I heard about how somebody stole a truck full of the Limited Edition Evercade EXPs this week and that really SUCKS. So annoying. 😡 Hopefully those of you who were looking forward to them will get them ASAP. It seems like Blaze Entertainment is keeping everybody in the loop for replacements.
Mine was one of the stolen ones. They sent me an email saying that I have to wait until late January but they are giving me a free screen protector! Yeah!
People are always like “Just do roms, lol”, but ROM burnout is a real thing. You never play a game too long because you have 1000 others to hop into at any time. The Evercade library is great because you NEED to swap carts, and you have to sit with the games for a longer time. I always thought Rad Gravity on NES was just bad, or the Dizzy games, but the EC made me appreciate these much more by making me spend time with them
This is very true. My stand up MAME machine has like 1,000 games...and I probably just scroll through the menu for 10 minutes...and just play Frogger 😂
I dont think those people understand that some people like to own legal copies of games. To each their own, but I find I can enjoy games more when Ive put effort in acquiring them. When options are nigh on unlimited and you dont pay for things games just become just another file on a harddrive. No pride in it and I dont spend as much time to really delve into the games and enjoy them as much. I also have more attachment to things Ive worked for and sought out. Too many choices acquired by using a random torrent or download link and the games get devalued and meaningless. Weirdly, I only adopted this perspective once I'd collected entire sets of ROMs for nigh on every system. I have some on my phone that I play on long train rides (using a razor kishi, I dont like touchscreen controls), but only what I have in my physical collection.
Man I am so glad you are back! It honestly felt like reuniting with an old pal! Im not much of a collector myself but watching you talking about something you really are passionate about is fullfilling for me! So glad to see you back!
Finally he’s back. No one can fill the void you left for me on RU-vid. I was exploring new gaming channels and the next generation “retro” channels are all about people flipping for profit. Makes me sad lol. So happy you’re back never change baby.
@@SimpleWackThere’s a difference between selling to finance a collection and people who don’t appreciate games beyond their transactional value. Many of these new channels cropping up aren’t passionate or knowledgeable about game content, history, or art. That’s one of the things I love about the Metal Jesus.
Excellent review for the EverCade EXP, and very well edited. I’m planning on upgrading to this model, as the enhancements definitely make it appear more premium. Nice to know the screen is now better on its viewing angles, as that was a minor gripe of mine with the original model. I’ve been loving the arcade compilations they’ve been releasing, and can’t wait to keep seeing more of those. Awesome video again man!
Great Review. As someone who grew up in the 80s, consoles like the evercade are a dream come true. I think they have done an amazing job, and have hit a very active segment of the gaming population. I think in the last 10 years retrogaming has gone from niche to mainstream. The appreciation for older games continues to increase and companies like Blaze entertainment came into the market at the right moment, hence the success they have had thus far. I think this is success will continue for a long time to come. It is rare these days to see small companies succeed with new gaming consoles in such a cut-hroat market as gaming has become. The fact that they have succeeded with a handheld but also a stationary console is a testament to their quality and dedication. It is true that most of us can hack a vita or download roms to a PSP and play them, but again physical collecting is why this console has been so successful. Besides many of these games are remakes of re-releases of games that never came out in the US or that were only released in other countries or that were never released at all, and this is what makes this console a key player in the retrogaming market. Finally, as an older gamer I truly appreciate the opportunity to be able to get these physical games and play them in high definition TVs without the complexities and expense of upscalers and other external technologies. Jason, as usual, awesome review.
I received my Evercade today and absolutely love it! As a retro gaming fan and physical media collector, purchasing one was really a no brainer. I've heard that Blaze have completed a deal to bring Amiga games to the platform and I'm really looking forward to the machine's ever expanding library! Many thanks for the review! 👍😎
What a great little system. I am actually more excited about this than many of the current-gen hardware and game releases. Retro gaming is getting expensive from both the hardware side and the game side. To have a new system that can play retro games fully optimized out of the box, with physical media and a great screen looks like a big win for me.
@@OMA2k Thanks. I did not know that. I have not been able to get one yet. I have actually trying to get an Analogue Pocket but those are hard to get a hold of.
Welcome back! I think it's great that this niche system has a strong foundation and community. I can't really see myself owning one but it's nice to see something like this fill a need
YES! I just watched John Hancock's review of this i was thinking where is MJ he should review this...then BAM! Great to see you back friend 😊👍 welcome with open arms 4:03 WOAH 😳 2 screens are very different. This is an amazing upgrade.
As you can tell by my name I'm into Evercade big time. I pre-ordered the limited edition so I won't be getting mine until next year and made peace with that. Thanks for covering this as I'm pumped to get mine.
So glad to see you back at it with the videos and that your looking to be in good health. Hope all is going well and definitely excited to see future videos
Evercade is brilliant, hopefully in 2023 we get some more of the big names. I got my EXP yesterday very early , the improvement over the original was very welcome.
I just found out about the Evercade Handhelds! They look awesome! I'm totally only a cartridge game collector & these prices are the lowest I've seen anywhere on Retro Games! Putting a holt on my other handhelds & stocking up on Evercade games from now until Christmas! $20 for a cartridge that has more than one game on them is crazy awesome! Also love the new Tate Mode like the old school WonderSwan back in the day!
I just purchased the EXP today, got to wait till Saturday for the delivery, I have so many different ways of playing retro games but the Evercade is more the love of the physical media, can't wait to flick through a manual, I miss manuals.
Nice to see you back! 🙂 I appreciate the effort to keep the channel running while you were recovering. Hope you're well and I can't wait to see more content from you! 🤘🎮
Great video and review! I was an early adopter of the original Evercade handheld, and have the EXP preordered, waiting patiently for it to ship. You mentioned wanting other computer game compilations. Blaze have announced that they are going to be bringing an Amiga collection, though they have yet to announce which titles will be included. Again, excellent video!
I've watched the earlier videos on Evercade and it's great them doing well enough to have released so many collections and continue with plans to do so.
Very interesting, especially the screen tilt for particular games... I've got the first handheld, and the console, but hadn't ordered the exp yet... Great review with helpful insight into the new console, thanks Metal Jesus!
Quite interested in getting one of these. For those with the older system they did a pretty big update on the OS not long ago to update the look and feel, a nice improvement over the original OS worth updating. I think maybe yours is on the older version Jason. Great to have you back.
Looks like a great upgrade. Much cleaner design. I like what they are doing a lot. Great broad selection of releases. Really nice to see the Oliver twins having their own package (Dizzy only?)
Great review, thank you! I haven't bought the EXP yet but I have the VS and their first handheld, plus all the game cartridges. Love collecting the Evercade so as soon as I can I'll be getting the EXP as well.
My preorder EXP from BestBuy comes this month! I love scrolling shooters, so tate mode will be awesome and I think I will enjoy the screen quality upgrade. I like to support these smaller companies too. I'm still waiting for them to release Asteroids Deluxe, which was suppose to be on a previous cart, but there was a mistake. I have to give credit though, when I wrote Evercade, they owned up to it, and apologized. Just hope they release it!!
Really good review of the Evercade EXP. I ordered the regular one, and it should be coming this week! Feel bad for the people that ordered the founders day version of it! Talk about a Grinch!
I’ve always thought about getting an Evercade, I may just have to do it with this new model. Only downside is collecting the carts that have already been released. Welcome back, I have missed your content
I am definitely going to get my hands on this, it looks great it is affordable handheld I need it. It may not have AAA titles but that’s okay the games you can buy for it are like under $20 what a steal. I’m ordering it next week
