My friend Xho Mishi's Eve PvP stuff, leave a comment there and tell him Resurrected Starships sent you! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ukNXuhKHisA.html
Well, with my gang, we've been trying something different. Instead of dividng a 16 man fleet into functional roles, we divide all functions (tackle, DPS, EWAR, Logi) among 3 or 4 squadrons evenly. Thus the fleet is able to spread out to cover more space. The fleet operates as multiple micro-gangs operating in near proximity. Each squad leader is effectively the FC on that grid. We call this "Squadron as Element" fleet doctrine. Having found an engagement that squadron is identified as "Lead Element" and all other squadrons move to support. Lead Element squad leader will control the fight until the FC is on grid - at which time handover of command occurs. It generally works quite well with experienced pilots, as it is very fluid, maximises player initiative, preserves engagability, and allows for escalation from solo, to micro-gang, to small gang. Essentially, it's a way of hiding strength, combing a wider area, and creating entrapment. It typically presents as being discordant, while being at t he same time highly agile and coordinated.
Dude this actually sounds really wicked. I doubt my newbro team would be able to actually implement that, but that seems very very cool. I like how you point out that it keeps players engaged within their own squads, with initiative and the chance for escalation.
I think you would find it a simulation well suited for your talents. I've used your techniques to analyze alliance logos and names in the game to determine what kind of strategies they are likely to use. :P
i guess about when tech 3 strategic cruisers came out, there just started to be so many different models of combat ships to keep track of. HUD/overview I would have preferred instead of the circle targets, that there were rows of bars (# of bars = your max # of targets) with a enemy ship dps bar (grows to the right) and the left side is a health bar (shaded yellow shield, blue armor, gray structure) in the middle are boxes for ship race, size box (Frig, Dest, Cruiser, BS, etc) distance, etc. you'd have thought thousands of years of UX/UI development they would have a super-efficient display instead of dam windows scattered all over the screen.
I know this is an old vid and I Know EO is an entirely different beast from EE, but in EE I would never dream to solo pvp in a myrm. I can keep frigates off of me, but my best bet is to usually tank while I run away. My solo pvp ships are all frigs or destroyers and I get some good 1v1 and 1v2 kills in. I disagree that solo pvp is honorable though: 90% of the time it comes down to who has the better ship and fit for that one exact particular matchup. Positioning and other tactics only go so far when it's just two dogs in the sky. Small gang pvp is where its really at, as long as you aren't ganking solos.
These are more like tiers of formations or echelons, where you got the individual, the tactical, and the strategic. Sure an Army will use different tactics than a platoon which will also be different in its operations than that of a lone-wolf commando. But they are not exactly different strategies, because an Army will have both the commando and the platoon (along with many others) at their disposal if organized and drilled properly.
I hate that lol I never used alts, we had a guy for scouting ahead and a guy for scouting around. Otherwise you had the security channel, and everybody in the area updated traffic. It left holes for fun people to gank threw, and left a sense of suspense.
Well your last 2 tiers are debatable. Your tier 4 has two different scales: medium gang/fleet, yet range from 13 to 16, same as the microgang. To me from 12 to 30-40 is still a medium fleet. As for the "blob" definition, i think it is actually relative. A solo pilot getting jumped by 5 is getting "blobbed" so is a 12 man fleet ganked by 80 persons.
Beats having all the Carriers and Supers drop on grid, launch, and crashing the node.... which used to be a tactic before TiDi. Becomes a race to see who can get the most folks logged back on fastest.
I have expunged mines from my memory, for good reason :P, also multi MWD + snake set Battleships tootling along at 26km/s! TiDi is a bitch, but its better than the alternative, load screens on jump that take over an hour, node crashing, etc etc.
Hey can you please find the largest sci-fi capital ships suggestion look at all of them including EVE, Gundam, Macross, star wars, Star trek and Warhammer 40K. And put them in a video.
Sorry dont know much about that. I know retro scifi, star trek, star wars, and eve, and a lot about those topics, but thats about it. I can educate myself on the other stuff some day. I know some battletech.
Resurrected Starships well it is easy to find stuff about Macross as the site Macross Mecha manual has all of the mechs and ship specs and many there are people who have made subtitled versions of Macross plus through Delta and you can watch SDF Macross on Hulu.
