@@Ashleyswanson45 He had it memorized. He'd done it before. I don't know if you've watched the movie, but it mentions that he passes those tests because his best friend helped him memorize them.
That death stare while blinking over and over. Never noticed it but Ben definitely did it just like Matt. Matt did it in the early Jason Bourne days too. And in Good Will Hunting, they both did it.
@@ninjamaster7724 LOL. Love it when someone adds the voice of real life common sense to the comments. Mind you, Josh Hartnett is definitely worth a swoon-mention here; the other two - nah! never liked that other guy (Ben whatshisname) & always wondered how he got so far.
@@oliviastar3812 thanks, lol. I don't think some people really think about what they say sometimes? Common sense just isn't that common these days, lol. Have a nice day.🇦🇺
@oliviastar3812 Ben Affleck? To me, he's a genuinely good-looking guy. Maybe he's not 10 stars good-looking to you, not like the standards that change over the years, but he's far from ugly. It's completely suggestive, to each of their own. Don't criticize people for their tastes just because you don't personally agree. Everyone is beautiful to someone.
I mean, he’s got a point. Mid dog fight, you can’t really be staring at gauges. You can glance but you’re not going to actually read, you’ll just know based on positions what it reads
@@OctagonalSquarenot just that but most fighter planes of that era only had like RPM engine temp and oil pressure gauges none of which is really important to the pilot doing the flying and shooting. Often times it was a co-pilot checking on those things and navigating and such. Think about it, my dirt bike doesn't have any gauges or anything but I still fly that mother fucker like a fighter plane lol.
Every dolled up, pinup looking girl from the 40s/50s was. People will never understand that Lucille ball and cardi b are considered attractive for 2 completely different reasons. It’s the look AND attitude. Not even on the same level bro.
he was so handsome back then. he looked like a 40s leading man and she was the most beautiful woman i had ever seen. i was really pissed off when she got with harnett just shortly after he was presumed dead.
Spoiler tw because some people are stupid and go to the comments and then blame me: He didn't have bad eyesight. He was dyslexic. The movie is called Pearl Harbour. It's set during WW2 about the attack on the navy and air force bases in Pearl Harbour. The movie is also a beautiful yet sad romance story between the three people in the clip. The guy ends up dating the girl, which is why she passes him. At the time, the pilot wouldn't have been able to get a diagnosis for dyslexia, but it was clear
@Maliceinponderland no, so that happens later on past the movies ending. They do bomb Japan in the movie, but this was a top secret mission in 1942 in response to Japan bombing pearl harbour. The movie (apart from the romance) was a way of honouring US naval and airforce soldiers and nurses who fought and sacrificed their lives during the attacks, but nothing from the Tehran Conference onwards. Hope this helps
@seanguzy9601 false. She passed him because he was also a good pilot, period. Yes, she dated him, and when he was thought to be dead, she dated his friend. But you have to understand she is human. She grieved, she moved on, and he came back. That is not her fault. She isn't selfish. If anything, she's the opposite. She passed him for her country's sake. Without him, hundreds of people in that movie would have died. If you watch it, you'd understand (it's on disney Plus). So stop using a movie about war and sacrifice to hate on women just because you have a childish grudge on them
Well, if you've watched the movie. In this scene, he had already taken a vaccine shot, but he likes her so much that he goes to go see her again while taking someone else medical information & so he got vaccinated again but this time it was by her . A big no, no. As you can see, he fainted as a result of it
@@perfectsniper09 THANK YOU!!!!! I was wondering why he passed out. Like this dude is losing his mind for a second with them words and holding on to something. But yeah, this movie gets WAY TOO MUCH hate. I liked it.
Unfortunately dyslexic is a dis-qualification for pilots and ATC. A friend joined Air Force went through basic training and started ATC school before someone realized. You can really screw something up writing letter and coordinates.
