As a former GOPher it's so vital to point out what role the corporate media plays in all this. Not just to refute their b.s. but because the justification for some (for me, at least) of creating a rightwing propaganda machine was that my rightwing family brainwashed me to believe corporate media was liberal propaganda so I accepted rightwing propaganda as a necessary evil.
Just curious; so was any media that was not explicitly created with a right wing agenda (as you may know, Fox News was founded by Republican operatives post-Nixon to prevent Republicans in the future from facing similar comeuppance) considered liberal?
@@summitinspection If you believe everything the government tells you, you're a moron. Much like if you believe everything anything/anyone else tells you, you're a moron. Sincerely, a dem (by technicality, lol).
The demotrash are selling you out to. Every western nation is selling out their country and constituents in lockstep. It's not by cohen-cidence, either.
This makes me think of the lady that confronted Mike Pence for not “sending the votes back” and declaring Trump won in 2020. Why can’t they just stop and think about that concept for just 1 second? They KNOW they don’t think Kamala can just declare her and Biden winners in 2024, so why would they think it’s legal for Pence to do it?!?!

Oligarchy over country. The idea that political parties represent anything in and of themselves is fallacious. They represent the interests of people with power.
This is what happens when you create a real live political Frankenstein monster, he burns down your mad scientist laboratory and tries to eat Mitch McConnell’s head while the Bride of Frankenstein named MTG threatens to drain McCarthy of his life force because she’s also a freakin’ vampire🤔🙄😂jk
Right wing populism is an oxymoron. Populism is "politics that represents the interests and opinions of ordinary people." Right wing means people who want to be king/ruled by kings.
Oligarchs. They literally worship rich people. The worst kind too, the ones born into old money. You notice those types are always the absolute worst type of reactionary. People like Bezos are bad enough, but its always the failchildren who never even produced anything but 100% inherited daddy’s wealth that turn into the most politically active reactionaries. Its almost like they know they did nothing to earn their position, and it makes them the most extreme in terms of doing things to protect their power.
I blame the Republican Party. We handed them two opportunities to stuff all this stuff down and deal with &rump, but they turned down the chance. Twice. Mich McConnell et al brought us here.
Who would had thought that appealing to and scaring the most paranoid and extreme members of our society would had turned into a dangerous, toxic clown show
@@jdingle8885 No the followers of trump that couldn’t deal with their leader’s loss so they stormed the capitol to prevent the rightful winner of the election from becoming president.
I reached 65 last October, one of the EXTREMELY rare times in my life that I totally agreed with Mitch McConnell. He actually said that there were going to be MAJOR problems in the House of Representatives for the next 2 years. It's not because Republicans took it back, it's because of WHO they elected to do it, it's pretty obvious that he was right.
"We didn't lose the election. No, it had to have been stolen from us!! We didn't attack the Capitol. No, we were incited and manipulated into doing it!!" Is this how rationalization works?

fascism is a mass political movement that emphasizes extreme nationalism, militarism, and the supremacy of both the nation and the single, powerful leader over the individual citizen.
@@runnergo1398Republicans say they are anti-government, but Trump and his high-level supporters openly admits to a fascist ambition. So what if he’s not quite a Nazi openly, it tells you something that open Nazis love him. Having ambition to be a Putin or Erdoğan is terrifying enough.
You've got to be careful when you create the Frankenstein monster. Because at any moment, he, being first of all stupid-- which you really liked prospectively, in the beginning-- could turn on you and mess it all up! Because the Frankenstein monster is innately angry-- at anyone and anything! Even you that created him! Oops!
I hold those Republicans that are not speaking up about this entire circus that Donald Duck started, fully responsible for every American citizen. If anything happens to America, this is on them and there will be no forgiveness by those left behind.
The conservative parties' relentless pursuit of corporate interests and disregard for societal well-being is as clear as day. It is evident in their refusal to address the issue of relative poverty, consistently favoring tax cuts for the wealthy while ignoring the struggles faced by the less fortunate. Their callous indifference towards gun shootings is equally appalling, with their staunch defense of gun rights at the expense of innocent lives. Rather than implementing comprehensive gun control measures to prevent mass shootings, they prioritize maintaining an unrestricted access to firearms that facilitate this violence. This blatant prioritization of money and ideology over human lives and social welfare undermines any claim they might have to being advocates for the well-being of society as a whole. It is high time that we address these destructive tendencies and demand more responsible policies from our conservative leaders.
There is another side to this that is more compelling. Like since the dems war on poverty that started over 50 years ago the poverty rate has not changed more than 1% since even after all of the money that has been thrown at it
Early non-Nazi supporters of Hitler, senior members of the political and financial elite and leaders of manufacturing industry in Germany, believed that they could endorse Hitler and they would be unaffected by the populist Hitler's actions. Hitler offered simple solutions which galvanised his supporters who were economically struggling. This was proved to be completely tragically wrong and few of that group lasted long after Hitler got full control. The juggernaut that was released was uncontrollable. The parallels are profoundly disturbing.
Good point however, no one could have predicted what was to come in 1933. Today, everyone seems to think they know what's going happen. Facism is only possible under a one party system. The 2 American tribes aren't going anywhere. Especially in today's information/misinformation age.
