Hope everyone enjoyed the video! Let me know if this inspired you to check out any of these spin offs, or what your favourite spin offs are? There are some real gems out there.
I suggest you to read Eva: Genocide. I know it's a fan fic but it's the closest thing that we can call NGE season 2. Some (myself included) think that some parts of are even superior to the show and EoE. And imo it's definitely better than the rebuilds. It's quite long so it would last a week or two. The story picks up after NGE ep24 not after EoE tho.
I just recently bought the anima vol 1, and I cannot stop reading it! I think I will love these series… I needed a sequel of the manga (I never read light novel before).
This is only my second light novel, the other one being .hack//AI Buster many years ago. I certainly do want to read more LNs. Hope you continue to enjoy anima! I stiil need to start the second volume.
@@JLSoryu Same here! My first LN series was Spice and Wolf (which I read halfway thru the first “season” then forgot aboutbfor years) and EVA Anima is my second!
@@JLSoryu that’s great! I myself have just started it (I’m on Nisemonogatari Part 1 as of now) and it’s really amazing. Hope you have fun with the series. If you need help with the order just tell me.
I finally decided to try to pick up Shinji Ikari Rising Project. Out of print, the Omnibus doesn't have the complete series (No Volume 6) and Volume 1 is $100 on average. The regular ones are hit and miss and some are going for $75+ for a single volume. I'm guessing I won't be getting these.
That would be ReTake, I can't remember when it was first released but it was done in about 4 parts I believe and centered around Asuka and Shinji. A lot of people love it for its story and see it as a sort of unofficial conclusion to Eva. It comes in two versions, an Adults Only one which has pretty hardcore sexual content and the All Ages version which cuts that stuff out. It's def worth a read, I don't really know where it's hosted nowadays unfortunately, but I imagine it's only a quick search away but it is likely to be on adult sites, so not one for public searching/reading :D
Thank you very much for this! If you had to pick one of the spinoffs (for any reason), which one would you start with? Or recommend to a newcomer, rather.
For a newcomer I'd definitely recommend the manga version of Eva by Sadamato. It's not perfect but it does retell the story of Eva in a very interesting way and he has a unique spin on certain things. If we're going beyond that, then Angelic Days because of the shippy aspects and I've always had a real soft spot for it :)
Retake is a doujin, created by a fangroup so it isn't canon. I would say it is worth reading but the only thing about it is that there is an 'adults only' version which has pretty explicit sexual content and an all ages version which strips that content out and focuses on the story. I'm not as huge on it as others are but if you can seek out the all ages version then it's worth a read :)
Retake is THE one thing that saved me from the nihilistic void I found myself in after watching EoE. I recommend the all-age version. It came after the 18x version and had many bits of the storyline reorganised and enriched to tell a smoother story. By the way this doujin is definitely for LAS (in fact I’d go so far as saying it’s a must read for LAS) and I count myself as a hardcore LAS. If you are LRS or for other CP then Re-take may not be for you.
Thank you so much :) I've had a quick look, for the three in ones it looks like only a couple of them are on Amazon now. I'm not sure if they've gone out of print here in the UK but I'd be surprised if they have done :/ If you're UK based the best thing you could probably do is just check around Amazon, WHSmith, Waterstones, Forbidden Planet or Travelling Man.
