People were saying the exact same thing when I started. And you know what? Even then beginners could compete. You can PVP effectively even within the first month of playing. I had my first taste of PVP two weeks in; I was hooked. On the flipside, I've been playing for over six years and I don't "dominate the whole game." Very few people get to wield massive power in this game and it has zero to do with how long they've played and everything to do with reputation, leadership and determination.

Do you have any idea how much tracking a vargur has with marauder to a decent level, motion prediction to 5 and tracking enhancers fitted? With a bit of clever manual piloting I was able to kill an NPC dramiel that was orbiting me at 10km. Aside from that Id simply kill you at range before you got that close. When I missioned a lot in my vargur I only used my drones maybe 10% of the time because of this the other 90% I popped on the frigates before they got to me and any cruisers were trackable
I love this video (especially since the song is a remix of X vs Zero decisive battle 2) The missiles effects made we want to try them again. So 6 Tengu t2 heavy assault launchers 768 dps x6= 4608 dps ( in EFT) Vanguard incursion...took me about 40 mins 4x Nightmares (1222+915+936+958) = 4031 took about 20 minutes (using webs and tracking) INSTA POP every ship in 2/3 hits. (+4 tengus as logistic only 3k tank for Nighmares / 5k tank for logistic tengu + vulture on grid)
I have been waiting for missiles to be loved like this since I started playing EvE in 2005. Thank you so much CCP. Now if only I hadn't switched to an Amarr pilot!
And if you intend for this to be some sort of argument for the sake of missiles there's also the fact that no matter at what range missile have the explosion velocity and radius issues. At least a gun boat can fuck up a frigate at range even if we can't track up close. Missile boats on the other hand have the same reduction in damage no matter how far they shoot from so you NEED stuff like TPs and webs.
They are planning too add that later on in Inferno. Winter/Fall probably. When you get shot your shield s appear and deflect the shot. When are is hit you take damage and your ship starts too fall apart. Hull is the same effect I believe but they are going too add this if you watch'd the Fanfest vids. Thumbs up so people can see
so since I run EVE on a 2011 macbook pro (Its graphics card is intel hd 3000), and I get 30 fps with the graphics on high, which is fine for me, but will I get a performance hit and have to turn my graphics down with the new effects and stuff. I heard people saying that they had a massive fps drop when testing in early may. btw this looks awesome and Im so excited
The initial time lag means that you take damage from the enemy sooner and are thus at a disadvantage regarding the first blood. Additionally you can end up wasting a lot of ammo in PVE because of travel time. If you fire a volley of 7 missiles and then fire a second volley before the first hits then you could potentially waste the second volley if the first volley kills the target. It also wastes time that coulda be spent on a new target. The instantaneous feedback makes guns better at range.
Yup this is why that although a Golem can put out an epic amount of DPS with torps ships like the Vargur and Machariel are better suited to speed running missions. That and explosion velocity means that you can't kill a MWDing frigate as easily as 800s might do when the target is 50km off.
All missiles track, the difference is the unguided missiles (rockets, heavy assaults, torpedoes) do more damage, have less range, are less precise and don't have FOF variants.
Alittle weird seeing a smoke trails that flashy in space since theres no air in space, surprised they didnt go with the blue ignition trail that comes out of your ships afterburner like in starwars missiles.

Projectiles don't really have that problem either. We using nothing but EMP/PP/Fusion (EM/Therm/Exp) which all have the same amount of damage and range penalty. But when using artillery or autos this isn't a problem as with a good falloff bonus autos with EMP can reach to over 50km and still do damn good DPS. And arty are just naturally long ranged. I think with my preferred vargur fit you could potentially get a falloff of 70km.
YES SIR that is the lesson I learn when I tried to solo Angels Extravaganza bonus room. It took too long to hit one target. Then I tried it with a Nightmare. 3 towers intapopped in the same time it would have taken me to kill one with missiles.

You are correct. As I was doing it wrong. I sat in one place and shot down targets (attempted too). Just saw on youtube a solo navy raven AE bonus room. The difference was the guy moved around to close the range between him and his targets. Quick fix, I just use guns now and a Nightmare(s). Takes me about 5min. with 3.
AAARGGHHH! i've been trying to reinstall the sisi client for days now, since the last patch i couldnt just enter, every time i start the launcher it starts downloading a patch but fails at 70% of the applying phase, i've tried the repair tool, uninstalling it entirely and trying again, it keeps happening the same. Anyone has a link to download the entire sisi client anew or any suggestion?
I can't wait to fire a cruise missile barrage at 200+km with my raven, once I reactivate my account tonight!:D It's been two years since I played Eve...This expansion is going to make me come back!:D
What makes you say that? Missiles in space can't have a vapor trail from their engines? On the other hand the devs fully admitted to putting fins on the missiles themselves purely because it looks cool xD
If you have a dual core and 2Gig Ram (10 year old pc) it runs smoothley. For your "notebook version" you can tune the grafics down. And dont forget, that they have a mighty server array, which can compete with those highend ones in science. I see no problem, except the console-market taking over the gaming scene. pc games are getting more and more simple, as the masses like primal gaming more "dont think - just click&react". Eve -even if still complex- also drifts slowley to this marriage.
True that right there! it is just a game and too many "over-Serious" people are trying to make it to be some serious endevor. Just because someone has -10.0 sec status doesnt mean they are a hard core badass pvper. for all we care you could have just fail suicided people enough to get that sec hit. it is just a game and anyone can rise up to be a boss no matter what their age in the game. EVE IS REAL :D
Yeah, the Tranquility Cluster is the most powerful supercomputer in the gaming industry, last time I checked. It's ridiculously powerful, then again, what do you expect when it can handle 60 thousand simultaneous players :D
I heard you like missiles, so i put missile launchers on your missile launchers, so you can launch while you launch........ refering to the drake that has seemingly had its missile doubled by placing missile slots on top of the models initial launcher ports
They shouldn't. Not just because of cost or skillpoints or fittings, but because they genuinely have no clue what they're doing. Everyone should leave the pimp ships alone until they have the SP to fit them properly and, much more importantly, the player experience to fly them properly. I've helped remove nubbins from their pimpmobiles because they lacked that last part. It's crucial.
actually improved graphics doesnt necessarily mean better pcs are needed. newer game engines improve graphics a lot while taking virtually no hardware upgrades. my buddy was playing with me about a month ago and his pc was terrible, but could play it fine
wish people would stop saying EVE is to hard, its not. The only way might seem difficult to most people cause every one dedicates to much time and effort trying to get the strongest ship in the game when all EVE vets know dont get something that you cant easily replace
Being a proud caldari carebear i love these new missiles, but its strange that the arguably best graphics of all the current mmos are found in a game which is played mainly from an excel-like overview xD
You've got to keep in mind that people DO need to upgrade their computers. Not upgrading EVE with the times would do far more damage than leaving it as is for those who cant/wont upgrade (sorry, but in this modern day world, its true).
so i take it you haven't actually paid any attention to what they have done and just watched the 'in development' video... there has always been the option to declare war on anyone.. UNLESS they are in a nubcorp, which is still how it works... all they have done is make war decs harder to escape from using what can only be described as exploits.
