This brings back great memories. I still have my original wheel rally case filled with 2 original cars, chassis to chassis in each slot. I had not thought about them for years until I became a parent and discovered the art of collecting while bringing my young son to a toy train exhibit. After I saw the value of some of the cars, I phoned my Mom and asked if she still had it. Of course being the sentimental lady she was, she did. It sent me on a wild hiatus, and in the 90's, I decided I would begin collecting again for my son. I now have cases on shelves in my garage filled with over a thousand cars in their original blister packs. It's gotten out of hand!.

lol, about 20 years ago I went searching on ebay for toys I had as a kid just to see what they really looked like. It took me to look at Hot Wheels, and I stumbled upon some auctions for a salesman sample case break where the guy was selling them one by one out of the cases. I said to myself if I were to buy one of them this would be what I would buy for it to really be worth anything. First two nights I bid on one and in the morning I got an email that I was outbid so the last night I bid on 2 and in the morning I got an email that I had won both bids. lol. So I got a blue and an olive original Firebird. That led me on a collecting spree for a few years and I got about 100 of them. Put them in a box wrapped up in the correct type of tissue.

When I was a kid in the early 70's I had Hotwheels and Matchbox, and always preferred Matchbox because those were more a replica of cars you'd see on the road. Fast forward to about 2010, when I made a 4-lane wooden ramp to race cars down the hallway in our house. My son, daughter and I would take every Matchbox/Hotwheel in the house (my old ones that were very well-loved, and my kids' new ones) and run them down the ramp to crown the champion fastest car in the house. It would take us an hour or more to get all the cars through their heats. What a blast! Superbirds won a lot.

@@OldManDiecast man I cant believe you sold them all! I could never part with all mine since it has been a 50+ year investment! I had to put them all in storage over 10 years ago because I went thru some financial problems & lost my house but I wasnt turning loose of my cars! I can only imagine how many I would have now had I still been collecting! Majority of mine are complete sets! I also have Lesney's, Autoworld, Matchbox & several other brands! my biggest set is my Volkswagens & Trans Ams, hundreds in each since they are my biggest loves with real cars & had many of both! And he gave me a more than fair price. So, I boxed them up and had him come by when I was not there.....LOL Why le the kids reap the benefits of your hard work? Did anyone leave any for you? I grew up watching the original VCR movie set for the Highway 35 world race and then fell in love with Hot Wheels asking my parents to buy me sets based off the movie and eventually seeing the DVD Acceleracer series collecting the Drone, Teku, Metal Maniacs, and Silencer vehicles. I also collected the cards and some race tracks but most of my stuff is gone lost to time sadly. I'll recollect them one day in the future tho.

Oh man. I can't believe I still have all my hot wheels from when i was a kid over 50 years ago. I believe they are called redlines. My dad and I collected them and he bought me every single car I wanted. I think i have 600 redlines.

It WAS a dollar. Now thanks to this administration it has went up. It was the only thing that keep the same price my entire life mostly. Til now 😢. As an adult I would always buy hotwheels. Because if I had a few dollars in my pocket. I could always count on HOTWHEELS TRADITION BEINGA DOLLAR. I know to most a dollar is nothing. But to a kid it’s like having a million dollars.I never thought I would’ve seen the day. I thought yea they will change the price after I’m gone. It was a tradition and still is that the kids always got some hotwheels for Xmas. I know why they changed the price. But Hats off to you Hotwheels for standing your ground for most of my life ❤ Thank you 🙏

I agree 100%. With that stated when they went up on the factory 500 set I felt they were testing the waters for a price increase then. Just like I need a battery for one of my cars. I bought one 3 years ago for $75. Now it is $200...Just stupid. Thanks for watching

They need to bring back the 4 car series models where all the cars in the series have the same paint scheme but different models. I use to collect Hotwheels and at one time I had over 400 cars. It was a lot of fun going to stores and conventions shopping for that one particular car in the series you can't find. I've paid as much as 30 bucks for one car just to complete the series. Hotwheels ROCK!!!
