LOL, I loved your comment about the two masted sailor (that was me BigMooCanoe) "That guys going full Lieutenant Dan on the strom". I had a broken daggerboard just past the exit to Tampa Bay and didn't restart my race until 2 p.m. I sailed all night and stayed between 2 and 4 miles offshore because there was better wind out there. I didn't lose the wind until 4:45 a.m. when the VHF went off about that storm with the waterspouts. Like you, I rowed more than sailed all of day 2 and arrived at CP1 at 2:11 a.m. I'm glad to see you went on, I dropped due to a horrible rash, I'll be back. Thanks for sharing the footage.
Hey there BigMooCanoe! Seeing you brave the storm like you did gave me confidence to press on :), sorry to hear about your troubles early on this year, hopefully you make a full recovery and can tackle it again. I just heard about the Florida 120 at the end of May, looks like a fun run. Check it out and Maybe I'll see you there
Stump pass was a rough one for us. the wind and tide were coming out the the pass. it also didn't help that it was night time too. we rowed for about an hour thru brakers. we made it to the mouth of the inlet and walked along the beach. it was a pleasant walk for us (pleasant when it comes to the everglades challenge)
@sailingslowmotion seriously that is a sensitive area to get a scolding. Really appreciate you posting this. I would love to try it, but I don't know how to sail. Thinking about kayaking it. Thank you for posting.
