I lost my Mom on Mother's Day 2013. Mother's Day has never been the same since. Now I make sure my Wife (of 42 years) and mother of our only child, has as special and memorial of a special day as humanly possible, every single second of not only Mother's Day, but every single day of our lives. Seize the moment!

I enjoy your content. Tracy, Norton, and others like yourself offer very interesting info on Everest and the 1924 Mallory and Irvine mystery. I appreciate your honesty. You have a great personal touch with things! I could see you wearing a Corduroy Coat and teaching at a university somewhere!! Keep it up!

I've never set foot on any "summit" you could actually consider a mountain. But through your videos I've come to appreciate the beauty of the that lies within this lifestyle. Although it can be grim to some, you certainly help understand and appreciate the challenge and profound reward to living life to its fullest. Thank you!

Thom, my children's previous teacher is an ultra marathoner. Crazy races, but amazing stories. Harvey Lewis is his name f you ever want to look up someone else. He did the Appalachian Trail and ran some with his father, who was supporting him in the van. I always have respect for those in better shape and ability than me.
@EverestMystery
@EverestMystery 2 месяца назад
The ultra marathoners devote themselves to long term goals and rarely stray from course. These are exceptional individual accomplishments for the athlete, which can inspire others to, say, lose weight, or quit a job that holds them back, or go after something they have always dreamed of....

I’ve always wanted to know who is responsible for making sure the ropes and ladders and other infrastructure get setup each season. Are they paid? Or do certain groups just volunteer?
@EverestMystery
@EverestMystery 2 месяца назад
Yes, there is a group called the Icefall Doctors...I think 8 to 10 men (at this juncture). They are hired and paid by the Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee to fix ropes from Crampon Point (near Base Camp) to Camp 2 in the western cwm. From there, there is a team designated and compensated (this year I believe it's Imagine Nepal) to fix lines to the summit. Both groups maintain the ropes throughout the season.

@EverestMystery
@EverestMystery 2 месяца назад
Gosh, that would be a VERY long list....but, short term, here are a few right off the top of my head. (A video on this might actually be AWESOME!) Lost On Everest - Disney+ (2020) Everest (IMAX) (1997) The Man Who Skied Down Everest (1975) The Fatal Game (1997) Everest - The Last Unclimbed Ridge (1983) THERE ARE SO MANY MORE.... Thanks for the great suggestion, that might be a fun one to do a LIVE stream about! Thanks for supporting the channel

Thom, are we all now agreed that Sandy iIrvine is no longer on the mountain?
@EverestMystery
@EverestMystery 2 месяца назад
Many would argue against that. However, if I were given a research grant to get to the bottom of the mystery of the location of Sandy Irvine I would consider it a complete waste of money to be looking around on the mountain. I'd be just as happy to let those who disagree to spend their money up on the mountain.

Happy Mothers days, I was wondering, I know they found Sandys ice ax, but did they ever find Mallory's?, Really enjoying your channel.
@EverestMystery
@EverestMystery 2 месяца назад
No, Mallory's axe was not found....with the other possibility being that the Chinese found it on him in 1975 when they saw his body, taking it with them and not publicizing it.

When I see a video that actually show mountain climbers walking on the “knife’s edge” where each side goes straight down for 1000+ feet I don’t know how you do it??? If you have more video of that and can talk about it….it would be cool.
@EverestMystery
@EverestMystery 2 месяца назад
Many of those knife edge videos are taken with a super wide angle lens and make it look far worse than it is....but, it's still pretty amazing to see. I will endeavor to find more content/footage for use in a future video. Thank you!
