We take a break in our video production to answer concerned questions from concerned customers - what the EVENT can do and how it does it. This is lengthy but very detailed and explains a lot of 'hidden' KETRON EVENT features.
I have used Ketron since it was Solton. I find the sounds much better in Ketron than other keyboards. I think Event even easier to use than earlier models, and I had MANY. Fantastic instrument - just love it:-) I have been playing professional all over the country for more than 40 years. I will never concider other brands than Ketron:-) Kind regards from Leif in Northern Norway.
AJ, I am envious of both your talent, and your ability to teach and knowledge of the Event. Can't wait for my Event, it won't be long. Thanks for these videos.
Big thanks AJ for this most informative video. I have ordered the Event here in Holland and have been awaiting delivery for a while now. I am somewhat disappointed by reports from those who already have replaced their SD9 by the Event, stating that the progress is quite limited, I hope that they have gotten hold of the wrong end of the stick. Though not a professional myself as you know I am well versed in indepth tweaking and programming. As regards future software you and your company may develop I would humbly suggest to create new and alternative NEW SAMPLES that can be loaded into the Event. Also new styles, in particular GENERIC STYLES will be most welcome. High time we shy away from all those songstyles quite popular among many Yamaha players, that leave the musician little space to be creative and truly ARRANGE a song !! Once again thanks and keep up the good work here.
A generic page up and page down physical button might be considered in the future. The wheel does sometimes cause problems as it is very sensitive, sometimes jumping forward or backward more than the user would like.
You can program 2 icons below the screen (or the footpedals) and use as dedicated page up and page down, but you're right. A physical button is better.
@@AjamSonic The answer is correct, but the programmable up and down, forward and reverse options are limited. USER / TAB options are limited. I know it's a long way off, I just wanted to suggest that, for example, there could be an up/down button next to the enter button in the future.
Very well presented video. As you mentioned, we are getting opinions & "reviews" from all sides and so it's important that also eventual shortcomings are addressed (i.e. delay, you were talking about) -it's the only way to destroy the myths and prevent spreading false information. Btw. close to the end of the video (at presenting aftertouch features) I noticed some audio distortions at playing (it was audible few times as a short glitch/interrupt in style). No idea what caused that, but needless to say, that sound quality is quite important in keyboard presentation. Thank you and best wishes.
The distortion came from the heavy sound used in the ZOUK which made the audio clip ... my fault, should have used a LIMITER. By the time the AJAMSONIC package is complete, all balancing would have been taken care of. Next time it will be better ..
Understood. Working on that. If we do a 61 key version, take out the Live Chords and Aux output and a few other features, and bring down the price by about $1,000.00, would that be a good deal? If not, what do you suggest we take out to make it cheaper?
@@AjamSonic i think the price is normal in this category of professional arrangers but as korg and yamaha do it can be a Event in 61 keys without taking out anything and add some new technologies as yamaha a 5000 did recently
I must have missed it ... doing too much (camera, audio, video, playing ...etc). When you want to play and SOUND live, without the hassle of a Live band, the KETRON EVENT AjamSonic Pro package will get you there. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nSiRUEnwd7g.html
Excellent video AJ on an instrument that has phenomenal capabilities. Could you possibly do a video on styles. I’d love to hear all the country styles, intros, variations and fills as this is my main genre of music. Cheers!!
@@AjamSonic yes please AJ. There are no videos, at all, demonstrating the styles in any great detail. I know there is so much more to the Event than just the styles but a ot of people will base their purchase on what the boards styles are straight from the box. God bless you 🙏
Great Video, AJ, always a pleasure to see. I've got a question about the virtual fills / break buttons on screen (which are discussed around 7:00-8:00 in the video). I'm not really "accustomed" to that and concerned whether it will be convenient to trigger these fills from screen. Maybe I'm a bit "old school" here, but having hardware buttons for this type of functionality sounds more appealing to me. On the other hand I realize that since Event has so many style parts to offer its impossible to implement everything as hardware buttons and keep the existing design... So the question is whether its possible to map all these functions to some kind of midi controller (I'm personally waiting for the module version which might have more sense to me) so I thought about plugging a midi keyboard with pad buttons and assigning all fills/breaks stuff to those pads. Thanks
Yes. You can use a Midi controller (that can send out Midi SyExc messages, then using the message for each button, MAP these onto your Midi controller. You are right about the design. I personally (as an Engineer and keyboard player) believe that the TOUCH SCREEN is one of those technologies NOT for arranger keyboards, and Cars!!!! But I may be the minority here. Notice how hard it is now to simply adjust your temperature in your $80,000.00 USD car, where as it was so much easier in your $20,000.00 car. Something is wrong with this analogy :-(
@@AjamSonic Well, I used to play Yamaha s950 (no touch screen) and then upgraded to Genos. The touch screen _can be_ very helpful in many situations, practically everything besides the real-time control. I've heard a lot of users saying that moving to the touch screen is a welcomed feature. I've found it convenient for style creation for example, where I mainly adjust stuff (note editing). Also for navigation and file operations, it can be convenient (but for that the Operating System's UI must natively implement and support these concepts). However for live performances (variations switching, fills, manual bass, etc) buttons, especially if they are big, well-structured, and ideally have led backlights highlighting in the dark, are still way more convenient than virtual buttons on the screen, you can't miss those. IMHO Ketron already has a beautiful sound and a decent set of features, but the UI should be re-worked with the latest UX concepts, well maybe in future products :))) In any case, thanks a lot for your answer, and sincerely wishing success to you guys!