@saraleigh5336 Know what? What minority are you referring to? Also, how do you "know"? As a Vietnamese immigrant I've noticed this fatalistic attitude with the right/left wings of the 2 big tribes. I'm fairly certain your country is no where near a totalitarian takeover. Native born Americans don't realize that America is a great place to live. Spend a couple years in my place of birth. Might change your perspective. Have a great weekend!
@@somchai272 ah, you are commenting on the politics of a country with blithe assurance where you do not live. Posture of extreme security understood. Thanks for the clarification.
It speaks volumes about the fascist nature of the Republican party these days that any criticism of the party even by its own representatives has to be anonymous.
There are people that own guns that have excellent safes. They store their guns under lock and key, the clips separate from the ammo and the ammo secure. Some people leave the gun out on the kitchen table loaded with the hammer cocked. The current Republican Party now mostly consists of the latter. Which situation will cause more problems?
Maybe these "smart people who are being brainwashed" were not actually as smart as it seemed. I would argue that they have to be missing some kind of intellignece to fall for that bs
My mother has a degree from penn state university, and is the director of a nursing facility. Growing up i thought she was the smartest person alive. But when Trump came around she got sucked into this fox news/trump alternate universe. (Bizarro world) she truly thinks the Election was stolen, and believes the fox news insanity. The rape conviction gave her pause, but she says shed still vote for trump, because shes "voting for freedom ". If i try to bring up the smartmatic or other lawsuits, she becomes enraged and loses her mind. If i want a relationship with my parent i cant bring up politics. Its beyond frustrating and sad.
I completely understand. Your mother sounds a lot like my aunt. My mother isn't as bad, but she's very close to my aunt and when my aunt went down the qanon Fox rabbit hole, she began pulling my mother with her. It's caused a lot of grief.
I took an Anatomy class last year and my teacher was a surgeon while one of the students was a cop and during the break the teacher loved to talk to the cop about how awesome Dr. Jordan Peterson and Dr. James Lindsay were and all I could do was face palm.
I appreciate how Cenk is laser focused on the progressive economics that is at the heart of what the country wants. What people truly believe when you talk them through what they want for the country and what they want from the government. Also, Cenk is very in tune with the political spirit of populism. Thank you, Cenk, for your commentary and efforts to speak the truth. I hope your efforts are successful in bringing positive, lasting, change to this country. I look forward to reading your book.
Wait so you mean if you lie to people and use language to incite rebellion amongst people, they start to believe the lies and want to rebel??? Who could've possibly seen this coming?
If all parties involved took a long hard look at the actual problems facing ordinary citizens, we'd learn we are actually fighting for the same causes.
So Cenk in this video: Trump says one thing to his base, then does the opposite, what a savvy politician who just gets it... Cenk in other videos: Biden says one thing to his base, then does the opposite, TIME FOR A 10 MINUTE RANT WHERE I SCREAM PROFUSELY 😡😡😡😡😡... I laugh so hard whenever Cenk says TYT is the fairest channel out there, if Trump killed a man in times square and Biden kicked a cat guess what Cenk & Ana would spend 80% of their time talking about for their clips?
Attention republican senate, if you want to be popular with the US Voters, it's time for you to get off your high horse and get busy with policy and stop with the corruption, but if you continue to pleasing your donors then by 2024 you will lose out. 🖕
Yep, people who think they're too smart to be duped are some of the easiest marks. Sure, they won't fall for obvious ones like the "Nigerian" email scams riddled with typos, but many still fall for "investment" scams, MLMs, religious charlatans, etc.
I'm not sure I agree with the hosts on this issue of 'Left-wing populism' - although maybe 'populism' has a different connotation over there. My clear impression is that the US public are nowhere near sufficiently educated about economics or the realities of the dire situation facing us to be ready to contemplate the radical actions essential to ensure the survival of our technological civilisation in the medium term, or the survival of our species in the longer term. People want more 'stuff', they want to be able to consume more, and to have a 'better' standard of living (by which they generally mean more disposable income). They also want to continue living a lifestyle that fritters away finite resources (water, energy, minerals, food, etc.) and wastes vast quantities through selfish and highly inefficient individualism. Your country (like mine) is at a point where we have to make a choice between continuing to operate an economy based on the lunatic, mathematically impossible, and environmentally suicidal, notion of 'never-ending-growth', or the alternative of making the radical but essential shift towards sharing out what resources we do have to ensure that no-one goes without the basic essentials, AND requiring all enterprises (including those overseas who with to sell their goods to us) to factor in the externalities to their accounting and pricing. The choice is long overdue and we have left it so late that it is not certain that we can stop the processes we have sent in train whatever we do, but I suspect that the percentage of people in the USA who understand this grim reality is pretty small (perhaps less than 1%). Of course these essential steps are totally incompatible with so-called 'Free-Market Capitalism' which which is completely committed to the debt system and to measuring economic success by 'growth' and I see no indication that any serious and well-known political figures are even arguing for this, let alone making any headway.
I am independent though to vote in general elections i had to choose one side to be able to vote. I think house and senate memvers who accept corporate donations should wear outfits like the NASCAR racers (at least a shirt) that has a label for every donor (not a regular person) emblazened on the shirts