I myself did 2 months of training to work on rail line maintenance and then boom eye exam failure. Can't see well enough with right eye even through I'm wearing glasses. Sorry mate u out. No working in this field. It must be much harder for your friend. Not that I got any idea of it but he must have spent great amount of time and effort into preparing himself.
@@Sekn2ruthAlwysThe movie is Pearl Harbor, Rachel McAdams was not in the movie. That's definitely Kate Beckinsale; but I'll grant you, Rachel is Stunning! ❤
@@-.Steven I stand corrected. Its Kate. Argh 😂 But, Im glad we both agree Rachel is stunning. She has a far better glow about her than Kate. And, im a straight woman.
Lol. He was the heart throb of the 90s You girls missed his glory days. I remember being impressed by his acting in "Blackhawkdown" while my girl at the time was just drooling over young Josh heartnet.
Pearl Harbor is one of those movies that is a must watch. Its very sad more because it is based on an event that actually occurred unfortunately but the love that this movie has throughout is beautiful.I can’t even imagine what it was actually like.I thank everyone that has ever served & I pray for the ones that have lost their lives
I have learned here on YT over the past 3 years that, due to the war, many young couples met, dated for a month, 2 weeks, or a week, decided they were right for each other, got married, survived the war, and stayed together - 70 YEARS OR MORE! I don't know why so many people sweat the f*ckin' details in this movie! Yes, Pearl Harbor was surprise-attacked by the IJN, and yes people fell in love this quickly, and stuck to it. And in the past 6 months, here on YT, I've seen short profiles of American nurses who served in WWII, many of whom were every bit as stoppingly beautiful as Kate Beckinsale, whom I've had a crush on since 1993 - "Much Ado About Nothing."
Dyslexia wasn't really discovered until MUCH later. Even then, it wasn't seen as a legitimate learning disability until the late 90s. People just thought you were dumb. Dealt with it my whole life. I was an adult by the time I was tested for it and diagnosed with it.
Try having Discalculia. People also think you’re stupid when you can’t learn your multiplication tables. I’d never heard of discalculia until I was in my 40s. Then finally I heard of it and knew that was why I was so stupid in math. 😢
As a dyslexic myself it saddens me that this would happen to ppl (and it still happens now with undiagnosed ppl) and I am glad about how much seabed there is nowadays about hear different disorders.
It’s interesting how our interpretations of media can shift over time, especially in light of current events and societal changes. Initially, the flyboy scene might have been humorous, representing youthful ambition and the thrill of flying. However, with today’s understanding of how soldiers and veterans are treated, it’s understandable that, calling that .. a later "hero in the making" could come off as insincere or even mocking. The bravery and sacrifices made by those who fought in World War II-and by soldiers today-deserve genuine recognition and respect. This contrast highlights the complexities of storytelling in war films, where moments of levity can clash with the serious realities of conflict. It’s a reminder that humor can sometimes obscure the deeper truths of the sacrifices made by many, leading to a reflection on how we honor those who serve.
Pearl Harbor. Excellent movie that portrayed one of the most devastating times in US history. I cry each time I watch it. 10/10 will always watch again, would recommend
"you don't fly by gauges" Poor writing on that part, the Battle of Britain was all about IFR flying, knowing your gauges, your speed, heading and altitude and being able to accurately plot a course since the Germans often came in poor weather or nighttime raids
There's been multiple pilots over the years who've had bad eyes but were very good fighter pilots even today. Mover who's now retired was F-16/F-18 fighter pilot who failed his eye exam
@@dallasyap3064 can't recall off top my head now that you ask. I'll have to rewatch that video he put out a while back. I think he got a doctor's note because he couldn't pass the eye exam. Like he had to sign a waiver 🤔 I'll find that video today and reply with the title.
He us kind of right. You do not dogfight with manuals. But you do fly with gauges. Furthermore, if you're I'm dogfight and referring to the basic fighter manoeuvres manual, your goose is cooked.
"i ain't never seen two pretty best friends. Its always one of them gotta be ugly"✋🏻 someone show that guy this clip . All three people here are so gorgeous 😭😭
