@@esyphillis101 3.33 is the most entertaining and 3.0+1.0 is the most impactful imo. 2.22 felt like an inferior version of the episodes it was adapting, the dummy plug activation in particular was way better in the original series. The ending was cool though, but I'm glad that 3.33 subverted expectations.

A perfect song to play when the movie ends, describes Shinji's perspective perfectly. The world is about to end but fuck it, I saved someone I loved, and the only person left I was close to. Hence "It's only love." So let's just sit back and bathe in the '"beautiful world' around us before it ends.

Marcus Chang too bad it was for nothing. Fuck, I really hope Rei's pulling a Kairi, with her soul becoming intertwined with Shinji's. That would explain how she was able to speak to him at the beginning of 3.0 right after Misato, Ritsuko, and Asuka tell him what he did.

I think the song is about escapism, it gives a "Why do you waste your time with this otaku stuff? Go get a life!" message ("You only think about shonen manga", "it's a beautful world"). Evangelion was supposed to be a criticism towards otaku culture after all.

When you really think about it, the Rebuild movies were only that great for their visuals. Their narratives and underlying thematic subtexts were often (though not always) pretty inane compared to the original series. Rebuild is essentially a dumpster fire lit right next to a fireworks factory: extremely flashy and explosive, but there's a dubious stench to the whole spectacle. Anno by his own admission tried to create a work that could defeat the work of his past self, but he failed utterly. He's a hasbeen whose art used to flow from a powerfully emotional place and now it just doesn't anymore, it flows mostly from the grossly engorged budgets he receives.

Even though I’ve only recently gotten into Eva this song just has that late 2000s early 2010s vibes. It brings me back to a much simpler time when the world wasn’t on fire and and all that mattered was going out and having fun with my buddies.

now that i think about it's kind of hard to tell who's the main character is from that picture. Like it looks like Asuka is since she's the closest to the camera but then mari is at the center. And then the actual main character, Shinji, is all the way in the back taking up the smallest amount of space. And he's not even looking at the camera and has his headphones on.

@@Zzzk155The graphics and animation quality are much better in the reboot, The beginning is the same as the original and the ending is completely turned upside down. Many characters changed for the better (like Shinji and Asuka, who grew a lot more in the films), others for the worse (like Misato, who, because she had a different drama, ended up with different traumas) and others had their function changed (in the case of Rei and Kaworu); part from having new characters, like Mary Illustrious. The main plot is slightly altered, but if you've seen Neon Genesis and The End, you can still understand. (Sorry for the translator. I am Brazilian)

The original series, of course. Neon Genesis Evangelion and after that go for The End of Evangelion. You can watch the remakes after those two.

Centrist 922 there are no remakes, history is cyclical and the Rebirth movies are merely a repeat of original Eva. I'd recommend the movies or the manga as they're more easily available.

I just done watching from episode 1 till 24 and then all the movie which has 5 if not mistaken and HOLY i feel alot of emotion that i cannot explain unless you watcg entire evangelion, it's really slow burn at first until it's hit the diamond angel thing thing ramp up like crazy, definitely one of the best anime of all time and possible to finish in one day of all series and movie . Maybe I'll read manga after this because i just can't get enough of the world especially at the end like damn it's really a beautiful world indeed.
