I’m 72. When in the 4th grade we sold Krispy Kreme donuts to raise classroom money. We sold them for 50 cents a dozen and they were fresh made that morning.
When I was about 8 or 9 mom and me went in late to a KK. The little older lady working said “ do you want to see them being made?”. We went back and I got one right after the sugar glaze machine. She said that’s the best donut you’ll ever get. I remember that.
I was at a Krispy Kreme and saw just how crazy KK staff feel about the freshness. A young customer had reached behind the counter and grabbed a donut from the display case. A distraught mother apologized to the staff but was unprepared for the reaction. The crew member was agast that the donut fron the case was consumed. They were there for display purposes. The donut the child had eaten could have been as old as 90 minutes and therefore was not a fresh donut and could have been cold. I laughed thinking how many donuts I had eaten from a box from the supermarket that had at least a use by date of one week past the date of manufacturing. I will admit KK donuts warm and fresh from the KK store are heaven in a box@
I refuse to eat any other kind of doughnut but Krispy Kreme. I especially love the chocolate glazed doughnuts. The chocolate glaze tastes just like the old fashioned, homemade fudge.
I recently went to The KK shop in Brooklyn, NY. They were $16/dozen. I told the girl that we used to raise money for school trips and stuff by standing on the street corners in Saturday morning and selling the boxes for $5 and we made $2.50 a box. I bought 3 dozen because we don't have KK here in Maine and the taste takes me back to childhood in Virginia.
I grew up on Krispy Kreme donuts and was upset when almost all of them near me were closed down due to financial problems. Was so happy when they finally reopened 5 new locations and the original 3 near me.❤😀
When I was in elementary school. A group from the high school associated with the three elementary schools in my end of the county sold Krispy Kreme donuts to raise money. They took orders, and my elementary school even bought enough to put one on each lunch tray. $1.50 per dozen. Those were the days. My favorite was the chocolate glazed. Great for people with no teeth. You don't have to chew the fresh hot ones.
In Connecticut, we have exactly one Krispy Kreme shop. It's in the Mohegan Sun casino. I don't know why there aren't more of them as the casino one always has a line of people out the entrance to it.
I got a fresh donut before it went under the waterfall of glaze. Not what I expected it to be. The taste is definitely either in the glaze or the combo of both. 5 of us tried it and all agreed the completed donuts are worth the wait.
The best donut, and when the HOT sign is on, there will be a line around the store! Greenville NC. One bad thing, they have doubled in price in just a few years.
I loooooooove these KK donuts, BUT, they are expensive as heck. I bought a dozen just yesterday and the bill was about $15.00. That means I only eat them about once year
I'm not impressed w/ Krispy Kreme. Theyre ok, just nothing to write home about. Our local supermarket makes better ones. I'm just here bc of the fuss everybody else makes...😅
that's correct, I've worked at Krispy Kreme. There are a lot of bare hands involved as each stage of decoration and packing is done by hand, but they are also keen on hygiene. You get free doughnuts to take home, and having worked there, I've never had any qualms about eating them. I've never heard of anyone becoming unwell from eating a Krispy Kreme doughnut. From eating too many of them perhaps, but not because of hygiene problems.
Gloves aren’t needed in an industrial kitchen, not to mention they aren’t really used properly in the first place. I’ve seen someone prepare my food with the gloves on, then take my money, then go back and prepare someone else’s food. Another time while at 6 Flags near Dallas, I ordered nachos, the employee accidentally dropped some cheese on to the top of his gloved hand, it was like an assembly line, so I looked forward to see what other ingredients I wanted, but I glanced back at him in time to see him LICK the cheese off of his glove. I was so grossed out! I’m usually very reserved and hate confrontation but I blurted out “OH MY LORD!” He just stared at me. I looked towards the first person that looked like they were in charge and told her what happened. She acted like I made it up, I didn’t care, I insisted he change his gloves.
Your math is way off. Over 20 million sold annual or 72000 daily. According to Wikipedia there are 1400 outlets worldwide, so you are telling us that each outlet only sells 51 donuts on average each day?
You lost me with the rambling intro it was supposed to be about krispy kreme donuts not some self absorbed person rambling on about secret ingredients that they claim they use so what makes them so special show us dont bore us with a 5 minute intro to an 8 and a half minute clip
KK donuts are so great but their coffee is better than any brand out there! The coffee is not only better but much cheaper. Dunkin donuts are also delicious and their coffee is good too. Both KK and Dunkin have delicious donuts but their coffee tops all! Leave Starbucks to their woke liberal agenda and get a cheap yet yummy cup of coffee at the donut shop!
I would like to see Krispy Kreme come out with a sugar free doughnut to cater to the diabetic community. I love their products unfortunately my blood sugar doesn’t. So until they come out with ones that I can eat with out my blood sugar going through the roof I am screwed.
These things are so sweet it is sickening. I do not know how people can eat more than one. Tried them and to me they are horrible. All sugar and fat. As my doctor would say "take two fat pills and call me in the morning". Yes, they are fat pills. And expensive here. They closed several locations in Canada and now only have 13. However it seems they are looking at expanding again here.
KK changed their recipe several years ago and they do not taste like the original. Now they are just fast produced for profit. KK should be a shamed of their pricing. 1.25 for a glazed doughnut that costs them 2 cents to make. the fact that several times a year, if you buy a dozen, you get a dozen free proves that if they are still making money off 50% off, then they are overpriced the rest of the year.
The employees wore masks but not a damn one had on any gloves, their bare hands was in the dough mix and no one had on gloves until they boxed the doughnuts, too little, too late!
