Can your dog crack your skull with one kick? I mean.. I'd try to help the donkeys myself, but I can't judge someone else for caring for thier own safety... im sjre they have a family to come home to, and even humans get crazy while giving birth, but all mammals can. I had to block a screaming cat giving birth from biting her kitten as it came out because she was a first time mom and didn't know what was hurting her. Bit the crap out of my hand instead. I knew getting her to eat the placenta would help her calm down and bond with her baby so I shoved that after into in her face till she ate the first one. Then she understood that that was a kitten and she did well thereafter and was a good mom. My point is though, that had a DONKEY bit my hand in that state, my hand would be gone! A kick also could kill and so I wouldn't judge someone keeping themselves safe from the potential harm.

I don't understand why people are so crazy about helping the donkey.. Even if it's domesticated, horses or donkey can give birth alone. Horses are not always helped even in "civilated" area (i mean centre of breeding or stables). Obiouvsly he could help her a little, but it's not an imperative, they can do it by thereself. You know.. even human female can give birth alone without help of an hospital and anesthezia.. You know, give birth take time, it not have to be finished in 1 minute. it's not a problem if it take a little longer. A female human, can give birth and push 30 minutes without problems...And even more for some. So take a breath. Sure she suffer and is exhauster but it's normal, and pull out the baby out of her is really really painful! For a human female, it's HORRIBLY painful, so it have to be more or less the same for a donkey..
Nolwenn LaPomme they can do it themselves but help is good for the baby and the mom, it makes shorter time for everyone. They don’t need to but it is nice to feel like you are helping.

What a fantastic piece of film. I really felt for her, it moved me and the tears came when the baby eventually came. The poor poor mum was just so tired and gave up but the babe was strong. Thankyou for sharing this with us and I hope they are all well. I'd love an update on this family

all you that comented,most of you are stupid,i have witnessed several horse births and also assisted in some of the births.You have to know when to help and when not,it takes experience in animal births. The people with the donkey was keeping a watch and knew best to leave her alone,i am sure if problems appeared they would of tried to help,listen to them,Plus if you do not know how to handle donkeys best to keep your mind to yourself and please watch the nasty language, not necessary to write/speak that way.those men appeared to have it under control,they were giving you the pleasure of seeing the birth of their baby donkey,i enjoyed the video of the birth of the paint foal(horse) and the birth of the donkey.thanks for sharing your special event. Thank you for sharing By not helping the baby like sooo many folks have complained about, the baby is stronger! In the wild, baby foalsneed to struggle at first to build up their stamina and improve their survival chances. People who “help” donkeys and horses give birth are often doing a disservice to the foals.
Finally I can say for once: "someone filming and being aware of the situation, but no help unless it's really necessary, just let nature take it course..." Really well filmed/documented !!

any responsible person who has animals helps the mother in birth. things can go south and your stock needs your help. if a person is required to feed and groom and protect his animals, is it not good also to give assistance at birth? she was imploring you to help her baby to breathe ! look at her in the video! do you see?

Your remark shows that you have not spent time on a farm.. at least not one with humans that had a clue. I come from a long line of farmers that took care of their animals.. so you are the one that shouldn't be speaking here. Texas farmers since before Texas was Texas.
