The trailer is nice, but boy is it false advertising the whole bounty system xD "With a bounty that high, he HAS to run..." The attackers will get paid around 5-10% of the ship's value if they manage to blow it up, SPLIT among all of them. So, no matter how high the bounty, the payoff remains the same as if the bounty was low (in other words, almost nothing). Almost four years later, and nobody ever used this bounty system seriously. But it could easily be fixed! Doubling or tripling the amount of money gained would still be on the wrong side of "profitable" for the victim to suicide. Then on top of that, double once more the amount rewarded, but have the victim pay the difference from her own wallet. And there you go, a bounty system that's both rewarding and not exploitable. Alternatively, or in parallel, you could introduce PRIVATE bounties, that is, bounties that can only be claimed by a specific group / group of individuals. This way, you are way less likely to see the victim be able to profit from it, since the guy would need to have infiltrated that group beforehand. In that case, PRIVATE bounties could have much much higher rewards because the system couldn't be gamed by the victim anyway. Interesting to note that with Citadel, a new group UI has been designed so that you can put together corporations, alliances, and individuals, to easily manage their access to your citadel structures. Well, guess what, it could be used for the PRIVATE bounties too!

It wasn't the bounty hunters that killed Vic, it was Karma.

I could watch EVE trailers all day long. They are just so well made and I love the graphics. I think they would do an amazing job if they made an eve movie. Base it on the massive ass war that happened a few weeks ago!

The bounty thing is useless in game but gotta admit, this trailer is sexy as hell!!

One day, CCP will find the way to make a bounty hunting system that cannot be exploited or used for griefing but it will not be this day. Or this decade most likely.

I'm reminded of the line from Star Wars A New Hope: "Jabba will put a price on your head so high, every bounty hunter in the galaxy will be looking for you", or the version uttered by Jabba in the remastered edition, "you won't even be able to come near a civilized star system". I think it works here.

The fun comes from the rush you get what you risk. Every time you undock, you are putting yourself out there. And when those risks pay out, the satisfaction is so much higher than simply clearing a dungeon and leveling up

And in reality the Bounty system is borked and useless and no one pays attention to it whatsoever.

LOL is that what CCP thought bounty will do? Then they failed completely and miserably. The truth about bounties: it's useless, because it's related to the value of the ship you kill that the guy with bounty is currently flying. Null sec alliances don't have to deal with bounties, they fight with other alliances' combatants, and those retarded high sec suicide gankers won't be affected by bounties. When they fly nice ship like a Widow (which almost never happens... all they do is suicide in a bunch of Catalyst), they hide behind Concord and their gangs; when they suicide ganking miners or haulers, they get into a 2 mil Destroyer and suicide; you get maybe 400k if you kill one of these guys after they're flagged suspicious.

Things this video makes me want in EVE. Bomb Launchers able to hit single targets accurately, Black ops that can portal without cyno, and this song playing for any fight.

The bounty on Vic Lacuna's head was over $1,300.00 USD in real money. That's pretty nuts.

Retribution is simply brilliant. I have not had this much fun playing Eve in a while. Its almost a whole new game with the new Crimewatch and Bounty systems, transferable kill rights, and all the frigates and cruisers now hit like Thor's Hammer! I am SO glad I kept my account active! I now have 130 million SP and I can fly any sub-capital in the game! Time to come back, if you have an established character. New players have a lot easier time learning the basics with the enhanced tutorial

This was the trailer, that got me started on eve

It's incredibly fun and I recommend it to anyone who has about an hour or two a day to spend on a game. Takes a while to get into, but once you're in....oh my god the rush.

Perfect example was the "I was there" Trailor for EVE. It's cool because they used a live actor and personnel on comms before digitizing him at the end. They could also do something similar to the "Clear Skies" movie series. Either way would be awesome!!!

The main thing that caught my eye was the use of corp logos on ships, something that I know many players are looking forward to a lot.

Dude, if you play eve, you need to accept the fact that it is literaly the only game where nowhere is safe (unless you dock up). That is what makes it fun, plus I don't see people complaining about real life much, e.g. big cities have cameras and police everywhere but that does not stop crime. Same in eve, there's CONCORD in high sec but that dosen't stop suicide gankers, dosen't stop can flippers etc. That is what makes eve unique.

I began playing EVE in 2003. The tears have been flowing ever since. Keep crying people your tears are delicious.

Dang, I can only give you one thumbs up. Retribution is awesome. For a company known for good updates, they hit a Grand Slam-Touchdown-3pointer shot.

