The mutinous climbers are suffering from Summit Fever and still refuse to turn back because the summit is just 350 feet above them. But Russell is adamant they'll die unless they obey his orders. Eventually, their team mates returning from the summit manage to persuade them to descend but they're now very weak and running out of oxygen. Their survival is far from guaranteed. Max Chaya proved himself a very strong climber summiting well before everybody else at dawn, but on his way down he encounters and unconscious climber who is badly frostbitten and close to death. ...

What a freak show on the mountain. The only people who should have been there are the Sherpas

Why? Does nature belong to only one person or one race of people now?

The Sherpas need more recognition and loads more money they risk there life’s taking these rich 💩 up this mountain these people that die on this mountain knows the risks so can’t blame anyone else pure and simple once your in death zone and in trouble they no what going happen its struggle just for one person. To keep going let alone try keep someone else alive

The sherpas get a full year of income for 6 week's work every year, they also get lots of schools, shelters, medical care, and infrastructure provided for them by western climbing charities. They're doing just fine.

They find the climber "David Sharp" at 10:08 who's death sparked controversy that year. He was passed by so many climbers that day who couldnt see him or thought he was just a body.

100% agree with you, and yes it was David Sharp, but anyway, i share the same opinion as Messner, Keltenbrunner and only a few others. If you cant climb this mountains with supportable oxygen, you dont climb them, you fool them and most of all, you fool yourself. all the sherpas could "easyliy" climb Everest, K2,.......without supportable oxygen, if they dont have to babysit these rich western egos. without sherpa people, David Sharp wouldnt be the only one these day, left in death zone!!!

Bryan A.Cal they passed David Sharpe alive on way up and on way down. That's why it was criticized.

Max reached the summit around 6:00am, probably to dark for him to see. Ingles stopped along with others on the way up. According to Brice nobody told him yet Ingles claimed he did. They did a good job editing out that part of the video.

As many as 40 climbers saw David Sharp. Half thought he was Green Boots, the rest thought he was already dead or saw that he was soon to be. In the Death Zone you can barely carry yourself let alone another person

Superman move over, we got a new man of steel; Phurba. I've never seen something as impressive as someone casually taking a stroll down mount Everest with a man twice his size (even without legs!) strapped to his back, holding the weight with his head! Seriously, that man is the eight wonder of the World. The only thing I'm gonna say about the dying man is he knew the rule of Everest Before he got there; where you fall, you stay. Max, Phurba and the others did what they could, putting themselves as risk even though it was obviously too late. He was a dead man the moment he sat down and no one is to blame,

Phurba is super impressive . It’s tragic to see how positively his presence and strength saved the lives of Tim and Gerard but he (or another Sherpa) wasn’t given the chance earlier to help David Sharp .

@@keiththompson2172 That's because David Sharp tried to summit completely on his own, with no O2 (only 2 canisters just in case), and on top of that, he told *nobody* that he was leaving/ETAs/when he should be returning. He chose not to take GPS, a satellite phone, or even a radio (which is unheard of even for "purists"). It's not for a lack of funds though, because he had the funds. It's not even necessarily because he was a "purist" either. It's because he was fantasist with delusions of grandeur, and made poor decisions. If he had Sherpas with him at the very least, he _may_ have had a chance. The only person who didn't give Sherpas a chance to save him was David, himself. I don't say any of this to speak ill of David, and it's horrible that he didn't make it. However, this is just the sad, and extremely unfortunate truth of the matter. *RIP David Sharp*

I remember Ingles getting a lot of blame but I don't know what people expected an exhausted, double amputee to do in the death zone of Everest. So stupid to blame him.
