Evelyn Evelyn are a musical duo formed by Amanda Palmer (of The Dresden Dolls) and Jason Webley. According to the fictional backstory described by Palmer and Webley, the duo consists of conjoined twin sisters Eva and Lyn, Evelyn and Evelyn Neville, who were discovered in 2007 by Palmer and Webley. The twins are actually portrayed by Palmer and Webley, dressed in connected garments. Some disability-rights advocates have questioned whether Evelyn Evelyn plays into stereotypes regarding disability.
Does no one else find it amazing that she is strumming while he is doing the fingering? Maybe it seems easy, but that seems like commitment to the act for me.
It's way easier than it seems, they're relatively simple chords and it's just very bar/timing based, I'd say the hardest part is holding the uke up LMAO (I know it's been 11 years you probably don't exist anymore but oh well)
It's a shame people find this to be "ableist". To me, they show nothing but respect to the character of Evelyn Evelyn. They are simply a set of twins who led a tragic life because of other people's ignorance and cruelty. I would love to hear more of their story in the future.
Stellana I would love a full Evelyn Evelyn musical production. Something with enough budget to tell the whole story they created as it should be, rather than just a few live shows and a short mockumentary.
rainbowdog rush They didnt lie about being conjoined twins they just made a story so if you made a non-fiction book your fake? Ah I see how society works now. 😐
To all of you who are saying that the arm thing is offensive to the real twins, one of the reasons that the twins needed to be played by actors on stage is so that they are able to play the ukelele since the real twins cannot. Also I think it's pretty cool how one does the strumming and one does the fingering! That must be hard...
@@mikaella3516 the Neville twins are fiction they loosely inspired by Daisy and Violet Hilton but Evelyn Evelyn aren't real and it's kinda like the Gorillaz it's a bunch of people who at first you could believe exist but the further you look into it it is obviously fiction
Amanda(Eve):I DON'T SEEING ANYTING. ARE YOU SIS?!! Jason(Lynn):no im not sister *put hand out of the costume and holds the ukelele* Amanda(Eve):Ok let's sing
@@elizadesiree843 Aww, child! Hello small person. You're the same age as my baby sister. That's beautiful. :D I'm glad you're acknowledging older videos and not spending your time watching Ninja lol
I'm late to the party but in my opinion this song is the saddest and in a strange kind of way the most relaxing song of the entire album. I guess that in the story the Evelyn sisters were singing this just before they died after poisonning each other for the love of a man thinking that they would won. In this song they realise they are both diying and they feel ashame/sad/bitter. They realise that love *did* tore them apart in the end and how the fact that they were conjoined twins ruined their lives. It's just my interpretation but I think that this song is how they considere their imminent death as a relief because their life sucked really bad
... 'LOVE IT. 'Love it, love it, LOVE IT! I loved it on the album; I love it even more live! Absolutely lovely. *a decent virtual smooch for the twins, one on each of four cheeks* I'm aware of how creepy that sounds now.
@chloenoire the chords for the way Joy Division plays it are Em D Bm A throughout the entire song... Evelyn Evelyn play it a little differently. It looks like they're playing some sort of C chord in place of the D. Hope that helps! :3
@komoto13 It's certainly theatrical and largely played for comedy. But I think they still do a beautiful job and pay homage to the song. It is not a disservice to it, though I have a hunch that's how you feel.