I love how EVE makes you capable of doing literally whatever you want. whether a lone wolf trying to rack in the cash, or being a part of an alliance corporation and actually being assigned missions by someone in the higher ranks, it's really a worth while game. mixing ship commanding with having a life in game was the greatest idea ever!

Its pretty awesome now. With this expansion they retooled 40 of the ships from Frigate up to Cruiser, and they're redoing Battlecruisers and Battleships in the next one. We even have T1 Logistics frigates now, and 4 new destroyers.

The reason for vague answers is because people are making their own fun, and the means by which they do it varies from person to person. Some people love the PvP, other people love the PvE, some people just love mining and economics. Bottom line is that this game is fun because you can do so many different things, but you have to decide what you do all on your own.

Launchers finally have models now. And the missiles do come out of those. You can see elaborate contrails.

That's why I love it. It allows you to build strategies and methodical plans. The new generation of FPS console players hate it because they are used to "spray and pray" gameplay.

I should say that I love EVE online, more people should play it. Just know that getting a ship blown up isn't a big deal and is vital to the game. Getting blown up is good.

Because this trailer was made when the venture was still in the game design stage. The the time it had 4 lasers. Now it has 2 with a 100% bonus. And if you see the Coraxes with 8 launchers it's for the same reason.

Eve is and always will be a game about spaceships. Walking in stations has been put on hold, since the brutal manacle incident. I think what they should do is if a pilot has a huge bounty, for certain stations to start denying them docking access. The lore could be they don't want to be involved if someone comes to assassinate them.

the thing with high sec is that it simmulates a rl standoff, the cops are there trying to talk you down an you have a gun pointed at the guy next to u's head, if you pull the trigger the cops will shoot you because your too much of a loose cannon to be talked down and they want to stay safe to protect others, ingame you shoot them in highsec knowing the risks just like that crazy guy and you get blown up. the sytem allways works because your immortal and can deal with the losses later.

Oh damn, I might have to start playing again, when I started I wanted to be a bounty hunter but due to the flawed system couldn't. Sounds like its going to be pretty solid now.

The captains quarters isn't 'worthless' it's just another element in the space immersion element of Eve.

It's how the game is designed. Your ship always have twice the amount of launchers and turrets that you fit, since they always come in pairs. You only ever use half of them.

The devs are developing THEIR game, how THEY want to see it evolving.

They warned you many times about the steep learning curve, and lack of knowledge to play it equals to the amount of fun you can have. Try joining corporations and take part in battles and missions together. Even some Alliance vs Alliance battles have 100+ ships in one system at once. Its truly a unique game. Just need to read A lot!

Actually, the ship he was shooting at is the new ORE mining frigate, which is specifically for ninja mining in low-sec space (which we're assuming because the players flying them are in a large, well-known industrial alliance and not just a bunch of noobs who can only fly frigates).

I challenge your statement. Hunting or being hunted, with only one party having weapons, could still be an interesting endeavor for both parties, and is certainly made more interesting with actual thinking players involved rather than bots. When I started Eve last time, I wanted to do that. Specialize in flying a transport ship and run past blockades. Didn't turn out that way though, not enough profit in moving things from what I could tell.

Agreed, most people wouldn't and yes, she runs in high sec space mostly and her question was why she couldn't build the salvage drones in her POS, i think those concerns overshadow the statements I've seen several people make regarding what the actual idea and intent of a bounty is to begin with... idk though it may be that her and other players like her won't be affected at all by the changes, but it may also end up drawing un-needed attention toward them as well, i guess we'll see. thx o/

My first spreadsheet for EVE was to compare wormhole gas harvesting, which was the most profitable, how long it would take to complete. The formulas were all super good, i could input how many people are with me, cargo hold size, everything.

Also, I forgot to mention. It's one thing to double click a part of empty space when you are in very little danger of being alphaed to death (i.e. PVE), it's another when you are being shot at by a Tornado piloted by a competent capsuleer. That 'thrill' is what separates the boring data checking from the thrilling data checking while being at a rather high risk of being one-shot. If you go around saying 'if not for the thrill, it would be boring', you are really missing the point of PVP.

Alright! A means to outsource vengeance from profit losses and focus more on business and profit gains. I just might resub just for this.

Lets not forget watching for enemy drones that you may need to take out, knowing if you should be keeping your transversal up or theirs down depending on the ship, paying attention to your cap and boosters, watching your allies tank if you logi or spider tanking, making sure your focusing the proper target, keeping your eye on local and your scanner to know when to get out of dodge when his/her backup arrives, judging whether you should even engage a certain target. Not alot to worry about nope.
