It's a cool idea, but here in Rio de Janeiro this thing would just get on fire

it sounds like those humidifiers that promises a lot but delivers too little (specially in wet seasons)

I can't believe they call this new... this is "Evaporative Cooler"... it is in the market for more then 10 years!!

It's like a mini-swamp cooler. But indoors you are looking for a way to remove humidity. Not create it.

Хочу поделиться опытом использования кондиционера Evapolar. Достоинства: 1. Компактный, легкий и имеет симпатичный дизайн, хорошо вписывается в интерьер дома и офиса. 2. Увлажняет воздух Недостатки: 1. Регулировать температуру воздуха на выходе кондиционера не возможно! Практически всегда температура на выходе ниже температуры на входе на 10 градусов, не больше и не меньше, что обусловлено физическими законами положенными в основу охлаждения испарением воды. Кольцевой регулятор лишь позволяет регулировать скорость потока. Как следствие если в помещении 25 градусов, то поток будет иметь некомфортную температуру в 15 градусов (холодно), если в помещении 30 градусов, на выходе 20 градусов чего явно недостаточно в такую сильную жару. 2. Объем в котором создаются благоприятные условия далеко не соответствует заявленному в рекламе. Более того поток воздуха имеет очень узкую диаграмму направленности. Как ни поставь кондиционер, будь то на расстоянии 50 см от себя, будь то на расстоянии 1,5 метра, поток воздуха попадает в одну часть тела. Например, сначала я поставил кондиционер на расстоянии 1 метра слева от моего рабочего места, и в итоге поток все время бил мне в ухо, что очень неприятно, сквозняк в ухо, так можно и уши застудить. Затем поставил перед собой в 50 см, рядом с монитором, теперь поток идет в грудь. Остался вариант поднять выше чтобы поток бил в лицо. Но это сами понимаете не вариант.... 3. Как следствие узкой направленности потока и малой мощности кондиционера получаем что кондиционер охлаждает лишь малую часть тела. Остальные части тела продолжают париться. В моем случае левое ухо неприятно охлаждалось, а правое оставалось в жаре. 4. Шум вентилятора сильный. Лишь на малых оборотах 10-20% шум от кондиционера становится неслышным на фоне шума компьютеров в офисе, но уже на 50 % оборотов его шум становится больше чем у трех компьютеров. 5. Картридж по всей видимости быстро забьется пылью, которой у нас предостаточно, потеряет свои свойства, и его придется менять быстрее чем я думал. Надеюсь на то что я смогу его отстирать от грязи и запустить снова. 6. Стоимость этой игрушки мощностью 10 Вт сравнима со стоимостью настоящего кондиционера мощностью 2 кВт, который хоть и не увлажняет, и даже сушит воздух, но создает нормальную температуру во всем объеме офиса. Выводы: не стоит легкомысленно относиться к рекламе, чудес не бывает. За эти деньги лучше купить настоящий кондиционер, Красная цена кондиционеру Evapolar - 40 долларов, и по сути лишь в качестве увлажнителя или как замена вентилятора настольного!!!

i read the business insider review. this thing will not replace the traditional A/C and it's not more effective than th every day fan. it makes you feel cool, but not cold. which means, when the temperature is very high,this device might not give you the right amount of cool you're looking for. another downside to it is it cannot blow away annoying insects like mosquitoes which are plaguing people nowadays

many houses in desert environments in southwest u.s.a cool using this evaporative method. its old school tech

It won't b effective at all since we need 24000 btu air cond. 2 reduce heat inside 16sqMeter room

Great idea for areas like Arizona and New Mexico, where they have very dry heat. It would not work for us in Arkansas though with our high humidity levels in the Summer.

pardon me, if its evaporative cooler i.e swamp cooler. it wont cool much in humid areas. i think you must add that somewhere (or perhaps i missed it)

I am excited by your invention of Evapolar. It's portable. I had before a concept in my mind of a very personal air cooler that one can wear in the fold or pocket of a jacket or shirt, so this gadget would be slim and light, like mobile phone. It's ideal when going out. Is there a possibility of inventing such like in the future? Would be great to have this dream gadget for personal comfort :D

Hey, l'm really interested in buying this after watching this video but seeing the water and that there's not really a heat exhaust. Would having this in a room make said room wet or like clammy. Or would it just have dry cool air, Please help

they say this is an air conditioner, but the way they describe it works, is like a evaporative cooler, even the name is EVAPolar. god, thise guys are dumb. they could have just thrown a tiny refillable Freon tank in there and it would actually be a mini air conditioner, but its just a fan that blows water.