Sadly when you said about midi styles having immediate response and audio styles not - that’s when I thought not for me. I had a SD90 and the lag in audio was what made me send it back. Hope you get the audio styles more responsive to match midi and then I’ll consider again.
There is no lag in Audio with regards to the style performance (EVENT has dual processor to handle that). The lag is when using the START/STOP where immediate response is needed as demonstrated, especially when playing sounds on the right. The technology is where the hick up is (for this purpose only) because of streaming about 5 wave files at once! Now remember that this feature is a must, you can use a Midi style and simply use the MODELING feature and add just Audio Drums to replace the Midi drums ... and get the same results (leave out the LIVE GUITARS and LIVE CHORDS).. at least in the Arranger where you plan to use this feature. Many ways to skin a cat ... :-) But again, unlike the SD90, there is no lag in styles with EVENT.
@@AjamSonic Sorry if I don't understand very well : If I play a real style (real drums, real guitar, real bass), if I turn the K START on, the style will not start immediately when playing the chord ? Will I have a latency ? Thanks
hello. It's always good to see your videos. the ketron event features background noise on the grand piano... Is this noise normal? Another question I would like to ask is if there is the possibility of putting our timbres that we have already modified in a part of the midi style? Would Ketron be able to put an independent equalizer for each midi part of the style? thanks
Yes it is. When sampled/recorded, this was done in a way to capture the entire voice of the piano in that room (which includes the ambient/noise sound).
An alternative to the wheel is USER TAB, User. Where can I find Style up and down, or Voice up and down etc. options? If not, I suppose Free sites are suitable for this (there are plenty of those too). How can I save e.g. Style up and down, or Voice up and down etc. in the Free places? Do these (User Tab) saves persist after turning off?
Press USER TAB. Touch the USER icon on the far bottom right. Touch any of the TO ASSIGN tabs. Now use the wheel to scroll down the list - until you see what you are looking for. Touch it and it will be assigned to that tab. Repeat for all the others.
@@AjamSonic Hello, do I not know in USER TAB/USER Meny to find the function Style Page Down or Up or Voice Page Down or Up? I found Text Page Down and PDF Page Down but I need Style and Voice?
@@AjamSonic Thank you for your reply, but we misunderstood each other. I knew that part. My problem was that the list of options is not complete. However, in the USER / TAB scrollable list there are many FREE named optional options. How and for what can these be programmed, cancelled, modified? Thanks in advance for your answer! Congratulations on the tutorial videos you have made and I look forward with great pleasure and curiosity to the sequel! I hope that you will answer one of the next videos the questions I have sent you by mail or, if time permits, you will send me an answer by email! I am glad that after 30 years of Yamaha and Korg use I found Ketron Event and you! I'm grateful for it, because I get so much pleasure from Ketron and the fruits of your labor, so many lifelike sounds and styles!
Lez me know is possible save record to player2 all action from player 1 mp3 file + singing+playing in keyboard??? Is possible player1 and player 2 work in same time?
My Ketron Event freezes up while using- especially while editing styles. The only option to get out of it is to restart the keyboard. I've installed the OS Upgrade "Event _v110". Still it freezes. Could you please help?
The event seems awesome yet with all the styles there is no mention of reggae, soca afro ? Sd 9 and audia does this event is supposed to be better none of these styles as per mentioned ?
These are all in the AjamSonic package and trust me, they are coming. The problem sometimes is when I get to do these demos, there are many outspoken customers who don't like that 'kind of music', but I am definitely going to be showing off the new Reggae, Soca, Zouk and Afro Pops .. very soon. Those folks will simply have to 'skip' those demos, after all, there is an off switch on most computers these days :-)
AJ.. my brother thank you for your quick response. In the past we spent some quality time on the phone getting in-depth on these instruments, however those of us that are true "PLayers of instruments" and respect this craft will embrace all genres of music, given that the Afro, and Reggae are the original first music that came from jah rastafari. Looking forward to your demo of these I know they will be in-depth and will hit you up on the phone .. bless up brethren reggaeCABIN recording
thanks for your explanations can you tell me if we can sort registration by alpha and not by number (without choose a letter) i want to see all reg and not just a or c or t or j. thanks
Yes. Connect to your computer and go to the REGISTRATION Folder and BANK where your registerations reside. REMOVE all the numbers and to prevent the EVENT from putting any more numbers to any registration you create moving forward, go to MEDIA - DISK EDIT and remove NUMBER ASIGN (Turn off). Now when you display the registrations, they will be alphabetical. Note that when you (as of now) go to MEDIA and look at the folder, they are displayed alphabetically and you can also simply touch them directly from here (as files) and they will load - short cut to avoid all the headache above :-)
Once you select the style you want, touch STYLE EDIT to enter the editor. Here you can do bigger changes like edits ...etc. If however you want to simply do minor changes like change voice, edit volume, reverb ..etc, you can just touch VIEW and do these even as you play. No need to enter the STYLE EDITOR for basic changes.
