Asmita Dorjee, daughter of Everest, reached Everest summit at the age of 40. She was born and brought up in the Solu Khumbu, the high slopes of Mt Everest. Her father Ang Dorjee who climbed Everest twice, died suddenly, leaving her forever when she was just 3 or 4 years old. She grew up with a fierce ambition to pay tribute to her father whom she had hardly known, by climbing Mount Everest in his honour. It took her more than 30 years to fulfil her burning desire. Today she is a Senior instructor at the Tata Steel Adventure Foundation in Jamshedpur, teaching hundreds of young people to climb and experience the mountains that gave her so much joy and memories.
