In comment replies, I've had a lot of people tell me that they wish HOLLYWOOD SQUARES would be a show again. I always tell them that, during the last HSqs era, the world hadn't gone "full tilt" political yet, and, back then, people could still laugh at themselves, and take a joke.

In '91, when the Gulf War started, I had a colleague who was more worldly than me. He made the comment, "Around the world, when people want to know what's really going on, they turn to the BBC or CNN." That was true at the time. They really were among the most respected conduits of news. It really is sad that the world has lost those purveyors of objective news.

True. I was in the Balkans in the Kosovo War and the local TV station grabbed CNNs signal and broadcast it on our local channel. Which fomented a student riot. It was a powerful source back then. Now it's broadcast at the international Marriot hotel bar while no one notices.

That was like the guy in court for battery on his GF. Who was present and sporting " Irish sunglasses" Judge : "So you're the guy who clearly never laid a finger on his GF?" That's right! For a split second thought the judge was being serious as the public present for the sentencing laughed out loud knowing what, and who he was. And he was about to get what he had coming to him in the max sentence. CNN/ MSNBC have been sentenced to basement ratings without the possibility of improving. I remember being in a debate club in high school 12 years ago. My teacher said CNN was the best way to keep up to date with events without biased. I got the CNN app. Tried reading some articles, but they praised Obama SOO much it was hard to stomach.

Even David Letterman show had flashing "applause" sign during recording. There was also a stage MC who would rehearse with audience before the air to go over when people should applause but also to remind us not hoop and holler. We did it anyway and got chewed out. lol This was in early 80's so things were little more conservative then.
