After the evening is done, I go on a hunt for a taxi to get home which took a bit more time than expected, but we made it safely!

I'm an American. I travel frequently to the Philippines, and I've had many experiences in the late evening, early morning hours where taxi drivers will reject giving you a ride. You handled that well, I've been with friends and sometimes they would panic. P500 was a bit much to pay for the ride back to your hotel. But I'm guilty of being overcharged and paying similar amounts as well. Your videos are giving me nostalgia. I hope to visit the Philippines again soon! Keep up the great content bro!

-SILOG menu is a combination of 3 things consisting of some kind of meat + Sinangag (fried rice) + itlog (egg) … Tocilog = Tocino (cured sweet meat) + sinangag + itlog ; Tapsilog = Tapa (fried beef jerky) + sinangag + itlog [my fave] ; Hotsilog = hotdog + sinangag + itlog … etc. cheap & fulfilling! Places to visit in the NCR (Manila) are Rizal Park and Fort Santiago. I would also recommend the US cemetery in Taguig CIty where over 20000 US military and several thousand filipino soldiers are buried from WWII. Very beautiful place.

Brother you got scammed you should report that to LTFRB that's the main office of Taxi drivers and other Public transport. Remember Goverment Owns the Public Transports of the Country. You have encountered a lot of Violations Rejecting customers, Over Pricing Commuters. These Taxi drivers are not professional and ripping you off. I suggest you report them to a police station and take their Plate numbers or better show them the video for evidence so they can be punish by law. Every thing you did is also a convenience and you should be compensated by it as well.

@@user_222 I am not saying this because you are a foreigner. I grew up in that district ever sinced I was born. And me and my family before doesnt have a car so usually we used taxi for transporation. Even Before Grab or Uber came. And we as locals experienced a lot of this sinced the early 2000's and they never change but now is modern you can easily report those hungry crocodiles and you will have justice and refund. Most Filipinos knows these tactics from taxi drivers so whenever they asked us so much for payment. we always report them or scared them that we will report them to LTFRB and they will get scared.

I'm a Filipino but I never tested yet chicken intestines ( Isaw ) but I heard it's delicious , when I go home , definitely I will eat that ... The only thing I couldn't handle the Manila life , the way you're doing, unlike before when I was still a student , I can go anywhere .. Try to go in Ugbo,, Tondo. Where you can see a long street of street food. If you go there, try to eat a "Tumbong Soup". Thhe best to go there in the night time

Hello everytime you take a taxi or a grab , you must write down the plate number in case taxi driver ask over price you report to the police.

Also just to add if you have that app then theres no way that the drivers can reject you for a ride, no more bids for the fare. Once they accept your distination then they should take you there. Keep safe and always be aware while enjoying🇵🇭

Regarding taxi's Don't ask how much for a ride to somewhere, rather just hop in. They have to turn the meter on for the equivalent distance and time.

Mac, you're sooo generous! Honestly, I don't trust taxis much in the PH, I prefer using Grab (car) or motorcycle taxis like Angkas & Joyride which is much cheaper. The local "tuktuk" (tricycle) can also be expensive. I love that you're not afraid to try the street food. My favorite street foods are Chicken Intestines, Chicharon Bulaklak (flower cracklings) & Squid Balls. Chicken Gizzards are ok, but it's tough to chew. Have you heard of a Betamax? It's grilled pig's blood cake on a skewer. It's called Betamax cause it "looks like a Betamax" 😁 oh, I also LOVE balut 😋 I take it with salt instead of vinegar. I think vinegar washes away the real taste of balut. Hope you enjoyed your stay in the PH! Be safe, always!

Mac knows that's it is better to ask for meter rate in a taxi but I think he is quite tired of asking the driver for a ride at that hour where taxi drivers are usually picky since there are few rides available at that wee hours in the early morning so he just accepted the rate of the taxi ride eventhough it is higher than usual. He is also being generous because he knows it's hard for the night shift drivers so he usually gives extra tip.

500 pesos is like $10 it's what cabs/uber normally are priced in the US. that's why he doesn't care. but to Filipinos earning in the Philippines, that's a lit. 150-200 would've been ok. but his income and cost of living when applied to the Philippines, di masyado kawalan sa kanya. 200 for the isaw is like $4. so yeah he was being fair when comparing to his usual cost of living
