@@Angeler-br8mt “Sirens” is typically a title given to alluring women, so Beldam would not refer to the trio as such due to her prejudice. It also doesn’t quite fit for Vivian to use the term as “siren” is also reserved for more sinister characters. Vivian clearly would opt for a more cute title.
Fun fact: there are barely any good remixes of the shadow siren's theme, because it's reall hard to mess with without either sounding too close to the original or sounding so different you end up losing the original's "personality," so to speak. This official remix manages to fall in neither category.
Even when they made an official TTYD mashup for the Paper Mario stage in Smash, the song fell flat because none of the themes included were allowed to shine. It just sounded like a mess that left you feeling like the songs never got to the 'good' part.
@@NextEevolutionI don’t think there’s a TTYD mashup for the stage. There’s the Paper Mario Medley which is literally three songs two from Sticker Star and Rogueport from TTYD, but last I checked that’s the only Paper Mario Remix added to Smash. Would be nice if we got one or two of the partners added to Smash and then actual remixes and a stage based on 64, TTYD, or Super, but as of Ultimate, there’s not much love for it.
Beldamposting meme aside, this is probably one of the best battle themes in the game because it manages to be super goofy, super spooky, and super intimidating at the same time.
Why not enjoy Mario villains? We got... Bowser: Steals a princess (and fails) Dimentio: Destroyed the world and makes a new one Beldam: BELDAM SPEECH BUBBLE
@@gimo6881 Wow I found you writing dumb retorts in TWO comment sections! Lucky me! And this time you even managed to misspell a simple word! You seem like such a cool person!
The Shadow Sirens...Beldam and Marilyn are reprehensible characters for the way they treat Vivian, and for orchestrating the entire plot to revive the Shadow Queen...And I love them! They're perfect cartoonish mustache twirling villains you love to hate/hate to love. This music captures all of that, especially when they team up with Doopliss!
Marilyn was never really bad though. In fact one could read that why she goes along with Beldam is to avoid harassment by Beldam. Which is coming in abuse angles. Since she is capable of talking. I would much prefer if the ending were her and Vivian while Beldam goes away.
I feel like Marilyn just doesn't want the target to switch to her. It wouldn't been nice if the epilogue scene implied that she started talking again after Beldam turned a new leaf.
@robdeliaYT when you get JK Rowling down to 15% HP, she reveals that you’ve been gay and in a relationship with voldemort this whole time; inflicting a confused status for 9 turns
@@LordKrhiyosYou thought that's annoying? Have You forgot that attack where she claims House Elves do in fact love being slaves, making her brainwash your partner against You?
Something people don't realize. This theme plays when you *fight* Beldam. It's not a transphobia theme song, it's the song that plays when you fight transphobes. A very crucial difference, as this makes the track much better.
Beldam Speech Bubbles aside, don't forget that this is also a theme for Vivian herself, to the point that her "join the party" character theme uses the motif! In other words, it's not the Transphobia Song, it's the Beat Up Transphobes Song (Even more seriously, the actual text doesn't seem to make Beldam specifically transphobic, just your general-fare abusive elder family member, which just hit harder after Viv realized she was trans. Could have more direct text (or even just heavier subtext) in Japanese though, not sure)
Yes, She is a Girl, nothing more as a female character. But these unnatural insults and its defenders turned her into a Desecrated icon to Praise and justifying their unnatural existence
Yeah, I played the entire game, and I don’t recall Beldam saying anything outright transphobic. (some minor story spoilers ahead) And she even seems to treat Doopliss the same way later on, so to me she just seems like an ordinary bully, nothing more or less.
@@SuspiciousTemmie And as far as I'm aware, the only time Beldam was transphobic is just mentioned by Vivian who stated that she was bullied harder after coming out.
I feel like most of the instruments represent Beldam and Marilynn, while the piano and the instrument following it represents Vivian’s because of they stand out and give a somewhat different feel.
I’m kinda happy they let Beldam be a POS while not letting her have her way. Portraying villains does not mean agreeing with them. Thank you Nintendo of America.
"Three Shadows" is a less memorable name, but one benefit it has is that it works better with the joke of them filling out their roster with Dooplis, so they can stay the "Three" Shadows. It also lets Beldam snub Vivian harder, by having her leave out both familial connection and femininity out of their group name, instead of just the former.
in the chapter where vivian joins the party, mario loses his name and body and vivian is the only one who cares enough to help him while the other party members dont believe mario is himself. Vivian being trans is thematically important to the story.
Currently I am playing through the game for the first time ever, and I finally get why it's such a beloved game; this song has been stuck in my head ever since I first heard it
Man, whoever's on the accordion went hog-wild with this rendition of the Shadow Siren/Three Shadows battle theme! Incidentally, I still think the continued use of "Beldamposting" is funny, even though I find it fascinating that, in the Japanese version of the remake, Beldam's transphobia has actually been downplayed a bit (she no longer explicitly calls Vivian a man for one thing). She's still just as cruel towards Vivian, though.
