as it is told that linear + dc will give either upward or downward shift with dc component so as we got x(-t) earlier we just flip it along the x axis an obtained -x(-t) .now we have to calculate x(t)-x(-t) so at x =-2 we have slope =2 for x(t) and -4 for x(-t) so we had to shift the signal to -4 with slope =2 at t=-2 .hope u had understood.

when dc is added to linear signal,how to understand whether there will be upward or downward shift???
@saishanmukkha
@saishanmukkha 6 лет назад
Renu Choubey Arey bhai It is very easy it depend on magnitude of linear signal at particular time If linear signal is positive and dc value is positive then resultant be upward shift If linear signal is negative and dc value is positve then it will shift upward or downward depends on their magnitudes at that instant of time. Similarly remaining

for the above problem at x=-2(x(t)=o, x(-t)=-4)so as for the condition of odd signal x(t)-x(-t),so 0-(-4) then it is equal to+4but you treated as -4 why ???????

dy/dx = λ , but dy=y_last - y_start , same goes for dx = x_last - x_start *(as time progressess) so we went from (start) 0 to (last) 4 in y when x went from (start) -2 to (last) 0. so dy/dx = (4-0)/(0-(-2)) => dy/dx = 4/(0+2) =4/2=2. hope i helped

Guys simply subtract signal x(-t) from x(t) and you will get the odd signal(yet to perform the amplitude scaling i.e. multiply amplitude by 0.5)
