The thing about being an industrial character though, is that I actually quite enjoy the process itself, of going out and getting the material I would use in the various stages of T1 and T2 invention/manufacturing. Case and point, right now I'm out in a Lowsec region doing mining, exploration, and PI. I'm not getting everything I need to do T2 manufacturing, but I'm actually knocking quite a large amount off of what I need to buy to produce the things I need. I consider this a very win-win strategy, as I have an incentive to go out and actually undock and play the game I'm paying for, but also I get much larger profit margins when I turn around and sell products.

Thanks. Basically, gave an idea how to make a non-zero isk, if your production lines are idle.

market quickbar... always cycling through mine as i travel... constantly picking up low quantity but great prices... takes a while to build up enough inventory to justify running a gathering-route, but well worth it when it makes sense

if you set up the industry job to simulate the cost you should manufacture all 10 then do the buy cost and divide the amount by 10 instead of doing one at a time, this shows what the actual cost would be not since you are not saving the full amount of materials unless you build the full amount of the bpc if it has any me.

Hey Jeremy, was about to say that it makes no difference but I tested it in game and it does indeed make a difference so thank you for pointing it out I had no idea! Thanks

I’m a little confused from 3:30 to 4:00. It seems like you say, “If I have to buy the items to make something straight off the market then it’s not profitable,” but then say, “I have to buy these items and it’s profitable to do that.” I’m finding that the invention is easy but the industry of a Tech II is almost impossible without buying all sorts of rare items (and lots of them) straight from the market. How am I mishearing you? I’d love to get into invention and manufacturing but the buy prices seem totally unrealistic to the sell portion. Even with high skills in market orders, accounting, retail, etc., the cost/profit ratio seems like such a waste of time. For instance, I have a Heretic BP. The ship is going for around 54 in Amarr while the cost of buying all the supplies is around 50. So we’re talking about a 2-4 (maybe) profit, right?

Hey! One minor remark. So you always say, that if you have to buy something on market to be profitable its not profitable. Its true, its trade income. But you calculate your profit on sell price and you didnt take into consideration that you tie up X amount of money for some days or weeks. If you would just use that money to trade you potentially would make more profit out of it. The second thing is an another collateral damage, but if you dont dump your manufactured good for buy orders (which you shouldnt), then you have to use a trade slot, probably for a long time if it doesnt sell really fast (since you'll get undercut, worst case you even need to change the price). You could make money on that slot while you waiting to sell the manufactured product. That trade slot what you use for sell your product is a trade profit and its not come from manufacturing. Moreover that profit would be made just by buying the product from the market and selling it back. So in my books the item is only profitable if I could buy the required material from sell order, and I could sell the product to a buy order, and I would still make a profit. (And again this doesnt mean you should just dump your product to buy orders)

3:30 (and following) ... I've listened to this a few times, but I still don't understand what you're trying to say with regard to the need of buying or self-producing items. Can you explain this in some other way? I feel dumb for asking though!
@RichardCritten
@RichardCritten 3 года назад
60 mins in 1 hour; 46 mins to run the job; means that you can run (60 / 43 = 1.3 jobs per hour) * (the job profit) = profit per slot per hour

@@RichardCritten I'm actually referring to the need to buy items or self-produce them. Thank you though. I'll edit my original comment for clarity.

its not a stupid question at all. if you do not make profit from production by bying the materials from sell orders, you cannot make production profitable by putting in buy orders yourself. in this case you are making money from trading not from the production part and would be better of to just sell the materials that you purchased directly and make a profit from the margin between buy and sell orders. as for producing/farming items yourself for the uses of further production: a lot of people make the mistake to think that the ore they miner themselves is for free and do not factor it into the production costs. however instead of producing items with it you could simply sell the ore directly. So if you farm the raw materials you need for production yourself, those input materials are not for free. You have to check at which prize you could sell the raw materials and then use this value to check if your production is profitable.

I recommend never drop a bunch of items on the market at one time. If they don't sell quick people will either build or buy from different markets to undercut you flooding the market out on that item. If you have the isk to play with you can force the price down buy them out, then wait a month or 2 collect several items below building cost, for later resale. What I heard from someone sometime ago.
@strange_Net
@strange_Net 3 года назад
Hey Kal, it depends on the market, which way the markets going, amount sold per day ect but all in all good information and for anyone that cant take the stock being tied for you a fortnight then yea splitting the slack down is a good idea.
@KalRandom
@KalRandom 3 года назад
Oh btw, when building T2 don't build something so specialized that the average player T2 can't use it, right now I'm losing isk on a T2 warp bubble, the T1 is selling higher. Research your item, don't just build to show off your strong science skills.
@strange_Net
@strange_Net 3 года назад
Yea thats generally good advise. I wouldn't have built the bubbles as they can only be used in null and most alliances will probably build their own. Hey you live and learn 😃

Why don't you mine the goo your self and make everything instead of buying from Jita Sell orders. This is not how you do T2 production properly. Atleast make buy orders for the materials if you are not actual manufacturer. You are giving bad advice to players starting the manufacturing business. Buying from sell orders is bad.
@strange_Net
@strange_Net 3 года назад
If your able to mine all the material you need for production then for a start you're a miner not a manufacturer. If to make an item profitable you need to buy the mats from buy orders then the item isn't profitable. You're not making ISK from producing you are making the ISK from trading.

@@strange_Net Fuck, evepraisal and sell orders are cancer for industry. I do nothing but T2 production and mining. But if you want to go this way and spread this thing around. I get you. you want to make more profit while the people watching these are left with their items. Good thinking.
@strange_Net
@strange_Net 3 года назад
@@thedangerzone9399 You seem to think I have some underlining motive here which isnt the case. I pretty much always buy from sell orders and pretty much always make a profit. I focus on one area of the build. If I can add value then thats what I do and it results in a profit. If I cant add value then I dont build said item. Its that simple. Yes you can make more profit by using buy orders but thats not manufacturing profit its trading profit.

@@strange_Net Agreed, no point in making an item if it is only profitable if you can make profit getting the materials from buy orders. That being said, if you have the isk to spare (not at the beginning), why not increase your profits with buy orders for items you would make a profit with sell orders as well? :)
