What do you lot reckon? M4 or Golf R? We’re hoping to get the video up on Ricky’s channel this Sunday so look out for that. Give me a follow on insta @calvinscardiary
Calvin's Car Diary brilliant video . Id go for thinner tyres ideally if its a straight . But you get him easy on some bends with low pros . The golf should still beat him . I like ricky but i feel his tune was mainly turbo boost and if im right then once he gets hot the lag will get worse and worse .
true that m4 was quicker than the supra but your not accounting the auto gearbox and the weight differences. the golf definitely gonna loose i think still
@MSi GS70 6QE If you jack up your car,or stick it on q ramp you can isolate one wheel, normally you can hear a bad bearing just spining the wheel..but try and determine where the noise is coming from..im not a mechanic, but heard quite a few bad bearings and bad gearboxes in my day.what car is it?
Calvin, I’d upgrade to a big brake kit ASAP. As well as your rear rotors, they look like they’ve had a tough life. And for peace of mind, get yourself an aftermarket DSG clutch. It will be super strong with zero slip! Don’t be stingy!!
tuning the DSG (which I hope he has done) will max out the dsg to handle 600Nm. If its slipping no matter the engine tune the clutch packs will go. Uprated clutch packs and blue haldex tune and that golf r really will fly
I think you need to do a race in the dry and then in the wet to see the difference. It’s pretty impressive both cars are running the power they are on mainly stock drive trains
Race him at Santa Pod in the wet and you'll have him, come to think of it I would probably have him in my unmodded Golf R. If your doing rolling starts in the dry I think you're going to struggle to keep up.
At 3:30 you're talking utter shite man 😂😂 also more mid range and lower peak figures will actually cause more clutch slip. High torque at low rpm will require more clamping force and friction coefficient than more hp at high rpm
Surely the Golf R gets the nod up to 80/100, M4 will have traction issues - once it hooked up though it should go on for the win at higher speeds. Great race, can't wait
The way i see it going is this..Calv will get the jump,4wd,plus the power to weight ratio..ricky will catch him if he can hold the throttle steady..and more than likely beat him...but we could all be very surprized..that golf is well capable of beating 7 or 750hp..it just depends on that start
Im a golf fan but the way that bimmer goes when hooked up it will beat the golf ur only advantage is to get the right tyres for the right day track tyres will only work if warmed up nick with the GTR got some AR1 tyres
Been watching your videos since about 15k subs, cannot believe you're not up there in the hundreds of thousands. Fantastic videos Calvin. Plus, I think the Golf R could win the race, the 4-wheel drive being the main factor. Ricky's M4 is damn powerful, but as it's just rear wheel he'll have a harder time putting the power down!
Calvin a few hints to add acceleration you may want to try to help the WIN. Remove weight, rear seats spare wheel if you have one on board, run with the minimum amount of petrol in the tank, empty the windscreen washer bottle. If you get any traction problems drop all the tyre pressures by 6 PSI maybe more then heat the tyres up with some hard braking and accelerating before the race, if you still have traction problems fit a set of Toyo R888 or R888R road legal track tyres ( They are superb and will out perform most if not all other road tyres for grip and overall handling !!!!!) Anyone else think of anything else that can be easily done to further reduce the overall weight?? This will also reduce the stress on mechanical components. G O O D L U C K ! :-)
Good vid as always mate! You should team up with Matt at car wow and use the same track they use. Maybe put another car or two into the mix to get a good comparison of the power you and Ricky have. Could get some serious views on a video like that!
I remember the old Naff-Naff jackets back in the day in school..bit b4 your time though young man lol:)..I liked that MK4 4Motion courtesy car..clean as f*ck..used to love them back in the day..especially the rare 3dr in black with the black heated recaros....:)....
Just bought a DSG Golf R & love it. Looking to stage 1 it to try and bump up the power so it competes with my MK1 TT V6 Turbo but unsure where to get the mapping done. Suppose there are a few options and really enjoy these videos - THANKS
571ftlbs of torque... Holy crap! im surprised that the stock DSG can handle that much torque.... at that levels of torque, im not surprised why the clutch was slipping. maybe try and increase the hp at the top end and reduce torque a little bit more to conserve the clutches and the engine components, even though ik the engine is capable because the pistons are forged
Rejoice Rone its the clamping pressure in the box thats the issue, they need adjusting so that more pressure is applied gradually towards the top end, instead of an instant clamp. My mates had the same problem at 500hp 460ft lb. Fantastic engine but they have their limits.
the Beemer will start to pull hard mid to top range, really don't think the golf will have the legs to stay with it...... You'd best hope for a damp/wet day...... Keep her lit
Your visuals are stupidly sick bro like the content of the vlogs. Would love to get to meet u one day for a blast in cars that u get to drive and u seem like a genuine guy. Fare play bro im a supporter anyway u have to give credit to him and the time energy sacrifice and effort required to keep up with what u do respect 👊👍☝
If its damp then the R every time which everyone will know anyway rwd vs haldex. But Rickys M4 doesnt seem to have any lag and I think the R does have a bit of lag. Rolling runs if its dry I think youll be chasing the M4 even if its slightly heavier. Most of it will be down to right foot reaction times..... Are the R brakes still good with nearly double the power though???? They still look stock.
Tbh i think this Golf R might win the race , look at how it accelerates with somuch grip the way Calvin gets pushed back into his seat.. Ricky's M4 isnt like that. I think up to around 70mp/h this R is going to be winning then most likely the M4 will smoke it by fourth gear.
You and Ricky have got me going to VRS next week, all these videos, it was rude not to! Stage 1 and few other bits 😳 Calvin can you send link to the top you’re wearing, that one looks more of a shining finish to the ones I can see on your site?
I don’t get it? 585bhp on pump fuel and that’s you saying more power? 3 weeks ago the car was 600bhp and it was 600bhp when you bought it from Arthur so how come it’s less than 600 now with more power?
TranceJam00 id say tge m4 will make calvins look stock. That's if rick remembers his meth but then calvins prob got that Ribena looking stuff . You know the tesco 99 fuel with the 6 bottle makes in 105 . But the golf being a 4 cylinders single turbo is still fast but the 6 cylinders twin turbo will be to much. I wonder if they notice how weird it feel driving on the outher side of the road.
@@ericishappy1979 I've had my fair share of MK4 Golfs and I've had to do a wheel bearing in almost all of them. All lowered on mid range coilovers, so that was putting more strain on them, such an unbearable sound though!
mate do up the golf r spend some money and watch them views fly i for one would be overwhelmed with excitement to see it! make the plunge like rick man you watch them subscriptions fly up.. just an idea 🙄
