Thanks for another entertaining video Kevy. I also have very course whiskers, which is why my DE89 with the feather blade is my daily shaver. Keep up the good work👍
Yeah, those brushes are beautiful! I think I saw something, too, about those Proraso creams but I don't remember where I saw it either. It will be 13 years this years since my Mom died; I know what you mean. I'd love to be sitting on her porch talking and laughing once more. Have a great rest of your week, Kevy.
Hi Kevy- Great shave today; thank you! Very nice shaving brush; I have the cream/butterscotch combination. I hope you are having a great week and all the best!
Great shave, Kevy. What timing you have. I had a mail call today and received two brushes I ordered from Heritage Collection Shaving. I ordered the butterscotch you have there and one in green/cream. They are beautifully done. I'm sure I'll be buying more. I also picked up two C-MON brushes from them. I'm looking forward to when Neil posts the Merit replicas also. You are exactly right, Neil was a pleasure to deal with, great communication. Have a great and safe week.
Heritage have some great colour combination on there site. I have the Proraso Azure Lime in the pouch very good stuff. I remember being taken to Millwall in the 70’s by my Dad. Not the safest place on the terraces for a young lad, I totally understand when you said to relive those precious moments. If only. Lovely classic shave, Kevy.
Great shave kevy ,wow thats a really nice brush ! I particularly like the detailing on the handle .can't go wrong with proraso .great cream . Thanks for sharing .cheers buddy
My very first DE razor, EJ89---a good one to start with. I have the 3ONE6 on its way, and cannot wait get a shave going with it. A very good bargain to order direct from EJ and pay just US $83 for it. 👍
Beautiful brush, Kevy! I just got a Heritage Collection brush with the same knot. Mine's the same model, but black on top red on the bottom with white lettering. I got it to match a vintage Ever-Ready brush that was my father-in-law's. These Heritage Collection brushes are great! The polish on them is outstanding! Good price too. Cheers! -Rob
Hi Kevy, Love the traditional side of shaving and I've toyed with getting an Ever Ready brush, but I'm gradually being swayed by one of these superb replicas. I'd say those are Wolves colours myself being a West Brom fan - so I'll pass on that one. Perhaps the blue and cream for me when they re-stock! 😄💈
I've discovered if someone really wants an original Ever Ready or similar brush....You can find them included with lots of multiple razors(often the cheaper less popular vintage razors !) and usually the whole package is cheaper than buying the brush alone. I also found if you look for sellers who are more into "antiques" and estate sales; these brushes can be found cheaply and occasionally NOS classification. Coincidentally, I was looking for something else and one popped up as I was listening to you speak on the subject. I am debating buying since it's a straight forward sale and not an auction.
The Heritage is a footstep in the past and in the present as well. The swirl texture of the handle looks like warm butterscotch, being churned slowly in a confectioner's pot. It makes me want to bite into that handle and break a tooth. The modern finishing technique is richly glossed. The build quality is first rate, and is capped with a high quality badger knot. If memory serves, Ever-Ready normally boasted boar knots on the majority of their offerings. Proraso's creams are far and above the performance of their soaps. The slickness just isn't there with the tub. This example had emollient rich residual slickness. It should also be noted that post shave feel could have been left without a balm if desired. I still have my trusty DE89 with the 3D laser diamond handle, which I bought after seeing yours. Today's session was indeed a tour de force of a traditional shave. I was very moved by your revelation of the pastimes shared with your dad. I too would give anything to spend a day with my baby brother. I appreciate you sharing such a personal memory. It will make everyone who watches this think of a beloved person they have lost to time and tide. I did not know your father, but I can assure you that he would be proud, and in awe that nearly 8000 people, from all reaches of the globe, tune in to watch his son shave, present products, and inform this genuine community at large. It is quite the feat for one man- yet you do it so easily. Not to mention an actor in a repertoire theatre. It is truly a life well lived. My best to you, mate! My regards to your doting wife, and the precocious Riley.
