Eve Online - Solo Orca - High Sec Drone Ice Mining 

I’ve always found the ice drone for orca kinda strange being you can only use one.

I count solo as just myself so yeah

It’s always a risk in eve.

It will always be a risk. A common ganking ship is the catalyst which fitted might only cause a ganker around 4 mill a pop. If these are used, you can always be profitability ganked iif you carry the industrial core, although this would require dozens of coordinated players or alts. Sometimes to down bigger ships, gankers use tornados instead, You could try replacing two rigs with the one that boosts hull, replace the EM and one multispec hardener with a shield extender and a thermal hardener, and then downgrade the industrial core to tech 1 (so that it is less valuable). You can still be ganked, but it suddenly becomes a lot less appealing to a standard ganker who decides to fork over the battlecrusier or battleship rather than stick to the small catalyst. At this point, someone can make more money AFK orca mining with tech I drones than at the keyboard ganking an orca fit this way. Rememeber most gankers are out for profit.

seems his core consume 320 per 2.5 min, so it took 125 min to burn that 16k. That turns to ~25m - 2.5 cost, minus taxes ... ~11m isk / hour

Because it's an ice harvesting drone which uses 40 Mbit/s as opposed to the Mining drones which use 5 Mbit/s, so you can only use 1 at a time. An ice drone on an orca in high sec will make more ISK than 5 mining drones anyways.

Late answer, but T2 is omega only yes. With that said you can do several activities as alpha, as faction/meta is available to alpha. So if you're curious I'd recommend giving it a go and take a look.
