The first 5 days of our trek through the Khumbu region to Everest Base Camp and beyond! After a mishap resulted in us missing our flight to Lukla, we ended up starting this trek in style with a helicopter flight instead. Wow, what a place to experience our first ever heli ride! We even saw Mt Everest on the way : ) For more info about this trek, including stats, practical advice, and detailed route maps check out our EBC and Three Passes guides over on the blog - www.goingthewholehogg.com/destinations/south-asia/nepal/. Fancy doing this trek too? Use our code HOGG5 for a 5% discount with Himalayan Masters (bit.ly/EBCTrekHimalayanMasters), our recommended trekking agency : ) Hope you enjoy the film, and be sure to join us for the next part in the series, out next week! Cheers, Kim and Del

I completed the EBC myself last year. This beautifully crafted film took me right back to the start of my own journey from Lukla. Pining to go back now!

Thanks Iain, as someone who has done the trek it’s great to know your thoughts on this. And we know that feeling too, always a desire to go back. Thanks again 🙂

Can you please let me know whether porters and guides are mandatory these days?

With these ambient feature films, you are really spoiling us . A cultural reference for the teenagers, there! Another beautifully made film capturing an extraordinary location and experience. Thank you. What a treat!

Did you know that there is a much more impressive high trail on the opposite side of the valley which goes via Mong La - Phortse - Pangpoche? This High Scenic Trail offers vastly better views high across the valley, lots of wildlife and practically no other trekkers. Tengboche can be visited on the way down.

Yes, we include this trail option in our written guide on our blog, but we didn't take this route ourselves. It looks like a great option and ideal for varying the route to/from BC. We were continuing from EBC to Gokyo and so could only choose one route on the way to BC and went with the 'classic'.
@karipintakivi9153
@karipintakivi9153 9 месяцев назад
@@GoingTheWholeHogg Yes, continuing to Gokyo means you have to make some choices. Especially if returning via Renjo La and Thame. If not, then a figure-of-8 is possible giving even more variety and trekking outside the beaten path: going up via Phortse, coming down from Gokyo along the east side of the valley to Phortse, then straight to Tengboche, then Namche. Picking the cherries...

@@karipintakivi9153 yeah, absolutely, there are various ways of mixing up the route to see more of the region. We continued over Renjo La and down to Thame, which was very nice : )

Hi, I am absolutely loving all of these videos? I just wanted to know how much the helicopter cost and if you’d recommend it over Ramechap flight and also which pass you’d recommend out of Cho La and Kongma La? On my second trip to EBC we had to turn back at Cho La due to the weather and walk back down to Pheriche to meet with the main route. The videos are awesome and much love from Aus!
@GoingTheWholeHogg
@GoingTheWholeHogg 5 месяцев назад
That’s great, thanks very much! The helicopter flight can vary but if it’s full it should cost about $500 per person. It is cool but obviously a lot more expensive. Both Kongma La and Cho La are interesting, with Kongma La probably more dramatic and challenging… tough to choose a winner though

Thank you. This was in mid-April. We didn't experience any rain, although there was some snowfall higher up during the later part of our Everest Three Passes trek