Lovely brush! I particularly liked the bit about the Adam’s apple. My method is different than yours. I just close my eyes and shave right over it. Sometimes I get away with it sometimes I don’t. I just love the danger! Ha Ha! We all need a bit of excitement now and then. Great video as usual mate. Take care. Mike.
Kevey I'm sure you have mentioned it before but once again for me where would I find the plastic washer that you use on the bottom plate and the proper name would be helpful also. Nice video as always.
Kevy, great review. With the closeness of the shaves you get, with various razors, do you shave every other day or everyday. Also, I have thick, wiry whiskers. Are your whiskers mild, medium or thick like mine? Keep up the great videos.
I saw this brush just the other day in one of the west coast shaving videos. The guy was not using it but it was on the shelf and it drew my attention. I visited their website and you are right, they are affordable and worth it in my opinion. Did you buy the cream and balm from Amazon? Cheers!
Lovely finish to the brush 👍 Like you, I have that razor and as you say, just simple and beautifully finished. The Proraso would be good if if was held in a pump dispenser?
Hello, how are you? I hope everything is fine, one of your best Edwin Jagger is a very good closed comb although I prefer the MÜHLE R89, the brush is good also its performance is better appreciated in creams as we could see, you obtained an excellent lather. PD With all due respect you remind me a lot of my grandfather you look a lot like the physical, I hope not to bother greetings.
Nice brush, went straight to their website, and see what else they have to offer. Cheers! Get in touch with Leaf razor, see if they'll let you show off one of their razors.
Hey Kevy! Those are some of my favorites! Though I my "DE89" is now Razorock's MJ-90A which is a DE-89 Modified somewhat (made of aluminum though) removing all the shortfalls such has blade overhang and easing the exposure by a tiny bit going from slightly positive with the DE89 to true neutral on the MJ-90A. Shaving with it now is just effing awesomely smooth. I sold my Edwin Jagger DE89 to a new wet-shaver at a discount. Can't go wrong starting with one. And Kevy, you HAVE TO TRY the Proraso Wood and Spice soap and balm. If you like Cypress and Vetiver, you are going to be blown away with Wood and Spice. Its my absolute favorite of the Proraso Pro / Single Blade line. And yes, I think you saw one of my SOTD pics in one of the FB groups (I tihnk), I have the Tube version of the soaps. Also, could you link the plastic washers? I can't remember which video you showed that and had a link to it. Looking to see if I can get some from Amazon.
I've never tried an MJ-90. I have a small sample pot of the wood and spice. Really nice scent. If you search on eBay for plastic washers, size M5, there should be a few for sale. Cheers. Kevy 😀👍
Hey Kevy! Thanks for another great video. What size do the washers have? Thinking about ordering some , but have no idea what the right size is. Greetz from Vienna!
Hello Kevy, What a lucky Sod you are, what a fantastic looking Brush ( WOLVES FC colours as well) I really, really really want one. Beautiful........No not you! The Brush.....😆
Great video as always kevy really nice brush I have that proraso cream as well I’m going give it a try over the weekend poor auld Chris and u taking the piss out of him lol 😀
Nice thought to spread the cream all over the face and then use the brush! But...You will definitely get a speed ticket from your subscriber that told you to slow down with the razor!! PS I'm shaving over the Adam's apple everytime. Hope Adam won't bother!
An extraordinarily beautiful Ever-Ready replica that is. As to the new line of Proraso shave cream I find the quality far inferior than the classic line creams. On the other hand the scents are stronger and better. As always, YMMV. 💈👍🏼
Kevy, thank you for all your videos. I love watching them, it really helps me relax. I've had a really tough day today so it was great to sit down and watch your new video today. I hope you have a great rest of your week.
Absolutely. Which is why I have a rotation of vintage razors I use, one for each day of the week. I do the same for my brushes. My rotation of soap is limited to Williams Mug, Arko and the Palmolive stick. I'm too old fashioned and stubborn to use any other shave soap.
Great video and shave kevy, bit too much on the brush shots. Love the tongue tied moments. I couldn't say it either. Made me start to wonder if it was a Scot Sporan appreciation thing going on. Or is it a Beaver brush actually? All the best
