I am fascinated by these little glimpses into bits of the network that we'd never normally see as well as the info you give us in your commentry. Would never have thought the depo wouild have been large enough to span the gap between two stations had you not pointed it out.

I loved this video. For you, it’s probably just part of the job, but for a lifelong Tube fan like me, being in the cab through the wash and into the depot is an absolute joy. Thank you 😀 When I was a schoolboy (at Ealing 1957 to 1964) I used to live at Northolt and later, Ickenham. I travelled to school and back on the Central Line, initially from Northolt and later West Ruislip, either switching to the steam push-and-pull (later DMU) at Greenford, or going over the bridge at North Acton. I used to gaze out of the windows as the train passed Ruislip Depot and imagine all the behind-the-scenes stuff - but never once got to visit. Sixty years later you’ve taken me (virtually) with you in your cab into the storage roads at Cockfosters. I can’t thank you enough, Dale. Fulfilment of a schoolboy’s dream. 😀

This was very interesting. There was at one time a train wash at the Ealing Common depot, between Ealing Common and Acton Town stations. That was built back in the 1950’s, and still existed when I emigrated to cCanada in 1967. I was always rather fond of that washer, as my Father had been involved in the design work - he was a draughtsman working at the Acton works. I always looked out for the washing machine in the Ealing Common depot when I took the train into London from Sudbury Town.

We are spoiled over here. I stop at the wash track and get out and go home. Mechanics operate through the wash and park the train. MAX LRV Operator, Portland, OR. Great videos. Fascinating to see similarities and differences between our alignments. Signals, ATS, and so on. BTW I lived in Bushey, next to Watford as a kid. Stanmore was our station, in ancient times when Bakerloo used to run there, 1970 to about 1976. Thanks.

Dale, this was very interesting....never knew about the train washes. I just discovered your channel about 2 weeks ago & really enjoying the subway(Tube) rides from the cab. This would've been a good job for me in earlier years...always liked standing up front & looking out at the tracks & the switching, etc. Something on my bucket list would be to drive one of those pickup trucks with the train wheels on it down the tracks of a regular railroad line....keep the Tube ones coming!!

On the pic line Cockfosters is east and Heathrow/uxbridge is west. So coming from Cockfosters towards Oakwood means we are travelling west. Despite what a compass might say. Drivers have gone through with the cab door open many times. The passenger doors no. The doors that had the doors open in the depot was one the technician was checking over. @dalecharmantravels8057 Месяц назад
Each train has its own train number. We may change it if we swap trains with another driver. Let’s say I’m going to Heathrow and the train behind is for Northfields. Then if mine has a defect we will change trains so I would take there train to Heathrow and they would put my defective train in the depot. Then we would change number so that I would still run under say train 222

@dalecharmantravels8057
@dalecharmantravels8057 Месяц назад
Yes we do open and close the doors. For me once I have a green signal and the automated voice announcer has finished I will then look at closing the doors. On busy stations it can be hard to get them closed.

has there ever been a time that a shunt signal may have not turned horizontally and you have to do the safety procedure?
@dalecharmantravels8057
@dalecharmantravels8057 Месяц назад
On a shunt we wouldn’t pass it if it didn’t move. As there would be points involved there is a risk of a derailment. Staff would have to what’s known as scotch and clip the points in place

@dalecharmantravels8057

Stop identify the signal. Contact the correct person and act on the instructions given. Then in most cases trip past the signal and drive at a reduced speed for 2 stop signals that show a clear (Green aspect). That’s the short version

how many mph does the piccadilly line do from hounslow west to central Eastbound and hounslow east to osterly?
@dalecharmantravels8057
@dalecharmantravels8057 Месяц назад
The maximum is 45mph but every driver will drive it differently. The things that will effect speed are signals, weather and the train it’s self some can struggle to get full speed
@S1deep160
@S1deep160 Месяц назад
@dalecharmantravels8057 ahh so that's why from hounslow west to central its a bit slow
@dalecharmantravels8057
@dalecharmantravels8057 Месяц назад
When you leave H/west you are going up hill. In the wet the wheels struggle for grip. Then as you approach central the you have 2 or 3 signals. Between H/east and Osterley it’s not a huge distance to get up too much speed

