie Mercury, Aretha Franklin, Robert Plant, Elvis Presley, Whitney Houston to name some of the very few. I think Amy Lee will be one of those. Her voice is just so stunningly and hauntingly beautiful. It’s iconic and it will go down in history.
The way you described her voice is what I was searching for all this time. It is indeed "Hauntingly beautiful" Nothing else described better than it. 👍
fun fact, this song was written by Ben the original guitarist and her ex - friend, and Amy actually said she hates this song, wasn't one of her favourites.
When you're in the recording studio it's easy to sweeten the mix to make someone sound better than they really are. When you're live there's no safety net. She really is that good.
It's 2024 and this song is now 20 years old and is as amazing as the first day anyone heard it. Amy's voice guarantees one thing, nobody will ever attempt to remake this song. Nobody can match her voice, passion, and inflection 28 million views on this? I think 9 million of those are me
Even thought the fan base for this band is generally considered “emo” or more “girl rock” or whatever bullshit label you want to throw at it, talent is fucking talent. I’m much more of a metal/hard rock/grunge type, but I’ll listen to Amy Lee knock this out of the park any day. Easily amongst the most incomparable and encompassing voices in the rock world.
Dear Evanescence, you have held my hand through all of these years, and made me forever feel lucky that I was born when I was born, and I got to have you in my life. Thank you
I'm 33 and this is the only song that has ever brought me to tears. Not because I hold it to any kind of meaning from the past or anything. But just because it's an absolutely amazing song from an even more amazingly talented Amy. Never has a song of any kind brought me to tears of just pure enjoyment.
This song brings tears to my eyes every single time I listen to it, even all these years later. Amy Lee is THE rock goddess. No one even comes close in comparison. Looks like a Victoria's Secret model. Sings like an angel. God's greatest gift to the world of music.
They weren’t surprised, it’s that they were in appreciation of being there LIVE witnessing, being a part of one of the MOST ICONIC songs of the Rock Era.

That "Wow" is a nice human touch, although a bit surprising since she must have been used to appearing in front of such a large audience by then. A genuine smile though.
one of the past greats once said: "the only thing you owe to your audience is a good performance", and she delivered. acknowledgement by your audience must be one of the greatest feelings in the world, as shown here. amy was both humbled and proud.
Yeah where are the bands???? who ever makes a music video without 200 costume, set and angle changes. It's a blur. "Don't change" INXS Filmed inside a Sydney warehouse raw.
The most powerful and comfortable voice in female singers! Amy I hope there is never an end to hearing you sing, hopefully I can experience live and in person! Beautiful vocalist, and a kind heart. God bless you Amy! Oh, and the band evanescence is good as well lol.
the choke-hold that this band had over the world in the early 2000s was insane. Why was I 12 years old singing the entire Fallen album WITH PASSION word for word?????
The ever humble Amy, seen looking back at her band at around 1.33 on the video can be seen looking back an mouthing “WOW”. Seems she underestimated how much her music and lyrics touch us all.
This type of music needs to come back to today. This music is real music, so beautiful, so touching, so awesome. Amy is beautiful too, she has such a perfect voice. I wish there were more songs like this.
This is probably the best crowd in any concert I know. Knowing all the words to a song is one thing but to be able to show emotions and appreciation is another. True fans for sure
I get it, it's amazing.. Check out System of A Down Assyrian show. They say 10 thousand, nah, it's definitely over a million. In the rain not fazed. The best only show i wish I could have been there.
She's singing out the deep pain in her heart. The best artists release passion creatively like this. In heaven there will be no crying, no pain. I understand what you're saying. We have to be holy so we can make heaven.
Mohammad is right. I lost my dad to suicide when I was just at the ripe age of 11 years old. I’m 19 now. Being older doesn’t make you exclusive to loss and pain.
Back to when life was normal when everything was alright, great memories this song will never ever be forgotten, brings you to your old perfect days... Siiiigggghhhhhh
Amy Lee... wow! Do we have new 'rock-opera style songs' anymore? I don't know about country, I like some 'club/trance' (ex. Laura Aqui - After Dark or any Emma Hewitt), but other than Nightwish, I haven't seen songs like this.
Women talk like this all the time, just not where people can hear them. Do you know how many times my gay boss, and the girls at the restaurant would stand around and giggle about certain guys packages? Don't pretend like they don't.
All we see nowadays are phones! Can't people just enjoy things instead of taking pitcures or videos the whole time? Lol! If you want, take a couple then enjoy the rest of the experience!
I’m seeing Evanescence live for the first time next month and I was big fan when I was in middle school. And I thought I’d never see them live. And this song hits me hard now since I lost my mother 3 years ago.. I’m not only going to cry in sorrow of her during this song live but also in happiness that I’ve got to see them live. I can’t wait..
Everyone has its memories deep inside. Someone is stronger than others in acting like everything it's always ok. But songs like this digs out your soul and reminds you that your human. All and nothing at the same time.
Michael Morabito heh yeah your very right there sir, this is one of the ONLY songs that actually digs so deep inside that it manages to make my eyes watery, and my friend its a rare thing for me to cry 😆
My Mum passed away 3 June 2022, one month ago... I haven't been able to cry until I listened to this... Thank you... I've always loved this song and now it hits home... The lyricists are so gifted, such an eloquent and simple way of putting all those feelings into perspective.
I am so sorry for your loss. I think of my Dad when I hear this song, I lost him 15 March 2010. Some days it feels like a lifetime ago, some feel like it was yesterday. 💔❤️🩹🙏
I've had the privilege of seeing them perform this song live in New Zealand. It was pitch black except her and the piano, and when the band came in and the stage lit up, you could feel it under your feet and you could feel it in your soul. Gives me goosebumps every time I think about it
cyn salas i feel bad for the people who doesn’t enjoy the moment in real life, It’s like watching ed sheeran singing thinking out loud with your bae wanting to dance besides and u say FUCK UUFFF
@@cynthiasalas9892 hearing and enjoying this live is worth remembering than filming it and watching it over your phone.what do you want to choose your memory or your phone's memory of this live performance.
@@jinkonic9777 for you sweetie, not every person is the same we all different some ppl want to record and some ppl want to see the show there's nothing wrong w neither of both
Back in about 2008, I had the privilege of seeing Finger Eleven and Chevelle open for Evanescence, and it is still my favorite concert. Amy Lee definitely does not lip sync, and her energy on the stage is amazing. Would love to see Amy, Pretty Reckless, and Halestorm, that would be my dream concert. 🥰
Isn't it wonderful seeing people with lighters instead of fucking cellphones in the video? And people who are actually ENJOYING the concert and singing along, as opposed to seeing all the audience recording with their phone camera. Sweet 2004, when life was still normal in so many ways. I am to be a Millennial that was born early enough to have enjoyed the end of the 90's and the beginning of the 2000's in the music industry.
Couldn't agree more - cell phones every where - such a a powerful song and people now would spend so much time trying to record it, they wouldn't get lost in it.................. My .02 cents :)
My Immortal will always be immortal. This amazingly beautiful masterpiece came out this day and month in 2004. It will continue to live in the hearts and minds of music connoisseurs worldwide for the next twenty years and beyond!
That crowd was on point like idk what! That moment when the singer turned towards the camera and was like "wow" said it all. I LOVE THESE ARTIST CROWD CONNECTIONS. Honestly if i was made a record, performed it live and the whole crowd sung it like this, I'd be blown away EVERY-SINGLE-TIME!