Because our society are filled with the half that are Teans Ally, Pride Month and will shove if down everyone's throats. The other half are pissy because the localizers in the west took Vivian: who in her original gender was a cross-dressing man, with her English variation, being censored in the west to make her a female. To them changing her into a trans for brownie points and culture-related reasons, to which people are sick and tired of it being forced into everything, even when it makes no logical sense or reason. So with the idiots preaching pointless ally-ship, the other half feeling like another iconic game went Woke, there are very few people who just want to play a video game without the DEI/ Woke Narrative of today's society. The sad thing, this isn't even a Woke Issue since, like I said, Vivian was a cross dresser in the original Japanese version. But people are stubborn and are using it for a political dick measuring contest that holds no real meaning.
@@wolfzend5964Those who defend these unnatural insults make the mistake of justifying and normalizing their existence. That what it allways be, even they corrupt one month of the year
The "turning a transphobe into kindling" theme! Now that I've made the reference: I think this song received the biggest glow-up out of every song coming back from the original. It already sounded good, but now it sounds really cool and goofy at the same time (Did they add an accordion?!), and it's a great vibe! I have trouble keeping from air-drumming along to 0:35. 10 out of 10 for me.
not normally fan of the whole new @ feature, but it's funny when it shows you that people deleted their comments. bro is malding in multiple comments in multiple comment sections and now they're deleting replies too lmao
I don't even get that joke. Is that supposed to be a dig at Transphobia or some Trans powerment stunt? Just let me play my Mario game and listen to some cool music damn it.
@@wolfzend5964Basically, someone in the comment sections is pretty mad about Vivian canonically being trans so the comments retaliated by Beldam Speech Bubbling them to death which in all honesty is pretty amusing to watch. It’s so nice to see them not feed into a waste of time and just making a mockery of whatever rhetoric they wish to spout
Because "Siren" is a class of monster that is female only, and Beldam refuses to call Vivian a female. with the game being closer to the original Japanese script now, she insists on using words like "trio".
I mean, originally she was. Then they censored it in the west to turn her into a female, then they changed it again to double down on the initial concept and turned her into a trans man, or woman, I'm not sure, or care, which way it goes. Point is they doubled down on the initial uncensored version.
@@wolfzend5964 Vivian claimed to be a girl from the very first moment she was introduced in the original script. The _rest_ of the cast didn't acknowledge her as one, but her self-identification has remained entirely consistent.
@@blara2401Yes, She is a Girl, nothing more as a female character. But these unnatural insults and its defenders turned her into a Desecrated icon to Praise and justifying their unnatural existence
Tons of tourists in the comment sections claiming Vivian is trans. While ignoring the fact he’s just a femboy in the original Japanese versions of the game.
I look at the comments and instead of seeing people commenting on the remix, i see a bunch of fools pushing their agenda and insulting those who don't agree. Kinda ironic since the community was about acceptance?
Honestly people who are both for and against trans rights more often than not are just completely in your face, beating you over the head with their takes. I prefer to just not bother with it at all.
The fanbase always must ruin something, like this amazing SHADOW SIRENS theme. Since as someone who supports transgender people: Beldam Speech Bubble is the most unfunny meme ever made, it reminds of Pikmin community jokes and not in a good way I woudn't be suprised if Nintendo decited to add beldam and not vivian in on of the future spin offs just to mess with the fans
Am I the only one who finds it incredibly ironic that the character in question to the controversy is a litteral *Shadow Demon Spawn* and the whole Trans movement has connections to real demons. No seriously, look it up yourselves. Edit: go to a video called Demonic Origins or Adrominy and Transgenderism by Full Sheen Ahead. They can explain it better than I can.
Someone beat me to it, Yes this music perfectly sums up all the craziness on twitter. And and the funny part is, all that cheering of "Vivian is trans! We won!" But in the end the player can have Mario whack her over the head with his hammer like he can do with every NPC and his own partners. So in the end it's the players who won especially those never knew of the issue in the first place.
It's been two decades of people making TTYD remixes and fan art as a tribute. For a while, it seemed like this game was doomed to be forgotten. What a great time for all the people who kept the fandom alive
I enjoy this version a lot! I think it sounds a slight bit like a Russian Tango. I don't really care much for RPGs, but this could make a great chase sequence soundtrack!
I like to think that the main, leading melody and the accordion represents the conniving Beldam, the violin in the back represents the silent Marilyn, and the Piano - otherwise a pretty unfitting instrument - represents Vivian, the out-of-place sister, and later Freak-in-a-sheet, similarly unfitting.
@@modesthelioliskYou mean normal and natural people? Those are nothing more as a Embarrassment to nature, And there's a lot of them a Sea of Venon in X.

I just realized something. Both Vivian and Doopliss were at the front of the lineup while Beldam was at the back. Was she using them both as a meat-shield?
Dataminers just found an unused tattle who for an enemy who uses this theme: It’s Joanne! She’s channeled the power of the Mum’s Net to put everyone in those boxes! Max HP is 50, Attack is 6, Defense is 0. Her posting can cause confusion, and she does it CONSTANTLY. Isn’t there something else you could do with your life? She can also summon Honey Badgers to give her cover, so deal with them before her defense skyrockets. Don’t let up, Mario! This isn’t about protecting women!