I needed to know why they don’t dig a tunnel and do an extension for the main line Train so that they can extend the unused abandoned underground train stations. Why couldn’t they use the part D78 Stock train doors on the sides and also restructure the front face of the A60 and A62 stock that includes the class 313, class 314 and class 315 remix and make them all together and also redesign them an overhead line and also make them into Five cars per units and also having three Disabled Toilets on those Five cars per units A60 and A62 stock trains and also convert the A60 and A62 stock trains into a Scania N112, Volvo B10M, Gardner 6LXB, Gardner 6LXC and Gardner 8LXB Diesel Engines and also put the Loud 7-Speed Voith Gearboxes even Loud 8-Speed Leyland Hydra cyclic Gearboxes in the A60 and A62 stock, class 313, class 314, and class 315 and also modernise the A60 and A62 stock and make it into an 11 car per unit so it could have fewer doors, more tables, computers and mobile phone chargers. A Stock Train and 8 Disabled Toilets on those A stock trains. why couldn’t we refurbish and modernise the Waterloo and city line Triple-Track train tunnel and make it larger and extend it to the bank station, making it into a Triple-Track Railway Line so those Five countries such as Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden to convert the waterloo and city line Triple-Track Railway tunnel into a High-Speed Railway lines? The Third Euro tunnel Triple-Track Railway line to make it 11 times better for passengers so they could go from A to B. Then put the modernised 11 car per unit A Stock and put them on a bigger modernised Waterloo and city line Triple-Track train tunnel so it could go to bank station to those Five countries such as Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden. The modernised refurbished 11 cars per unit A stock could be a High Speed The Third Triple-Track Euro Tunnel Train So it is promising and 47 times a lot more possible to do this kind of project if that will be OK for London Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden. oh by the way, could they also tunnel the Triple-Track Railway Line so it will stop from Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Essex so that the Passengers will go to Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland and Sweden and also extend the Triple-Track Railway Line from the Bank to Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Essex Stations so that more people from there could go to Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden more Easily. Why couldn't they extend the Piccadilly Line and also build brand-new underground train stations so it could go even further right up to Clapton, Wood Street can they also make another brand new underground train station in Chingford and could they extend the Piccadilly Line and the DLR right up to Chingford? All of the classes 150, 155, 154, 117, 114, 105, and 106, will be replaced by all of the Scania N112, Volvo B10M, Gardner 6LXB, Gardner 6LXC and Gardner 8LXB Diesel Five carriages three disabled toilets are air conditioning trains including Highams Park for extended roots which is the Piccadilly line and the DLR trains. Could you also convert all of the 1973 stock trains into an air-conditioned maximum speed 78 km/hours (48 MPH) re-refurbished and make it into a 8 cars per unit if that will be alright, and also extend all of the Piccadilly train stations to make more space for all of the extended 8 car per unit 1973 stock air condition trains and can you also build another Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive Companies and can they order Every 67 Octagon and Every 37 Hexagon shape LNER diagram unique small no.13 and unique small no.11 Boilers from those Countries such as Greece, Italy, Poland, and Sweden, can they make Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive speeds by up to 147MPH so you can try and test it on the Original Mainline so it will be much more safer for the Passengers to enjoy the 147MPH speed Limit only for HS2 and Channel Tunnel mainline services, if they needed 16 Carriages Per units, can they use those class 55’s, class 44’s, class 40’s and class 43HST Diesel Locomotive’s right at the Back of those 18 Carriages Per Units so they can take over at the Back to let those Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive’s have a rest for those interesting Journeys Please!!!!!!, oh can you make all of those Coal Boxes’s 18 Tonnes for all of those 147MPH Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive’s so the Companies will Understand us PASSENGER’S!! so please make sure that the Builders can do as they are told!!!!! And Please do something about these very very important Professional ideas Please?
