I've had Eve's book a while now, its gorgeous. She captured Marilyn's multi faceted personality: beautiful, quirky, thoughtful, funny, sweet, intelligent, fragile, kind.
Really enjoyed watching this. Thank you. Great upload. Susan Strasberg kept it professional under such scrutiny to satiate peoples eagerness for all of the answers. I liked that she kept trying to detract and to present Marilyn as a human being and professional actress. It makes other subjects seem less important. It's refreshing to see some of Marilyn's friends had a little respect.
Eve Arnold, what a nice and wise lady, she really captured the trueself of MM and understand her hereby I can say that, she liked her without interest. :-)
I think Marilyn Monroe's era was marked by a sense of nihilism and film was seen as an escape. All the talk about Communism, Cold War and H-bombs didn't help the situation much and probably kept a lot of people up at night worrying, including Marilyn. The Beatnik generation understood the illusion of escape, of wearing rose colored glasses, and tried to offer an alternative to relationships of convenience. For someone born during the roaring 20's, being thrown into the Great Depression and coming of age in the aftermath of WWII Marilyn Monroe was the embodiment of this alternative. Marilyn was a true Artist.
Susan was a good freind to Marilyn her father Lee read the eulogy at her funeral& she left her estate to Him. it's nice to hear from folks who actually knew her and are not just speculating😍
Larry King is insufferable. He constantly interrupts & half listens. I love Susan Strasberg. She's so intelligent. & terrific actress. Marilyn's death was an accidental overdose, no question
Rip Eve Arnold 🕊️🕯️ Rip Marilyn Monroe 🕊️🕯️ I understand Eve Arnold when MJ died I couldn't watch the funeral on tv I didn't want to believe he was dead only this year I watched it on line. Rip Michael Jackson 🕊️🕯️
Arthur Miller stayed in his head. The Misfits was such an ugly tale of violence against horses. It was his big "gift" to Marilyn. Yeah, right. Marilyn felt inferior to him intellectually and the opposite was true. The picture Miller had of Marilyn in his office was of the overdone glamour queen, not the real Marilyn.
+Tara Shaw I don't think we should dismiss things we may not understand. If you think about how big this universe is, and how small a part we actually play in it, it would be kind of arrogant to assume that because we can't comprehend it, it must not exist. As Susan quite accurately quoted, "Imagination is more important than knowledge"…The full quote is actually, “Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.”-Albert Einstein.
I love this, what Susan says is very touching and interesting. I think of Marilyn as a loveable comedian and soft gentle person. I so not like Larry king interrupting Susan. Author Miller was not good for Marilyn. Most of her close friend did not like him including Susan, he must have been very insensitive.
"Cynthia, will just love that, Royal Triton." -- Marilyn Monroe I began sleeping in the lower bunk of the three older sisters room. Late Cynthia and I, in a new bedroom arrangement, when our three older sisters began motherhoods. Five 1960s niblings...plus 1970s Leah, Seth, and Miles of N.B.A. Laker basketball coaching, currently.
there are things that happen over the 28 minutes or so of this video that seem to indict that marilyn monroe is still around many years after her passing...................
if larry would have stepped away from his ego then we could have heard Alot more. I never knew susan was into numeril astrology. if larry would have let her expand upon that ... Damn
